You need matching mid, cid, and stock recovery. And you are all set.

Yes. As long as you have a cid that is relevant to this version (eg HTC__001) you will receive the ota update when it is released (hopefully today)
Don't forget, you also need stock recovery for it to install.
I'm a bit slow

S-Off Definitive answer needed.

My device is natively 1.28.61.7 cid ORANG001 (UK EE/Orange/T-Mobile) although my bootloader is unlocked and I have been running custom software since I got it.
I have successfully s-offed my device with revone, removed the tampered warning and set super cid just with the fastboot method.
My question is...Can I permanently 'debrand' my device and continually receive and install stock updates by
1 Changing my cid to HTC__001 by the fastboot method.
2 Running a 1.2x.401.x RUU
3 Receive and install ota updates.
Will this scenario work as I have seen many conflicting answers on this forum and, if yes, do I need my bootloader locked or unlocked??
Also, if this scenario proves to be successful, where would it leave me if a subsequent ota update closes the s-off loophole??
Any informed assistance would me much appreciated.
To completely debrand:
S-OFF
Supercid
Flash a unbranded RUU
change your cid to HTC_001( or one you want)
You will receive OTA and all you need

With Supercid you can't receive Official OTAs, so you have to set your cid to the One that receives updates First! for example, if your hear updates start rolling out in France for the french CID HTC_203, you just have to change your cid to HTC_203 and update via OTA, even if bootloader is unlocked, the most important for official updates is the CID!
If you're going to put supercid, that allow you to rom/firmware/ruu independantely from the CID, but not automatic official updates, just manual ones via recovery or fastboot (ruu).
Hope it clears out things

So quick question, I also have a Orange handset running 1.28.61.7... did you manage to S-off your device? ?
Just all i can see is there is no S-off for this software variant... please help.
Although when the device has a different model ID then the OTA will not install.
For example if your device has MID PN0714000 and you are trying to install OTA update 1.29.401.X then it will fail.

The software variant your running does not matter.
What matters is the CID and the MID.
I've posted the sections you need to read in the thread you opened.

From Sense 5 to stock Google edition...?

Hello everyone.
I have the htc one with sense (with this rom -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023)
I have it unlocked with htcdev.com (S-ON).
I would like to try the Google edition, and I saw I can download the file from HTCDev.
I was just wondering how can I do it... is it like a normal rom? download file copy to "sd" and flash?
Do I need to do anything else?
after I have the Google edition, will I be able to receive official updates? (OTA)
my HTC one is originaly with sense, will there be any issue if I use the GE instead?
Cheers

thk for the reply...
Im ok flashing a "normal" rom... but this seems to take a lot more work.
So, just to see if I understand correctly:
1 get soff following
2 change my MID to PN0712000
3 change my CID to GOOGL001 (but instead of GOOGL001 i can use 11111111 ? why should I chose one over the other? any benefits?)
4 then reboot and flash Full conversion RUU ZIP (in the end of the guide)
to flash the Full conversion RUU ZIP i have to run the following commands right? not by using recorery "install zip from sd card"
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15.zip
fastboot flash zip RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15.zip
fastboot reboot
Where do I run these commands?
Last thing, will I be able to receive OTA updates from google?
Cheers
You run the commands from a command prompt that is opened from the directory on your PC where fastboot is located.

yes you can use that guide and i recommend you do S-OFF, however you wont need S-OFF to use the ROM, everything should work fine if you wipe data and flash just like you did for ARHD, if you use this Google Edition ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395
with S-OFF you can change the CID later if you want. i personally havent flashed the Google bootloader because i want to switch between sense and google and everything still works fine

Completely possible. I've converted mine to GE and am running rgui sense rom until 4.3 drops for GE. Make a nandroid then flash any rom you want just like before you converted.

how to get back to 2.24.401.9 ?

Hey.
Im currently runing 4.3 GE on my HTC ONE. Did it with 4.3 GE RUU.
And sence touchgroup didn't release their RUU, I don't know to go back.
I thought about going back to some RUU of sense 5 4.1 (mabye 2.24.401.x) , and changing my Cid and ModelID to
PN0711000
HTC__K18
and get the 4.2.2 - 2.24.401.9 OTA update.
Is this possible? thanks.

That's good. So if I understand correctly you want to go back to 2.24.401.2 to be able to receive the OTA to 2.24.401.9? If yes then here's the backup:
stock rom: (originally for HTC__J15)
backup_2.24.401.2.zip 992.9 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!bJFwTK5A!dFlFjw9hCq98SHxPKC9jxRn9GdwcvcoBcKaDdn2pQJU

https://mega.co.nz/#!PQ9BnSBS!ZAqGcgKi7hXiXDXFs7yKaEQASMgcab5t4vjw19__92A
probably best to also flash a 2.24.401.1 firmware (or 2.24.401.2, don't think it's available though).
PS: the procedure you are about to take will probably wipe your phone so backup everything to your PC

anyway keep S-Off, that's your ticket if something goes bad.

2- Unfortunately, just changing CID and MID to "TouchGroup" (or any other carrier), won't be good enough to get OTAs, you need to be based on their ROM.
3- Other alternative: change CID and MID to European WWE (unbranded), run the RUU.exe and get OTAs that way. (the phone will look like a completely unbranded European WWE edition)

Hey man. Its been a few days , and I got the RUU I wished for.
So now I'm on :
Bootloader *Locked*
Android 4.3 Google Edition
system vers: 3.07.1700.1
Cid: HTC__K18
Mid: PN0711000
And I'm willing to flash Sense 5 - 2.24.401.9 - 4.2.2 RUU. ------- which only workes with my current Cid and Mid.
Would it go smooth? I'm going from 4.3 to 4.2.2... (I'm also asking about the downgrade, but generally on the whole procces.)

[Q] Have Supercid, should i be expecting an official update?

Hi i have the HTC One 801n. I know it is out in the US and dev edition of the One. Should i be expecting the update or does no one else have an update for it?
I thought this superCID thing speeds it right up?
You should keep you original cid to receive ota update or use one that match your main-ver
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yeah that is correct but superCID is basically removing reigon lock from which i can gather. I should receive an update the moment it is released. THough maybe there is 2 channels for the One, dev channel and main release one?
The phone shipped unbranded, but i just superCIDed it.
Do i have to manually flash some update? I got stock kernel, ROM, recovery. model is 801n unbranded, United Kingdom, 3.62.401.1, S-OFF

1- there is nothing newer at the moment for .401.
2- you will not receive ANY OTAs with SuperCID, set it to a WWE CID, such as HTC__001 (assuming you have a PN0710000)
I see, cheers for the answer, will do that right away! So basically superCID is pretty much pointless then right?

no it's great if you are manually flashing stuff not meant for your CID.
but for OTAs, you need the right stock ROM, MID, CID, and stock recovery; because OTAs are just a diff between two versions, so even if only 1 thing is slightly off, it can't apply the patches correctly.
Brilliant, thanks a lot for clearing that up for me! Now i kinda get it! Thanks
