[Q] Xperia TL Roms? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I have an Xperia TL with a locked bootloader. Can I install roms on this phone? I'd like to get the Xperia T version of Cyanogenmod, but I'm not sure if I can do anything with this phone.
Edit: It's the LT30at
Thanks for any help.

Please read the OP of all CM rom threads
Bootloader needs to be unlocked.
But you can install stock based roms.
Just look in the dev section and read up on the roms.

There is no ROMs for the Xperia TL so you would have to use xperia T Roms. Flash xperia t firmware but don't flash the xperia t baseband. Find a guide on how to use flash tool

So i followed the sony instructions for unlocking the bootloader and found that mine cannot be unlocked. Is there any way around this or am I stuck?

Yawn,

You are stuck. You can only flash stock-based ROMs. There are several in the Development section. I am currently using the Hybrid (Stock/CM10) ROM.

You're stuck. Your bootloader is probably unable to be unlocked. You can only go for stock-based roms. Roms like CyanogenMod or AOKP needs an unlocked bootloader.

Yes, you can use stock (XPERIA T) FTF's - just skip the baseband portion before you being flashing so you keep your AT&T baseband.
Then root with whatever method is needed
Then install CWM recovery
Then yes - you can flash stock-based (XPERIA T!) roms. You can usually tell the rom is stock/Locked Bootloader/LBL-friendly in the title of the thread, or in the first few posts of the thread. Also, I don't know how important this is - but also look to see what stock kernel the rom is based on (LT30p 141? 145? 489?). Stock kernel zips can be flashed via CWM recovery (I know that my Bell LT30a works fine with LT30p kernels, but I wonder if the AT&T LT30at will also be fine with it?). My favourite ROMS have been XperimenT and T-Hybrid so far... Good luck
And always keep your stock FTF handy! Because if any flashing you do doesn't work, you can always quickly fall back on a fresh whole FTF flash that is appropriate for your phone. Then the fun starts all over

Kernel
I did flash the kernel 145 from the T idk what really went wrong but my phone stuck on the sony logo
also i use XperimenT rom and flash it using CWM it install in about 7 secs which doesnt seems right . any suggestions ?

Problem solved

after trying diffrent method and days of trouble shooting with my friend
LaZiODROID there is a solution, using cwm(v9) would not format your system and data files thats the reason why the rom hangs at the sony logo because no system files were installed if u check the log, using cwm(v8) for the T,TL is the most stable and will install the rom and kernel with ease. Remeber to always wipe/factory reset then format system and in advance settings wipe dalvik before u install any rom.

[STOCK] LT30p Stock+Rooted 9.1.A.0.489 flashable in CWM

I know TiMiN8R made a Stock Rooted Deodexed rom for everyone but some people asked for just a Stock rom that wasn't deodexed so that's what I have made here. This is a stock firmware with only root added. Please note the kernel and CWM are not packed into this rom (though the reboot fix is) Please read the note at the bottom regarding bootloop issues.
Here you go: http://d-h.st/tAn
Installation for Unlocked Bootloader
* Make a backup - Always backup just in case you ****up (Data backed up through Sony's Backup & Restore app can be restored without issue)
* Flash any kernel you want to use that has built in recovery.
* Enter recovery
* Factory reset
* Flash rom.
Installation for Locked Bootloader
* Make a backup - Always backup just in case you ****up (Data backed up through Sony's Backup & Restore app can be restored without issue)
* Use flashtool to flash any generic ftf that can be rooted using Bin4ry's method. If you are already on a LT30 ICS/JB firmware that is rooted you can ignore this step.
* Root using Bin4ry's method.
* Install CWM for Xperia T Locked bootloaders
* Enter recovery, factory reset and flash the ROM.
* Flash the stock ftf (same version as the rom used ftf available in my signature) in Flashtool but uncheck Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Wipe app Log. Also exclude everything except for Kernel. (This is needed to update the Kernel to the latest stock version otherwise you may get a bootloop.)
**Keep LTE**
If you have a LT30at or LT30a and would like LTE with the LT30p rom then once you have flashed the above go back into Flashtool and flash the latest LT30at or LT30a ftf. UNCHECK Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Wipe app Log, and exclude everything EXCEPT for baseband. This should put LTE support back on the phone but keep the LT30p system.
*If you started on a rooted LT30at or LT30a firmware and flashed this rom straight from that you do not have to reflash the baseband as it is not overwritten by this rom.
You will need to reinstall CWM after flashing this rom if you want it. CWM is not baked into this rom.
**NOTE**
If going from ICS to JB you will get a bootloop after flashing and rebooting phone. Hold the power and Volume up button until the phone vibrates three times (simulated pulling of battery for non-removable batteries). You can then flash the JB kernel through flashtools to fix the bootloop.
You can also flash kernel from cwm.
http://d-h.st/wye
It's just a stock kernel with no cwm. It's especially for locked bootloader but unlocked bootloaders can use it as well.
Just use that link and you will find it

Hello Spectre51.
So, if I flash this ROM, it will use the Kernel I used to get into Recovery?
I'm coming from HTC devices, so Sony is new to me...
I would prefer to keep the stock kernel for now. In EMMA I do not see the option only to flash a kernel? I see the ICS stock .195 rom and then the JB Alpha build. Is that the .489 version?
I'm currently on the .489... Like the ROM but only need root on it.
Thx,
j

How to go back to stock

Hey guys, really new to android.
I unlocked my bootloader and installed the PAC Rom.
Now im wanting to go back to the stock rom.
I got an error using flashtool so i used CWM recovery to flash the stock firmware, but now it will not boot.
I still have the PAC icons when i first turn on the phone for some reason, and then it says xperia and i get to the coloured animation and it just stays on that.
Anyone know why this is or how to fix it? i have tried multiple tutorials but cant get it working.
help!

All stock ROM FTFs will include the kernel, CWM ROM zips don't, so they're no good for returning to stock unless you already have a kernel to go with the zip.

[STOCK][UBL] Android 4.3 Long Winded Rooting Guide

Hello guys, i have been playing around with the new offical 4.3 rom, I have found a little way for now to get rooted, take a look below...
***Disclaimer, I am not responsible if you blow up your phone, loose data, or do anything silly, I am merely trying to help, and point people in the right direction***
Okay it's a long winded approach to get rooted, but i guess it will have to do for the time being... Until a new updated rooting tool is available.
Here we go then , you will need these things:
SuperSU Install zip
Doomkernel v08 kernel.elf file
Stock Sony 4.3 kernel, attached to this post.
UBL (Unlocked Boot Loader!)
A brain and common sense.
Lets go then, first install the stock android 4.3 FTF....
Once this is done disconnect your phone, put it into fastboot mode and install the Doomkernel. Now upon boot, go into recovery, and install the SuperSU zip normally.
Once this is done, power off your phone (Holding down the power and volume up)
Go into Fastboot mode again, and install the provided stock Sony 4.3 Kernel.
Unplug your phone, boot it, and there you go, rooted stock android 4.3.
If you have any questions ask, no question is too stupid, or PM me and i'll help you best I can.
Reserved for more information, FaQ ETC...

V7 should work just fine, all we are after is the recovery to flash the SuperSU

Never did before on sony and the biggest problem for me was entering in recovery, so just in case, to enter recovery, when LED is pink press {vol up for 2012 models} or {vol down for 2011 models}

Flashing ROM with Locked Bootloader?

Hi there,
At the moment I'm running Android 4.4.2 Stock ROM, but I want to switch to MIUI V5. I would like to know if it's possible to do this while having a locked Bootloader.
P.S.: First I used the towelroot-method to get root acces, then I installed SuperSU and CWM Recovery. So that's already done.
It should be possible. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-miu-z-4-2-2-multilang-v2-5-10-3-1-2-t2467408
Just follow the steps for locked bootloaders.

Thank you for the fast reply! I'll try it. By the way are there any bugs in the ROM I've mentioned? I can't read any Chinese and Google Translation doesn't translate that well.
Isn't MIUI based on AOSP/CM? If it is, then you cannot flash it on a locked bootloader.
Edit - It seems the rom that gripfly linked to can be flashed on locked bootloaders. Disregard my post. ?

Too bad it's an outdated ROM. I would love to see the newest MIUI ROM running on this beauty, but I'm too scared to try it out and mess it up, and then risking to lose the DRM key.
Edit: Are there any good ROMS with nice GUI apart from Sony's UI for the Xperia Z? The MIUI ROM V5 is based on Android 4.2.2, which is more a downgrade than an upgrade...

There are many good ROMs on the forum.
Actually, UI varies from person to person so it's very difficult to say which one is better, you can search in the forum and find a suitable one.
As for me, I highly recommend PA which include many good features.
Locked bootloader means stock based ROMs only.

Wow that looks great, will that rom have a performance hit?
I make daily backups with titanium and nandroid. Is that sufficient to fully recover back to how my phone is now if I want to remove the ultimate pure xt rom?
Also how do I know what roms are based on stock firmware?

Just install a recovery (like Philz touch) and make a backup from there, in order to be able to resume everything if you need to revert back.
How to know if a rom is based on stock? Just read the description within the first post

With a nandroid backup you will totally replace your phone with what is backed up, so, yes, it will restore your phone to the exact same configuration and ROM as it had when you backed it up. Doesn't back up the kernel though, so be careful with that.

Gravitybox allows for customizing certain visual aspects and functions of the phone (read up on the features). If you don't understand what it is, you most likely don't need it; if you wanted extra functions on your phone you'd Google how to do it and eventually end up at some solution for what you're looking for, such as Gravitybox.
And depending on what function of Gravitybox you're using, you might see some some decrease in speed. For instance, at least for me, when replacing and adding buttons to the navigation bar, sometimes it was a bit slower to respond; nothing I couldn't live with in order to improve Sony's Stock ROM.
I forgot to mention I already did install a recovery.
A rom that is based on the stock rom won't replace the kernel will it? Therefore the fact that nandroid doesn't back up the kernel isn't a problem right?

I am about to install that rom. But I have a small problem:

6. Now install the ROM.
7. Once finished installing the ROM, you have to flash immediately the UPDATE-SuperSU.

could someone tell me these steps in a bit more detail please?
Wipe cache I THINK would be done from recovery yes? I have literally no idea what "dalvik cache" means. And do I do a factory reset the normal way? from inside the settings menu?
"Install the rom" I would assume is done through flashtool? or recovery? (I know how to do it, just don't know which one). Then I ASSUME installing UPDATE-SuperSU is done in the same way as installing the rom?
There's just a few details I'm not clear on, I never get answers by asking for more detailed installation steps inside the official rom thread, so I won't bother asking there.

Everything has to be done from recovery...
Rom and superSU are ZIP files and have to be flashed inside recovery.
Wipe cache, then go in Advanced and wipe dalvik-cache.
If you're coming from a rom on Android 4.3 you don't need to wipe data, else you have to.
