So this is essentially a combo between the stock ICS launcher + auto-rotate posted by bajansurfer and the 3 screen stock ICS launcher posted by matt_stang. what i'm posting is a 3 screen launcher which auto-rotates for landscape mode. I'm running oICSv26 and it works flawlessly (the app is actually sourced from koush's build). obviously i didn't create these mods, but only really combined them.
you should know what to do with this, not compatible with Gingerbread ROMs. rename to Launcher2.apk and push to system/app and set permissions or copy to system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r-- or:
Code:
x x -
x - -
x - -
in the root explorer permission grid.

updated with middle screen as default.
CM9 Trebuchet Launcher2 with 3 screens (includes preferences with enable/disable auto-rotate. version 0.1, Dock and Icons in preferences no workie)
Nice. Does having 3 screens use less Random Access Memory?

no idea, guess in theory it would but I don't know if it does in the real world. I just only need 3 screens.

Good work man, thanx for your efforts. I actually use 5 screens now with the email widgets in ics being available but you know I appreciate the work that goes into this stuff
I found one in aosp's thread with preferences option in it if you want to mod that one for three screen folks

thanks, sorry, fixed
So I flashed the 4.2 factory image, haven't rooted yet.
I like,
The smaller icons in the dock bar
Slicker graphics / icons
The clock is cool
The notification system, left-side = notifications: right-side = quick settings.
Gmail is much improved.
Multiple user accounts is a good idea.
I dislike,
Chrome is slightly newer than the current version in the Play Store, 18.0.1025465 vs 18.0.1025464, but they made it perform worse Sunspider before 1500ms ~ now 1641 ms. It is also no smoother than before, and still is laggy on sites like The Verge.
I only got to play with mine for a few minutes during lunch but I love it minus the bounce back on the notification/quick settings pull downs. It's just odd and kind of irritating. I kept thinking it was going to close itself.
I really like the new lockscreen. The hour being bold with the minutes regular text is really nice IMO. The placement of the owner info and charging % is also nice. I think widgets are kind of meh but not complaining about anything new lol.
My battery is very bad since the update. Anyone else thinks like me?

Yeah I'm not liking the notification bounce back either.

Overall performance on the home screen and lock screen has been worse for me. I manually updated and wiped dalvik and normal cache before booting...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
The new lockscreen should be awesome but it's terrible. Only 4 widgets, what gives? Should be able to use any widget I want! And no more quick access to Google now?

What the story with Miracast, guys? Is there a button for it in the notification settings like there is on the Optimus G?
Can't wait to get home and update my N7...

Those with bad performance, I did a fresh install and its smoother than ever. I hate the smaller dock icons. Seriously, what gives?

Calendar, clock, gmail, and sound search.
I like how gmail is zoomed out all the way and then you can zoom in. Why not add this feature to the stock email app as well?

Pretty sure you're missing the Sound Search widget, it was previously only available for users in America, more people may be able to access it now but some won't be able to based on where they live.
I'm not liking the new clock, the huge bold hour makes it look lopsided, guess I have some kind of symmetrical ocd!
Think it is possible?
Nope...

You could probably rewrite the entire dialer app before you'd manage to port this app successfully. It ties into tons of Sense services, so you'd basically end up with a Sense ROM by the time you were done.
Title sums it up, it's a poll between the KitKat launcher you find on most devices or the new fancy Google Now launcher on the N5.
You may think it's pointless but when you don't use the GEL for a while and keep with stock, you grow more fond of the stock launcher and really appreciate how nice it still looks (although it sucks that they didn't even enable the transparency with it).
So I did some searching, here you go. Put this in system/priv-app/ and you get the transparent stock launcher. Pulled from Moto G so you even get the nice wallpapers. (but you keep stock ones)
Also, please note that for the time being this will replace the current stock launcher. So please please please back up your launcher! (In case you want to go back to the ugly black bars, but to each their own )
Notice: you only need the .odex file if you're using stock ROM or another odexed ROM. If you don't know if yours is or isn't, download it anyway.

NOTICE: After doing some testingtons, I have to be the bearer of bad news. This does not work on ART. I don't know why, it's just stock launcher2 with Motorola's own modifications and then my 10 extra lines of code in arrays.xml. If you want ART performance on Dalvik, go check out the Motorola pulled (does this class as irony?) Dalvik modifications.
I love stock launcher. Period Totally agree with OP. It looks to me more "stable". Closer to perfection. I don't know you guys but i can't see 60fps while swiping in app drawer ong GEL . It's like around 40 or something
+1 for stock

4x4 makes all the app icons low quality, but I do like the transparent bars, and I linked the Moto X's launcher that has them (Will overwrite existing launcher, back it up)
I loved GEL launcher.
Love the transparency, loved the way to add widgets and wall. loved the "folder" background.
4.4.2 Stock on ART.
My biggest complaint with GEL is that the home screen is located on the far left side, with a swipe left for Google now. Feels like an iphone. I like my home screen in the center thank you.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
I prefer GEL on my stock 4.4.2 ART version, I love transparents and Google Now integration
Stock with gel features would be cool. Transparency and the widgets being able to be accessed again from holding the home screen.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Since GEL I don't need alternative launchers anymore, same on other devices.
GEL is too buggy for me really

Launcher3 from AOSP!
Does launcher3 have transparency enabled? I don't get why Google keeps using the old launcher for the N4.

No it doesn't, which is why I attached the Moto X's launcher replace the one in system/priv-app with it, reboot and you get transparent Launcher3.
