I have a LG Thrill 4G running stock FROYO/v10e 2.2.2 that will not connect to wifi. I cant even set up my google account on the phone. When I try it doesnt search for a wifi network, I have to enter it manually, and then get an error saying cannot establish a connection with the server. In the wifi settings it is stuck on turning wifi on. I cannot get into wps push button request or add a wifi network. I have looked through all applications and cant even find one that has anything to do with the wifi. Is it possible that the wifi file has been deleted from FROYO?? Can it be reinstalled, or can I reset the FROYO somehow? I am currently trying to do the urgrade to GIngerbread and then ICS, but of course I am having issues with it. If I get it to go through will it fix the wifi issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't been been able to successfully install the update as of yet. It keeps erroring out on me on the second step, before it actually even gets to the update. I have uninstalled and re-installed the lg mobile tool, and the drivers multiple times, and keep getting the same result. I got frustrated and haven't tried again in two weeks. Any tips on getting the update to work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
use a diff usb cable, change to a diff desktop using usb ports on the back of the tower.
I had similar issue before, only to discover that I had a flaky cable.

Nevermind, searched on here for the info and set it up using that....works now without wifi!
Thanks a bunch rjblack11
i have the same problem how did you fix it ?
OTA?
was that an OTA update? or a manual ?
I am having a wifi connection issue with CM7 nightly build 14&15. When i try to connect to my wifi it allows me to type in my passcode then proceeds to attempt the connection. It appears to be caught in a loop or something. Under wifi connection it shows scanning, connecting, then disconnected then it repeats. Wifi works fine under stock unrooted, rooted and nookie froyo SD. Does anyone else have this issue? I cannot post to android development yet. Thanks in advance.
I have a clean flashed 15 right now, and wifi is working stellar. Did you by chance not format cache/data, and still have a bunch of saved hotspots in wireless? I know a fix earlier was to "forget" all the saved wifi hotspots, and resave them.
Same problem I have been experiencing among others. It seems like if your router is using WPA you will have problems connecting. Switching to a different security encryption or wiping all remembered access points seem to be the only solution that I know of.
Yes, I formated system, data and cache when installing. CM7 works great on my Evo 4g, strange. I tried forgetting the hotspot and received the same error. Will try an unencrypted hotspot and will report back. Don't really understand why I am having this issues and others aren't. Thanks for the replies.

I've seen like 6 other people with this problem its not just you.
I'm experiencing the same problem of Wifi flashing on and off when I try to connect to a WPA encrypted router. Will try to Forget saved networks and see if that solves the problem. I'm running phiremod's version of CM7.
Mallinj. Same issue here with phiremod. Forgetting did not work for me. Let me know what happens for you. Thanks.

Guys check out my thread. I was having the same wifi loop problem.

I had the same issue toggling airplane mode on and off fixed the issue for me however the little airplane icon stayed for a while then just disappeared after a reboot

That wifi file is named nookie froyo. This definitely works for cm7?
Usually what I have to do is some voodoo with toggling airplane on, then let wifi loop for about five minutes before it finally connects.
Been having this issue as well, what I have been doing when it has been switching on/off in the Wifi Settings is hitting Menu > Advanced settings and waiting a few seconds and it usually connects just fine.

Yeah it works. It takes the working wifi file from nookie froyo and pushes it to your CM7 file.
Has anyone submitted a bug report with cyanogen yet?

I am really hoping I don't start having this problem. The nookie froyo wpa_supplicant file for me was never connecting to ad-hoc, and right now I am connecting to anything.

I had this same problem yesterday morning. What I had to do was forget my network's settings, turn off wifi, then go turn off my router, turn the Nook's wifi back on, let it sit for a few seconds, turn my router back on, then try to connect. Strange as it sounds, this actually worked.
Time pilot aka, Thanks for the tip! Will try it later today.

Finally
I was able to solve my connection loop issues. I tested WPA and WEP on my D-Link Wireless N router DIR-615 with no success. Tried toggling on and off with airplane mode. Tried forgetting my router, turning things on and off at different sequences and intervals.
Then I set my router to B&G only. Basically turning wireless N off and it worked like a charm. I am able to connect using any encryption method. So from my experimenting it was the wireless N protocol that was the issue.
For people out there with issues and want to keep their wireless router encrypted try turning wireless N off. Worked for me.
Thanks everyone for their input.
So I have somewhat of a strange issue with my wi-fi on my captivate. At home, my WiFi works great, no issuses. But when I go to my college, I can scan and connect to the WiFi spots but it still acts like I'm not connected. No data apps work at all, everything 'Fails to connect'
Using Wifi Analyzer, I see that its a strong connection. Even tried connecting to different channels, walking around trying different hot spots.. still no difference.
Why would my phone do that? Is there different kinds of WiFi networks phones cant connect to? But like i said, it see's and connects to the hot-spots there, just acts likes theres no data..

I had this issue last night when I was at a Hilton. IT saw the connection and connected but no data transfer. Found that when I connected to my laptop it redirected me to a page to enter the pswrd. So when I connected my phone again I loaded up the page from the laptop and entered the code. then it worked. Not sure if it helps
When you connect to the open wifi network simply open your browser and you should find instructions for that establishments network.

I started having a similar issue. I connect and get no data connection anytime I'm on wifi. It's happening on stock 2.1 and all 2.2 roms. After about two weeks of this, I called and am getting a warranty repair. I've had this phone since early august and never had any wifi problems.

When you connect to the connection that is not giving data, open your browser. Some places instead of useing a pin code use a webpage where you input the code.

I have a little problem using wifi with my milestone. I can connect to my home wifi network and for a few minutes it works OK, but after that, the network becomes unresponsive. Every site I try to open, the browser keeps loading but it doesn't finishes loading. At my work wifi, it works a little better but I get the same problem sometimes. I rooted my milestone and am using the CM7 ROM. My router is the TP-LINK WR-541G. does anyone have the same problem? Anyone managed to work it out?

Anyone having the same issue?
Think it would be the WPA/WEP encryption compatibility within phone and the Router.
Before using CM7, you should flash your MS with Official MOTOROLA Milestone ROM Froyo as based ROM. It is the only updated driver or kernel that locked by MOTO on the device. CM7 is on top of it to drive on the device. Of course you should update CM7.
The remain part should be your router firmware. Some router is not in fully compatible to the WPA/WPE encrytion in factory built. Your should update your router firmware or change another brand router.
I have the wifi problem in my P990.
Wifi is connected. But there is showing no connection when I use Play Store. However, I can use my browser to surf on the internet.
Moreover, if I play Rage of Bahamut, it shows no network too. But I can play Tiny Farm and it is connected.
Seems there is a problem that some apps cannot recognize the network.
Every time, I have to factory reset my phone in order to fix it. However, when I switch off the phone. The problem comes again.
Anyone know how to fix it?
Sounds like a router issue, check ports or just DMZ your phone IP

It's not the router problem. I tried to connect to different wifi. All connected but showing no network in play store and certain apps.
After factory reset, every thing returns normal.
Just a question for clarification.
Is your phone rooted?
If yes, use GetRil to check baseband and RIL for compliance.
Also, if yes, and your phone is not recognised in PlayStore, you could have some error in your baseband and you need to flash new bb via Paul Obriens Smartflash.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
If you still have warranty, it sounds like a job for your vendor.
If your phone is not rooted, Smartflash will still be able to flash new bb.
