Hi, my AHD recently died and I've gotten a warranty replacement. 2 questions I have are, can I microwave this phone to erase all data, and if so, for how long? And would that be with the battery in or out? 2nd question is, how can I find out if my replacement is a refurb or new?
Thanks!!!

Oh, that would to microwave the one I have to return, not the replacement.
Thanks

WTF? Microwave?
I have no idea which Jackass movie you saw this on but I WOULD NOT SUGGEST IT
Please for godsakes dont ever try putting anything with a battery in a microwave.
Your phone has metal. Lots of it. You're seriously going to do a lot more damage than you think you're setting out to do.
Something safer than this would be utilizing a strong permanent magnet to wipe data. Still would not recommend though
Actually, saw the microwave suggestions in the A2 forums, not really sure if it was tounge in cheek...didn't read the whole thing. Just want to erase any info and the fact that is was rooted and the BL unlocked.

Flash a rom for another device. That'll brick it lol. Definitely don't microwave it. Factory reset it and smash it on the ground or something.

We have had someone do this before. MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE ACCIDENTAL COVERAGE. If not, you'll have just wrecked your phone and can't replace it.
Just borrow a friend's phone and call your carrier saying it fell off the counter or something (something that would have had enough force to do this, maybe say you put it on top of your car and drove away) and cracked the screen and won't turn on.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
And if you DO end up microwaving it (the new microwave are metal safe I guess. I just got and it came with a metal rack that you put in it ) make sure you video tape it and share lol.

when my toddler microwaved my wife's old phones it only took about a half of a second to fry lol.
PS it left burn marks on the phone so bad idea for warranty but skeevydude mentions in his beginners guide to wire a 110 volt cord onto a micro usb plug it in and fry the board.
Anybody with a strong magnet is free to confirm this myth and report back. http://www.chacha.com/question/could-a-magnet-hurt-a-micro-sd-card

@ OP
IF you're running an unlocked bootloader I can modify the kernel to use SUPER high voltages and fry out the processor.....just throwing it out there.
@deeje00
He can always remove the sdcard....takes a whole 10 seconds

Ok so my usb port broke off so I was using a razr well my daughter broke that by throwing it... so with no phone I grabbed my D4 I pulled the battery charged it to like 3% put the battery back in and powered it up... I made a Frankenstein cable that will charge it via the inductive charging pins... came back a few hours later to see it was charged... so there's the back story... now my issue it will not recognize the sim card says no service no sim card... so I switch back to stock (i was on avatar) same on stock no service no sim... but the stock reboots like every 2-20 mins never the same time frame... avatar it'll go all day with out a reboot... I get my new phone in 2 days but I go back to work tomorrow and need a phone... I have fr the stock ROM, put the sim in a different phone it does work... Put a different sim in mine it did not.... On avatar I Swapped sims, fr full wipe and reflash ROM fixed permissions... I am really at a lose here... I thank you kindly for any in put..

I think my loud speaker on the back of my phone opposite the screen is blown.
Whenever I have someone on speakerphone they make a cracking sound.
This happens on several different ROMs so it isn't a software issue.
So If I buy a replacement is it as easy as just unscrewing the back case and prying out the blown speaker???
I see replacements online for cheap and when I open the phone it looks straight forward.
Any help appreciated.
Thx

It isn't quite that easy, but it isn't all that difficult. Go find one of the EB40 mod threads, and follow those instructions to get the back plastic bit off. I think the speaker can then be dropped in, but I'm not sure.
I have the same problem but I think it's the rom because when I am listening to my music it is OK
Try stock rom
Sent from my Atrix HD using xda premium
Exactly what he said. Pretty sure it's just the rom.
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
I am using the AOKP youngunn ROM and it does only do it on speakerphone calls and not when playing music. If this is the case then is there a fix?
Thx
sent from my Atrix HD MAXX
I to think it is software prob. I replaced the speaker in mine and had no real change in audio quality. But while you are in there do the eb40 mod, you won't regret it.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Already did the battery mod and the last time I was in there I tried to pry it out gently but it wouldnt budge.
Now my problem is that the screws are starting to strip from opening it up so much.
Anyone know where I can get T5 screws for this that are the same size?
sent from my Atrix HD MAXX
Yeah I stripped two of mine out first time I opened it. Closed it back up and went to Sears and got a good t5 driver.

Hello all;
i am about to buy a phone for myself and the atrix and the htc one s are my two options if the moto 'x' is not affordable by me. i wanted to know if the phone is any good. if i ask the question on any other thread some guy who has never used the device will answer the question. comming form the htc thunderbolt and a life-time of misery i wanted to also know if there are any serious problems with the device.
The only drawback I've had is night time photos. But I don't generally use my phone as a camera so yeah fine lol.

so no dying suddenly or random call/wifi drops nothing of that sort ? i came form the htc tbolt and faced those problems and am quite cautious to buy htc again so this just seemed a better option.
as for photos i do not use my phone camera all that much for taking photos
one more thing does this have official cm support
We don't have a official cm yet but we're close. We have a good amount of rom choices though. And the battery stock isn't the greatest, not the worst either. But I did the razr maxx battery swap and now it lasts through my 17 hour day every day.

Same way ya swap on an iPhone, unscrew the case apart and put the new one in.
The only problem with Moto Phones is the lack of updates to them, though that's usually the fault of the carriers, not Moto. That's where the scene comes to the rescue and provides us with more roms than we care to use.
Looking at the rumored specs, the X is nothing more than an updated RAZR\Atrix HD. Everything is the same, except no sd card (I really hope that isn't the case), a gig more ram, slightly better cameras, slightly faster cpu, much better gpu, same screen size, same resolution, same motherboard (msm8960). I also think we'll be running the X's 4.3 within a week or two, a month tops, of its release, they're that similar.
Whichever phone you get, you'll be happy.
Most of us here are gonna be getting an X by years end and will repurpose the Atrix as a glorified mp3 player, wireless nic adapter, portable streaming media center (VuDu, NetFlix, Hulu, Prime), etc.
is this correct? the device is now officially cm 10.2 supported

You can buy a razr maxx battery and with a little light surgery, you can install it into the atrix HD. YouTube has a couple of videos that'll show you how to do it.

I actually found the stuff immediately after asking the question - the process doesn't look terribly complicated, I may give it a try.
OK so the weirdest thing happened just now. I was charging my atrix HD when I went on it to check a phone number. Then it started opening apps and going on xda then other apps. I had no control over it. I couldn't even turn it off. I had to do the power and volume down thing to shut off. It was very creepy. I was just looking for a minute while the person did what they did. It was like when a person from dell controls your computer if something isn't working right. At first I thought it was being laggy but no! It kept going settings were changed and the person tried playing music on it! I turned it off before he could but the wierdest part is that I had turned of my wifi and set my phone on airplane mode so it can charge faster. No communication what so ever. Right now its off and I plan to keep it that way until someone can tell me what to do to protect myself. Also this could have been happening before i went to go check my phone. Which was like 15 minutes before I checked it. Please help

Best thing to do is just wipe.
Easy way to do it is to go to Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset

Another thing to be aware of is I've noticed Motorola's screens (at least on the Atrix models) are kind of finnicky. If there's a little bit of moisture around they just start registering touches on their own sometimes.
With my battery life being... less than ideal.. I find myself plugging into all kinds of chargers along my travels. Some non moto chargers make my phone go nuts, exactly like what was described - apps opening etc. Have experienced this several times. Feel the other explanations are possible of course but highly unlikely.

Seeing as most PS3 sites give me no response I figured I'd post here and see if the great xda community could help...
Well I bought a phat PS3 from a yard sale for 25 bucks, guys said it wouldn't take disks, i figure hell the disk drives out I have a spare why not. I take it home disassembled it and find the the guy broke the clamp for the ribbon cable to the mother board. So now where I'm at is how do I Gerry rig this cable into place, where it will hold a constant connection, any ideas?
O also I tried running a firmware update and am now stuck in a boot loop of update because it can't find the drive...FAIL ON MY BEHALF :banghead:
