[Q] HDMI Out in camera app

Can the camera do HDMI out in the camera app? I bought this camera with the intention of using it mostly to catalog a stamp collection. What I want to do is attach it to my tripod facing down, then use HDMI to my monitor along with a bluetooth mouse. That way I can capture it and do quick editing (mostly cropping and rotating) all on a larger screen.

HDMI output not full screen

I just got the B&N HDMI out adapter for Nook HD+
I'm seeing the output on my panasonic plasma as just a little wider than 4x3.
It's also cropping off the top and bottom a bit.
My phone has HDMI out and it has settings to adjust the output to fit my plasma.
Does the Nook HD+ not do full screen or am I missing something?
I see no customization controls for the HDMI out.
Also if I play a movie, it too does not fit the screen fully on the tv.
Running verygreen CM 10.1 6/30 build on internal (not sdcard)
I can't do anything to change main screen for running apps, but for videos with mx player if I change setting to stretch (vertical) then change my plasma to stretch horizontal (horizontal fill) it looks proper and fills the screen,
though it does cut off just a little bit on the sides.
I guess that's how everybody uses it??
The few times I have used HDMI it has fit my screen. I have been thinking of trying to switch it to VGA to use an old monitor and was wondering if I would have issues like what you described.

thanks for replying.
so when you ran it, it filled your 16x9 flat screen fully edge to edge on all sides?
What build of CM are you running?
I'm thinking it might be something in the build of CM 10.1 I'm running.
You might be ok doing that (VGA) if you run the resolution changer app.
Yes it filled my flat screen edge to edge but I used Carbon and Stock never CM. That could be the difference.

I also use the TV settings to adjust the picture to fill the screen.

[Q] Camera preview on SurfaceHolder without full screen preview on HDMI?

Hi!
I'm developing an app for my Galaxy Cam. I want to display the camera preview image on a SurfaceView which is placed somewhere on the layout - but not full screen.
This works like a charm.
But I also want to display this app on the big screen via HDMI. Unfortunately, after activating the camera with this surface holder, the HDMI output changes to full screen camera preview only.
When I activate the camera (and the buffered preview) without setting the surface holder, the HDMI content will still be the normal screen.
Is there any way to use the surface holder preview and get the normal screen via HDMI?
Thanks alot in advance!
Solved it
Well... I just figured out that I can use a TextureView instead, which will not result in a full screen camera preview via HDMI.

Selfie ?

When I taking selfie from my OP3T
It getting background alfabets and objects
in reverse but it not same in Samsung and
Huawei devices why ?
It's for all OP3T or only in my OP3T?
It depends on whither or not your camera app supports frontcam mirroring. I'm using CameraNX from the Nexus phone and there's no option for mirroring there either.
There is default setting of mirroring in front camera. Just turn it off

Wow, I've never noticed that, after owning the phone for 4 months! Thanks for pointing that out. I don't take a lot of selfies, but do from time to time. And apparently, never (on this device) with any text on my clothes or in the background. Otherwise, I probably would have noticed.
To change the setting on the stock OOS camera, tap the 3-line menu icon on the top left of the screen, then the gear icon on the top right. Then deselect "Invert photo". Which is not that intuitively named. The wording makes me think it will flip the picture upside down! Calling it "Mirroring" as you said, would have made more sense.
Seems odd to have this enabled by default (the opposite of my past HTC and Samsung devices). It makes sense to mirror while taking the photo (most folks will probably find this more intuitive for lining up the camera, posing, etc.). But not so much sense to have the mirrored photo captured/saved.
@CrayZee & @redpoint73
Thanks.

If u are in OOS stock ROM, there already the option to turn OFF the front camera effect, but in case u are in CUSTOM ROM (Where there is no Stock OOS Camera), one of the 3rd party camera that has the function of 'Front Camera Mirror ON/OFF' is the Open Camera app. U can get it at the PlayStore for free

Note 9 Samsung Notes app. Please help

Dear All,
I have been using the Snote apk i got off Sam mobile, but today I started trying Samsung notes. What I can't figure out is, when you use the Create note shortcut (when one comes out) you can expand the new note and write from the very edge of the screen. But when you save it and edit it (or do a new note within the app,) it will not let you write on the edge of the screen. Instead this is used to scroll up and down using the pen. People moaned the Note 8 was not wide enough, and I agreed. I think the Note 9 does feel wider.....but then they limit your writing width space by giving you a slider bar! Really! Lol.
Does anyone know if you can turn the slider off? You can go up and down pages on everything else without the need for a side slider on both sides of the screen!
Many thanks.

This seems to be just what Samsung decided on margins (there's the same blank space on the left too) ... if you go in the "Brush" tab you get edge to edge again, but then it is added to the note as an inserted image with those same margins. I don't see, or have ever read of a way to turn this off or adjust margin width.
This isn't an issue for me as I don't really go the far to the edge- pen often slips off edge if I get too close to the curve. Plus, I prefer S-Note which doesn't have these margins.
Sorry, this isn't much help... maybe go back to S-Note (there is an official apk on the Galaxy App Store)?

Hi - no thats ok, thank you for replying! S-note is good, and i have used it always on the note 8, its only trouble is, the pen is way less reponsive with s-note in comparison with Samsung notes - so its a shame. Its not the end of the world.
thanks though.

I guess it's a case of personal preference. I find the Samsung notes a downgrade from the S-note and was a shame that Samsung removed the creative features of the S-note app (photo note, idea sketch, easy chart etc). The device is made complete by the software so I cant see the sense in removing useful software which was productivity enabled! I have all these features enabled however (thanks to the guys here) so perhaps you might feel differently if u had those features enabled on the S-note. I know there is a Note 8 thread somewhere and this was discussed and resolved.
