Hi, I am planning to get me a brand new HTC ONE either tomorrow, or on Sunday. My biggest confusion is whether I will be able to flash the nexus edition ruu on the notmal HTC ONE that I get with att or bell.
Also, in terms of CM10.1, there are so many versions in the one dev forum that I have no clue which is the most stable/best one.
Finally, can someone please tell me whether the PA rom for the One is any good?
Thanks for all your replies in advance.
We don't know because we haven't seen a GE RUU.
Here you go DEV community!
One Google Play Edition Stock UI http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/m7-jb-crc-3.4.10-7edee3c.zip
One Google Play Edition Frameworks and supports http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/framework.new.zip
Neither look like RUUs though, so I am a bit confused as to which one IS the RUU.
Neither of those is an ruu.
A RUU would be obvious, you can't miss it.

Ok first off I'm not all that familiar with htc's ways. I know that with previous bootloader unlocks we were able to flash custom roms and what not. Now with S-off we are able to change anything on the phone software wise. So that being said is carrier branding not so much an impact now?
For instance,
My phone is an att htc one which can receive AT&T ota updates. I know with the bootloader unlock I was able to flash international roms and have all the updated goodies of the international phone owners. But that being said I was still not able to receive international OTA updates since I was still branded AT&T.
Is the Cid what determines this?
If so, with s-off can we just change it to the international, developer edition, or any other carrier ID that we choose. Then flash an RUU from that carrier and then practically be the same as having the international or developer edition phone? Would we then be able to receive OTAs just like the dev or international editions get?
Yes, you can run any RUU on your phone. That does not guarantee everything will work, however.
Flashing firmware from another carrier won't get you OTAs from them. Getting OTAs is a combination of your CID and your carrier. I can tell you from my experience with the One X, lots of folks who got AT&T phones and took them overseas after sim unlocking never got any AT&T OTAs. So I doubt it would work on this phone either.
I don't know what will happen with the Google edition, when it comes out. I don't think anyone knows until it's released. It's possible you will get OTAs from Google if you can get that on your phone.

Thanks for your response.
Ok say for instance I buy an HTC One Dev edition strait from htc. I then put that phone on at&ts service. I would stiill get ota's strait from htc right?
So for my at&t branded htc one with s-off. Assuming that I have the cid from the dev edition and a stock dev edition ruu, what else would be there to stop me from getting ota's strait from htc like the dev edition does?
First off, to use dev ruu you need supercid.

So you couldnt install a dev ruu with the dev cid? What else would keep it from installing?
Ok let me put it like this. As far as I know there is no hardware differences between the htc one dev edition and the htc one at&t edition. That being said since we have s-off and are now able to change anything and everything on the phone software wise, can we not convert our at&t devices over to htc one dev editions and get OTAs directly from HTC and what not?
what is supercid? cid - 11111111?

yes that is supercid
As long as you have the dev edition cid and the dev edition ruu, theoretically you should get the OTA updates. Same with the Google Edition because these two are not carrier branded and the updates come directly from HTC and Google.

I thought Google will be the one releasing all the updates for the Nexus edition (Google experience) phones?
Consider Developer Edition still stuck on 4.12, I would hope Nexus edition updates are handled by Google not HTC

Hey guys, I just purchased a Google Edition HTC One and I'm waiting to receive it from shipping. My question is can I flash ROMs from the HTC One international version? Im not exactly sure how the Google Edition is identified so I'm not sure if I'm suppose to be sticking to this forum section for international unlocked devices or AT&T version for instance.
I know that despite it is a Google Edition, if I recall correctly, it's just possibly an AT&T or T-Mobile variant. So I just wanted to know, if I am going to be flashing ROMs onto this Google Edition HTC One, which version of the phone I should be in for forum sections before I cause irreversible damage. I really want to get Paranoid Android or Revolt ROM onto it ASAP.
Thanks for any insight

So, this is the forum you want, go to original android dev in this forum, these roms are there but still waiting resources from google!!, if you are asking about sense roms, i think you will be able flash them once you achieve s-off and supercid

Is there a reason why I must stay specifically in original android development? The ROM I'm eyeing is in the android development section. I'm not looking for any sense ROMs. I love the stock experience with the ability to change DPI's on my apps. That's it. Sorry if I'm not understanding it all right away, so I will be in HTC One forum but cannot jump into android development section just yet? I don't get what you mean by resources from google.
quick side note question, is the google edition bootloader unlocked?
Thanks for the quick responses
edit: i just realized Revolt ROM 4+, the one I'm looking to load, is in android original development. didn't mean to confuse anyone.
Anyone have answer to my earlier questions?
I wonder why anyone would want to buy a Google search edition phone but all you simply have to do is flash an appropriate ROM on the normal HTC One.

To answer your question.. I'm sure you'll be able to flash any roms you would like...don't see a reason why not same hardware basically
You can flash roms from the international version make sure have the things that are required for the rom you like take a look around there's plenty already
thanks.
Hey guys I'm planning on buying an HTC one and I had a few questions about the GE version.
1. Where is the development? I can't find any recoveries or anything about the GE version.
2. Will sense roms be able to flash or since the bootloader is different that will cause incompatibility?
3. Do you think the resale value worse than say the AT&T version?
1. I don't understand that question.
2. Yes you can flash Sense ROMs.
3. I do not foresee things.

There is no official dev yet.

there isn't anyone witha shipped phone yet, and I seriously doubt many people on XDA would buy one. There's no reason to, the phone is identical hardware wise to the AT&T phone, software will leak for it, software always leaks.
Someone with an S-off phone can install the leaked RUU when it surfaces and convert their phone to the Google edition.
Thanks for the answers guys. I went ahead and bought a sense version.
Hello to all,
Point me in the right direction xda? I have an htc one gpe. I found instructions to root and unlock and will proceed eventually. But the question is if this is the appropriate forum for roms for my gpe. I'm interested in installing paranoid android. But will it or any other rom by the m7 version work on gpe? If it's not a t-mobile or att or sprint thread, then m7 should be compatible is what i'm thinking.
Regards,
Vic

When your bootloader is unlocked and you have custom recovery you can install whichever Rom you want...
Look for PA in original developement forum...
Good luck
Hi guys, super excited just got an M9, I have been rocking a HTC EVO from Sprint for many years. I loved the phone and the custom rom I had made the phone last.
Anyways, just switched over to tmobile. Just got the phone. Wondering if it makes sense to download the RUU from htc and install marshmellow that way as opposed to hodge podge updates from tmobile? Also figured it would be bloat free.

RUU are the same as if you got it from the Store, bloat and all.
I would take the chance and S-OFF if you can/IF YOU WANT... This update might block S-OFF.
But personally I'm S-OFF and always go for the RUU. OTA tend to be bad downloads sometimes. And you have a fresh Marshmallow experience compared to a Lollipop to Marshmallow update which might carry over issues/bugs.
Thanks for the reply Tachi! So I should definately S off before going either route. Going to install TWRP. Any other recommendations before hand?
I thought if you used the stock htc RUU, that any bloatware from t-mobile would not be on there.

The RUU's are given to HTC after the carriers make their changes to them. Unless you convert to a Dev/European edition.. But then you'll still have some bloatware, just a small handful(<4ish).
Follow the typical S-OFF threads around here.... Other then that be cautious of what you do
