Thx

1)Goto bootlader - > fastmode , and flash custom recovery again.
2) When receive custom recovery, flash rom.
3) Get S-OFF, and only when try to flash RUU, without S-OFF you can't downgrade from 2.19 to 1.28

Strange no ?

Why you need adb?
Flash recovery via fastboot.. type
1) fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img
2) fastboot erase cache

Probably to push the custom rom onto the SD card in order to flash it in recovery

When he will receive working recovery with sideload support, the adb sideload command will be work fine as there will be a support interface(protocol) from recovery.

Did you relock? What error did you get? Was it the right ruu.

What does your device manager on the laptop show? Try different usb port. stay away from usb 3.0 ports to be safe. sometimes i have to unplug and replug before the phone shows..Also reboot laptop if still dont see it.

Fastboot and ADB are two very different modes.
The phone can be detected in fastboot and not be detected in dab, either due to a driver issue or bad usb cable.

I'm sorry, what do you try to explain to me? I know about these modes.
Please read carefully dialogs and why my phrase was told.
At a topic starter works fastboot, but adb doesn't work, ADB and NOT WILL fully work without OS on phone. he tries something to do with phone using adb, way in anywhere in case of its situation.

YES! Without OS, only one way to flash recovery - fastboot! Therefore I advise to OP to forget adb, to flash recovery.

[Q] help me reinstall OS and root my nexus one

I've got a nexus one with a broken power button and a corrupt OS. It rarely successfully manages to boot. Since this is the case, I'm not able to turn on USB debugging to follow some of the tutorials here..
My next try was fastboot.. I downloaded these two files:
recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion.img
update-cm-7.1.0-N1-signed.zip
But it seems like I wont be able to flash a recovery file if I have "s-on" displayed on my hboot or fastboot screen..
How do I gain "s-off"? And is it possible to flash a stock rom via fastboot?
And yes, my phone's got stock gingerbread 2.3.4 rom.
HBOOT 0.35.0017
MICROP 0b15
Touch panel SYNT0103
Radio 5.08.00.04
Please help me with this matter as I have been trying to accomplish this task for over three months now..
Read Nexus One wiki, section "root", and section "recovery".
You don't need S-OFF to flash anything, if you unlock your bootloader. This is Nexus.
Boot into fastboot, plug into your PC, open command prompt wherever you have the fastboot command in Windows, most likely in android sdk under platform-tools, run "fastboot oem unlock" from command prompt, your bootloader is now unlocked. Attempt to flash your recovery now."

It's already unlocked, as there is a small open lock displayed at the bottom of the boot screen.. and fastboot displayed it as already unlocked as well.. still.. i need a way to go to recovery without the power button
If you're in the bootloader - "fastboot reboot recovery".
If you're in the OS or while the OS is booting and ADB daemon is already running - "adb reboot recovery".

fastboot reboot recovery doesnt seem to boot the phone to recovery..
should the OS be completely booted up if I want to use the adb command? because it displays the error "error: device not found" when I try to "adb reboot recovery"
Might this be a problem with my computer? I checked and confirmed that the drivers for the phone are successfully installed...

I've attached an image showing proof that I've tried your method but still kept on failing to reboot to recovery..
When i try the command "fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion.img", the phone simply restarts and goes back to the 'X' boot screen and gets stuck there.
Could anyone please find me an genuine unedited gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM so I can PASSIMG it? ... I've downloaded several rooted ones.. but all seem to need the "android-info" file
fastboot reboot recovery
No "reboot-recovery".
And if you still get stuck on "X" when you reboot to recovery - it means that your recovery is corrupted/unusable too, and you need to PASSIMG everything.
Generally, booting the recovery through "fastboot boot" should have done enough - if your phone can't boot, it might probably be a HW problem preventing it from booting, and in that case - nothing will help.

Could anyone please provide me with a genuine stock gingerbread 2.3.4 or higher PASSIMG file? i've searched a lot but all i see are modded or rooted ones.
Yes, you're right. Fastboot can't reboot to recovery, only adb.
Oh well, in that case you're out of luck. You can't PASSIMG without power button, so if "fastboot boot some_boot_image" doesn't help - there's not much left to do.
You could always disassemble the phone and fix the power button...

Here's the 2.3.6 PASSIMG zip file link. Follow the directions. If you can get into BootLoader, your phone should automatically boot this if you have it named to PASSIMG.zip, and on the ROOT of your SD card:

You should push with adb a custom ROM.zip file and flash it.
Or mount a USB stick with an OTG cable and flash it from there. But you have to flash TWRP recovery with the OTG USB method.
To push a custom ROM.zip file while you're in recovery mode (also read here):
copy the ROM.zip to the same folder where your adb/fastboot files are.
open a cmd window from that folder
type "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard"
when finished reboot to your recovery
wipe system, data and caches (DON'T wipe the sd card content)
flash your ROM
If you have problems with adb not recognizing your device try a PC with Windows 7 and USB 2 port, install HTC drivers from here and use the mini-sdk for your adb/fastboot folder.

Yes it is, he was trying to prevent you from losing anything on the sd card, since the updated ROM will relocate where the sdcard storage is found.
Although I don't think it is relevant since you most likely have a wiped phone.. Seeing as there is no OS installed.

Okay, do you have any rom(eg. ARHD).zip on your phone? If you do, flash that via twrp, and you're done
If you don't, copy a rom to a USB flash drive and connect it to your phone with an OTG Cable, and flash it via twrp
If you don't have an OTG cable, try this to sideload a rom to your internal sd card http://teamw.in/ADBSideload

When your phone is in fastboot, type
fastboot devices
Does it list your phone?
If it doesn't, try changing USB ports/cord, and also try uninstalling and then fresh installing new drivers after restarting your pc, then connecting your phone.

It's definitely NOT bricked. I'll keep an eye on this thread, you're getting great help but if you don't end up getting it fixed send me a PM, I sometimes forget about a thread I need to check back in on. It's for sure fixable and there's great advice in here.
Edit I somehow missed your last post before posting this. Send me a PM, and I'll help you get it fixed up after work.

ok so fastboot is working, as suggested before post a "fastboot getvar all" (remove IMEI and s/n).
If sideload isn't working you can use "adb push", but first thing is to reflash custom recovery just in case it's corrupted.
so download CWM or TWRP (from the threads in xda), then
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter RECOVERY
then
adb push <name of rom>.zip /sdcard/ (this will take anywhere between 5 to 15minutes and not show progress, eventually it should come back with "success")
then
install zip in recovery, and choose the <name of rom>.zip and install it.

HELPPP deleted my internal storage

Ok guys I went to wipe my htc one using twrp and I accidently wiped my internal storage so there nothing on my device to boot up I can get into twrp but I dont have any zips on there to flash I also tried to sideload but adb wont recognize my device which is weird because fastboot works fine I went to bestbuy Walmart radioshack to by an otg cable and try it with flash drive but no one has one so I ordered one from ebay but it will take a week to get it can someone please help with any other sugestions please pleasee I need my phone back
You may have to switch recoveries to TWRP 2.6.3.3 OR 2.6.3.0, and use a windows 7 machine.

What will switching recoverys do?
Did you try "adb push rom.zip /sdcard/rom.zip" while you were on the home screen of the recovery?

Try it in recovery and also check to see if the device is being detached while in recovery by typing in "adb devices" in the command prompt.
Nope
If I use htc one toolkit while in bootloader and I fastboot I get my device show up but when I do adb I get nothing

So no adb in recovery, but fastboot working hmm. So adb devices shows nothing?
Your device is obviously being detected to have fastboot working.
Try adb kill-server to reset adb and then check if it's detectable in recovery, also make sure to mount the data.
Use a different computer if available
Make sure you don't have any tethers installed that would ruin adb like easy tether
Try downloading and reinstalling the adb universal set up drivers.
Try running a RUU if you can
Sorry if i'm not much help I'm still noobish to all this still

Your welcome glad its working finally

[Q] i really need help!!!

hi everyone
last week i flashed a KK rom, and i saw in recovery "can't access internal sorage" when i wanted to backup the rom. BUT i could download and flash other roms from the phone.plus, fastboot was not showing anymore "fastboot usb" but "fastboot ac" only, and my PC shows "unknown device" and doesnt see the phone.
i downloaded another rom, and to install it, i wiped data, cache, dalvik, and BY MISTAKE i wiped "internal storage".
and the result is.....: no rom inside the phone, i can't boot because i wiped system, i am still "fastboot ac", so i can't use adb commands....
i tried several cables, computers, tried to reinstall drivers etc....
my one is unusable ::// ....if some experts have an idea, i'd be fan
THANX!!!
i'm s-off

i'm worried about something: i flashed a KK rom, that i downloaded in my htc one, and after i installed it and wanted to store the backup of the rom in twrp, it said "no storage available". when i came back home, my phone was not recognized by my pc, whereas it was before.
thats where it comes from i think.
i'm a heavy flasher since i had the nexus one!
