In what could be a mighty Hoax or a controlled leak a new Nexus 7 has been "confirmed" by an Asus employee as having a better screen, rear camera and android 4.3
http://www.theupload.geek.nz/2013/07/tech-new-nexus-7-confirmed-by-tech.html
I call fake. How could the customer know the model number when it has not even been announced yet? Fake or its being leaked. But I'm edging towards fake.

Nothing on that actually confirms that it is the Nexus 7 II. Again, I am edging towards the conversation as being fake. The device that belongs to that model number is confirmed through the FCC, but is not confirmed through Asus officially.

I doubt it's fake. Asus already has a 7" tablet called Memopad HD7, doubt they'd make another one already plus the software name is unknown but indicates its running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Seems to good to be true. If this turns out to be true, I'll be damned cause I've just bought Nexus 7 3G a month ago
Who cares

If you look through the FCC and Bluetooth Standard Records, you'd see Asus having a 7" tablet running 4.3 under the name "Nexus" being released soon. The specs are pretty spot on to what was posted here to what the FCC specs say.
So you have a new Asus 7" tablet with an S4 Pro under the name Nexus passing through FCC under the k009 Model Number, then someone at Asus posting the same details when asked.
This news is a few weeks old btw.
Like I said when I posted the screenshots "take it with a grain of salt" I really don't know why these tech websites are making it a big deal. It was just a conversation I had with Asus and I found it interesting so I posted it.
The representative could be right about everything or he could be wrong we'll know when the device is actually released.
I've just also had a chat with Asus and they said this:
Orville R.Hello xxxxx. How may I help you?
xx Hi I’m interested in buying the Asus k009? Do you know when it would be released to the public?
Orville R.The release date has not yet been determined however, hopefully by the starting of the 4th quarter of the year it maybe available to the public for purchase.

Actually krait architecture is way faster than the a9 of the tegra 3 and with an extra gig of ram it'll be the exact same speed as the nexus 4, but with a 1080p 7" screen it'll slow down and the battery will be ****

ill be buying it the minute it's released. i need to replace this laggy nexus 7.
What about the yellow screen and terrible sound quality.
Oh, and the lags!.
The next gen nexus will fix all these issues, so IMO you were crazy to buy this tablet. Take it back to the shop and get a credit note. Then wait a few weeks.

According to this article, Google is working on an X phone to compete againist Apple and Samsung, that will be released next year. And, also is working on an X tablet with a significant marketing budget. Looks like I'll have to hold off on the nexus 10. I doubt they will keep that name but I wouldn't mind owning an X tablet.

I don't care what they number it. What they need to do this time around is actually test the software before they push it out to users. The bluetooth situation in 4.2.1 is awful and google should be embarrassed of it.

Hi, yesterday I went to Staples to buy the Nexus 7 32gb for $169. I asked the Staples employee if the Nexus 7 discontinued? He said yes we are getting the Nexus 8. So I don't know if there is truth to that, but he answered pretty sure. And it felt like they already have some stock for the release date. Is it possible we can get a Nexus 8 instead of 7. I asked 7 or 8 he answered Nexus 8.
I found this also

Could be a nexus 8 at october. But is possible also a nexus 7.

Yes, I bought mine almost 2 weeks early at Staples.
Just a thought but, Maybe he was confused and assumed that the new one would be called Nexus 8 because it comes after 7. I think it's safe to say with all the leaks that 7" is what is replacing it. I honestly don't think they'd do a 7" AND 8". That would be a VERY bad idea and would cause confusion and kill sales. I think it's cafe to say that Google will keep the 3 Device setup but try out a couple of others (rumors of Game console (like OUYA) and a watch have been floated).
I think Google would keep this information more private and request it not be shared with employees. Like said, it is probably the Nexus 7 Second Generation.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
You should go back to the same guy and ask if he has any idea when its coming out.
He probably didn't realize the 7 meant a 7 inch screen size and thought the 8 was the second generation like iPhone 4,4s,5...

Yeah we've had some "leaks" but still don't know a thing.
I've heard some many "involved" people say August. Retailers wouldn't be clearing stock months in advanced. iDevices don't sale until another one is announced, give or take a week.
Apple is at least more structured with their release dates. Google makes it hard. Nexus phones can be released anywhere from September to December.

This is just a made up report based on zero facts. Just like the Moto Nexus rumor. Until there is some real insider information, I wouldn't pay any attention to these rumors.
The thing about a "rumor" is anyone can say whatever they want and claim no responsibility if they are wrong. Being there are about 5 different "next" nexus rumors in this forum, most of these are just brain children of their authors.
Personally, I take everything with a spoonful of salt until Google announces the device.

Sounds familiar...
The G2 is to big
I like how much space is covered by the screen, but the overall size of the phone is to huge in my opinion. Maybe better a 5" screen?
Everything else sounds great for the same price of the N4. But 32GB would be nice.
Buttons on the side are a must. Those back Button are strange.

The Atrix was released about 2 months after the Optimus 2X. I actually had an O2X, worst phone I ever had. ****ty software support as well, took LG well over a year to release ICS, and even then, it was buggy as sh*t etc. Hardware was decent though

IMO Moto X design and size is great, but unfortunately everything else is dissapointment. I would like to see next Nexus will have similar design to Moto X, but better CPU (Snapdragon 600 or 800), and better body materials (Kevlar instead on Moto X's plastic).
Please discuss further in the existing Nexus 5 thread

Not sure how long this will last, but they are brand new. It's still a very good device with KitKat and a solid performer for games. One device per buyer only.

I bought it just a few moments ago. I figured for $141 ($11 CA tax) it couldn't be a bad purchase. I will probably put Cyanogen Mod on it and see how it works out. I basically need a tablet for reading but after holding my moms Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 I realize that form factor is to large. So hopefully this will be okay. Also, sucks the 2013 Nexus 7 is a huge upgrade in terms of screen.
You should install MultiRom for it, then you can multiboot unlimited number of roms including stock.

As sad as i am about this news, in a way i am also happy. This is plausible, there might not be a Nexus 6 but instead a Nexus device with a different name (probably with the word Nexus in it).

This just means that Google is terminating the Nexus program early since the Android Silver program is not being accelerated to replace it. I wonder what their motivation for doing so is. Also, what does this mean for the Nexus 8?

Imo..the Nexus line is more alive than ever....
A lot of new accessories...
A lot of Google+ posts. From nexus celebrating the evolution of Nexus and from Google employees showing N5 photos all around the world.
A lot of new Countries with the Play Store's "Devices" branch.
However...there will always be a replacement......A reference device (or devices) for Android....called Nexus or not.
