I can not see a custom option that allows you to change or add a custom label for another cell number? Say the person has more then one mobile number or different mobile numbers in different countries. We only see Mobile,Home,Work,Work Fax,Home Fax,Pager,Car,Company Main,Radio,Assistant and Other with no custom option.
On the Samsung Note II there is a custom option at the bottom of the list which allows you to custom add your other name for the number.
Anyone able to chime in on this?
That is strange. If I edit a contact and add a phone number, I can change the type of number e.g. Work, Mobile etc. and have a custom option to create my own label.

Not on my HTC ONE. Under other there should be a custom label option which does not exist on my HTC ONE.

Screen hot of my label screen. Not sure why you don't have the option.

What source have you got selected for your phone book? If SIM and phone contacts only, you won't get the custom option. Sync your contacts with Gmail and select that as a source instead.

I do not want to sync my contacts with either Gmail nor Facbook. The "Custom" label/option should be there regardless of whether we choose to sync with Gmail or Facebook. On my Samsung Note 2 I am not syncing with Gmail and the "Custom" option exists.
Neither did I. I'd rather keep them on the phone but if you do, quite a few options are missing. So I set up a Gmail account purely for syncing purposes. I do not use it for mail. Only have my contacts on there.

I got an HD7 off Craig's the other day and have been having rouble syncing my google contacts properly.
coming from a Nexus One, all my contacts are saved on Google. So I created a gmail account and synced my contacts, email and calendar. All the contacts do show on my People Hub, but the problem is, it's only names, no phone numbers!
Am I doing something wrong? I've tried syncing manually too with no success.
Please help!

Are your Google Contact's phone numbers labeled properly? Windows Phone 7 will only recognize specific labels. So for example, if you were to label a phone number in your contact's entry as "Blahblah", Windows Phone will not recognize that as an entry and it will not appear in your contact on your phone. It has be labeled as Home, Work, or Mobile in order for Windows Phone to recognize it.

Thanks for the reply.
I made sure all my contacts were labeled as "Mobile" because the Nexus wont show them up for messaging if they arent. So no, that isnt a problem.
Any other suggestions?
Btw, the HD7 works flawlessly with my $5.99 t-zones plan, which is the only reason I bought it off of Craigslist even though I was eligible for an upgrade..

Is it just the phone numbers that do not show up? What about other details like birthday, address and what not, do those show up properly?
Also, try creating a new contact and just throw some bogus random information in there and see if the new contact syncs properly.
I have all contacts on my sim card. How do i put some of these in my favorites tab ? Do you have to add new contact to get pictures/special ringtones ... for the existing numbers ?

I think the contacts has to be on the phone for that. And why are you not doing that?. I have all my contacts on Google, which means that the second I get a new android device I have my contacts etc up and running within minutes of powering on my phone

Can i import my contacts from my P990 to my Gmail/ contacts ?
Im not sure which LG phone the P990 is unless its actually the LG 2x . But yes you can.
The trick is importing all the contacts from sthe sim to the phone. And then change the contact "setting" from Phone to Gmail/Google and then it all gets synched there.
Only downside is that all contacts that you have on Google that emails you and such, gets synched to the phone as well. So I regularly go through my google contacts and clean them out to remove all those contacts I dont want. Either that or simply choose not to show contacts without a phone number in my list of contacts on my phone.

You could assign a group to those contacts you want to show in the phones contact list, and on the phone filter by that group.
To import contacts from X2 to gmail it needs CSV- or vCard-file ?
No,
are the contacts on your phone now, or still on your SIM?

I have them on my phone
Im not sure how you do it on the LG, but I know I had the option to change a contat from being just a phone contact and change it into being a google one. Being a google one meaning that it would sync to googles cloud and thus be accessible on every android device I would ever own.

Hi all,
For all years, I could not find a way to add a new phone number to google contact from samsung captivate. Usually, the way I got the new phone number from a person is that I get his/her number and call it right away so that we both have log on our phones. Then, I add the name. But I never find a way to add it to google contact. Then, later at home, I need to log in gmail and manually add it again. Is there way to add it on the phone? If yes, can you tell me step by step? I appreciate it a lot~
After u create the new contact just go to Menu/ Settings/ Accounts and sync and then click on your Google account and select Sync Contacts.
Also u can go to the Contacts/ Menu/ More/ Settings and then select "Save new contacts to" and u can choose Google. And if u have the Auto-sync on and the Sync Contacts checked, it will sync ur new contacts for you when u add them.
Thanks a lot. Never thought there is a setting for the contact. Have a good night.

Hello,
I've flashed my Sensation Xl to JB 4.2.2 with Evervolv-3.2.0-runnymede_20130313. Everythins fine but I've lost two options on contacts.
1. There is no combine option for a contact. For example I can combine contact X's google and/or telephone contact with his/hers facebook, whatsapp, whatsoever account. It also recommends to combine the smilar names, numbers into one.
Then If I do this, I could see all his different account details of the same person from his contact card, if he is already on my other accounts. When I click the contact card, was asking options to call/sms him by mobile no, skype, viber, whatsapp etc.
Now, this option lost. Same contact shows 5 times in the list for his different accounts or none of them shows (only for his phone number).
Is this the new JB 4.2.2 behaviour or this rom somehow has different contact app?
2. Again there was another option named 'Contacts to display' and I can chose "Phone only", "Simcard". "Google Contacts", "Facebook" etc.
Now, "Simcard" and "Phone only" options gone. Also I can not add a contact to phone or simcard (No option for this anymore). Google only.
If I delete my google contact then try to add a contact, it asked either login to goole or the new contact will be stored in local.
Answering no, goes to local and add the contact to card. But as soon as I log into google it transfer this local contact to my gmail account and delete from google.
Long story short; I can not store my contacts in local(sd card) and backed up to google at the same time like I did before.. One or the other only. But what if I do not want to store my contact details in my gmail account only. I want to be sure to keep them in my sdcard and/or sim, Just in case I couldn't reach my gmail account in the future. Btw; no option the see my simcard contacts anyway.
What did I do wrong.
I appreciate for any kind of help.
Thank you

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a solution on how to specify which contactlist is to be shown in the telephone app (NOT the contacts app)
right now, my S10 displays ALL contacts, from all sources (google accounts, simcard, phone contacts) together and thats just a mess....
I want it to show my contacts from my google account only...
So is it possible to select a specific contactlist to display only?
please keep in mind, that I am talking about the contacts in the telephone app, not the "contacts" app.
thanks for your help
oh, no one with this problem?
I also have this issue. On Huawei's EMUI it was possible to choose the contact list including groups when using Google.
Same problem but no solution... ):
I'm using the Groups-Icon in the contact list to filter. But it's kinda annoying. It's faster to search for the specific contact.

thank you for your screenshots, which actually show how to create a new contact and where to store it.
But my problem is, that I want the telephone app to show contacts from one specific source only...
For example: show / display contacts from gmail-account X only...
