I've taken my camera to a couple of gigs but on both occasions the resulting video has bad interference when using the zoom. Here is an example at 1:36, 1:52, 2:56, 3:15 and 3:38. Has anybody else suffered from this? I'm suspecting some dirty mechanics in there and may have to return it to Amazon. If it was simply high volume sound distortion then fair enough but it appears to only happen when using the zoom, particularly zoom out.

No problems for me, I had an expensive Nikon camera that had a pretty loud motor noise on zoom, but I am pleased to say I can't hear it on any video I have shot so far.

Glad to hear that, thanks for the reply. I've sent mine back to Amazon and will get another tomorrow in time for Bobby Womack on Sunday. There's so much else brilliant about the camera any other one would seem so retro!

I got another one, this time in blue/black and sadly have to report exactly the same problem as seen in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MJ1Zm7lJCo
It's still not too late to return it to Amazon. I called Samsung but they kept asking me if I got the zoom crackling on photos, I tried to explain you wouldn't notice a crackling noise on a photograph.
Tonight I'm going to a quieter gig so will test it out one more time but if it screws up the audio on acoustic songs then back it will have to go.
Hello everyone,
I've been looking for low light video tests of the HTC ONE on youtube for quite a while and I noticed that most of the low light videos are laggy, like 20fps.
I have contacted HTC support and they told me that no customer has ever reported such an issue, so they are not aware of this.
I currently do not own this phone but I am looking forward to buy it.
If anyone of you can take a "laggy" video and send it to htc it would be great.
http://www.htc.com/www/contact/email/
If the issue has been fixed in a software update, which I don't seem to find any information about, please tell me.
If anyone has sent a ticket to HTC, please post a reply.
Hello,
I did send them an inciendiary email a few days ago. Still waiting on a reply from them.
How can they say no one reported it ? I'm pretty sure some people in these thread did :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259124
Anyway, all report the lag, time they fix this crap so we can use our phone the way it's supposed to. There's already enough problem with focus as it is, we don't need no stinky laggy videos.
It's just different companies prioritizing different things. The One tries to get in enough light regardless of what it has to do, and that means fluctuating frame rates in low light video. The S3, S4 and Lumia do different things in where they force 30FPS, but in return you get much less light in, making the video darker. But the phone is still plenty new, and we can all hope that HTC would give us an option for what we want, shutter speed priority mode please
v1,27 wasn't so laggy like v1,29 atm. I think they can do it better, but it's ok for me.

Lumia 920 does the same job at 30fps. The Galaxy S4 and the iPhone have an inferior sensor.

Thank you for the link to the thread that already covers this topic. We do not need two threads about this.
Surely just change the exposure?
Can't. Exposure settings are ignored in video mode. Which you would have learned if you had read the other thread. The one that the OP should have also read before starting this one.
Does the iso setting affect video quality/framerate in any way?
The camera on my one started playing up the other week, At first it only did it a little and i wasn't sure what was happening. Yesterday however it did it a few times including whilst shooting a video. It seems something might be up with the autofocus system. It doesn't do it all the time, I haven't yet been able to identify any one situation which triggers it either.
Anyway, have a look at the video, it will be clear to see what i'm talking about.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm holding out for 2.2.2 before I jump to too many conclusions.. but it doesn't look good.

Sorry to say mate but my One has never done that, not in video nor in the viewfinder. Seems you might have faulty auto focus?

That's the same problem as has been reported in several other threads, except you are in an early state. It will get worse, so that finally the auto focus will not work anymore at all.
I had the same problem. You need to replace the phone.

I could understand that autofocus can be slow in low light but here it's moving too fast and in broad day light, def a faulty sensor or rom,try to flash another rom before jumping to hardware conclusion

Sorry to say so, but it definitely looks exactly as the other reported issues (and the one I had). It's a hardware defect. The op can probably wait for some time till it gets worse (which it will) to decide whether to have it replaced or not.
Btw it is temperature dependent in the beginning. You will have less problems when the phone is cold and more when it is warm. Later, when it has gotten worse, temperature won't make a difference anymore.
That was the fastest auto focusin i ever saw lol , anyway could be your sensor is faulty , just swap it with another one
did the phone suffer from some falls before?

Nope, the phone hasn't dropped once.
That reminded me of the show Fringe and I expected, at any second, that boat would POOF and disappear.

LOL
This whole Ultrapixel lens was a mistake, low light photos are actually taken with ISO 800 and slow exposure about 1/10sec,if we put these settings in S4 it would have the same results

what's your problem my friend
i don't agree it's a mistake, actually the best thing on my One
never had guaranteed good looking usable pictures in all situations before
as for the problem in the OP, most likely a fault OIS module
oh and the world doesn't agree with you either, mostly the ultrapixel was very well regarded
you forgot about the very narrow filed of view and much slower shutter on the s4 (regardless of exposure time, i am talking about processing), you will understand when you use it, right now it feels so great in your head only
oh and you can speed up your low light shutter using ZOE mode if you like at the expense of light ofcourse

I agree. The camera is great (despite this problem i'm having).
I guess i'll have to look at getting it repaired/exchanged. Should I go to HTC in Sweden (where I live) or to the shop (handtec, in the UK). I do worry that as the problem is intermittent, that it will work perfectly when they test it and return it as it is. I'm also concerned about getting a replacement device without the nice HD microphone.
Has anyone found a way to stop the HTC ONE from Auto Focusing when taking video? I think the initial focus is more than good enough but it keeps auto focusing.

After a quick search, my initial answer is "no." I have noticed this problem as well. I know that the new Butterfly has this issue fixed, however it does not have optical image stabilization like the One. Always a trade-off with the build of HTC cameras. It may be hardware in that case, but I'll bump in hopes of a better modder having a camera.apk solution.
From what i understand, is this what you are looking for?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I'm looking at this phone but I'm wondering just how the camera is. Perferably with the Google camera apk. Anyone have some samples with stock or gcam?
Let's just say the camera is not the strongest feature of the phone. I come from a p7 expecting to have the same quality but actually it's worst. Hopefully it's only a software problem
Im facing dust inside my rgb sensor camera and found that many have complained in lenovo forum that they are also facing same issue. Is anyone else facing the same please check both lenses by applying flash light at an angle in a dark room. If you are not having this issue then are you using any case for your phone or any type of cover.

Camera is not that much good. It's average. Using custom roms makes the camera even more pathetic. That's the reason why why I'm still on stock rom. Hope its only software issue.
