Help, I'm an idiot- which ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My note was re-rommed by a local shop. Now I can't access playstore here in China. Which ROM should I use? I have read ROM threads and there are so many versions, it does my head in. Any help would be appreciated. This thing has been in a draw for 9 months because of this and I'm tempted to <<<gulp>>> go to crApple. Please save me from doing so!

Why not talk to your local shop about the Play Store problem?
They might know the solution.

Local shops caused the problem and are prone to load Chinese crap/bloat/spyware.

It could be the new ROM changed your csc code,,,
Try to change csc code to your region by dialing *#272*IME* (This will WIPE ALL data!!)

Apps outside UK

Hi,
Reading this http://androidcommunity.com/android-gets-amazon-app-20090805/ .
Is it possible to see apps in the US when I am in the UK ???
Thanks

Yes, by plugging in a US sim card.
I don't have one!
Can a rooted phone point to a different Market 'source' ?
The Market app is closed-source, so you'll have to spend some time disassembling that. On top of that, the Amazon downloads are geo-located you need a US ip number to access it. Nothing that you couldn't solve with a VPN. But good luck ;-)
You can use this method to install US apps in the UK...

Were is Gingerbread ?

Now i no this may have been covered in other posts But !
I no there versions of 2.3.3 kicking around but i look after a company's 15 mobile phones and they only update via kies.
I no in the UK the roll out has been pulled, and service centres have been told not to put the firmware on, i also no that Android (Google) Told Samsung to stop the update this was weeks ago all my contacts have been told to say nothing
All the new stuff coming out eg Google talk the company i'm looking after they want but i'm not putting firmware on that is not meant for the phone.
The phone is very capable to run 2.3.4 as the phone is the same spec as the Nexus S, They have already asked if they should of got this phone.
I to have had doubts as to weather i should of got this phone, and gone for a Nexus S
Any one no what is going on with Samsung and android will XEU customers get any form of Gingerbread?????
If you "no" that the subject has been covered in lots of other threads, why the need to post this?
The info is on here time and time again. "no" one "no's" any more than you can see.
lol
And yes, I am sure obliquely threatening that Samsung will use 15 customers on a website that is not owned, operated or likely even closely watched by Samsung, will spur Samsung to drop their stalling and release Gingerbread before the version is ready.
I also think that that readers without English as their first language might have difficulty in reading the OP. lol.
lol!
I didnt want to be as blunt as that

Sorry, I tried that for this as well as for other apps and it didn't work. That's because my phone is branded.
Time for a rethink, because I want to be able to get some apps but at the same time my phone is really good as it is now.
I don't want to brick it.
thanks bro.
---SOLVED---
Unbranded, installed Cyan Update, done. I used @anaheiim 's guide to do so.
I got many updates my operator was blocking, and the awful thing is they told me (yes, you are reading well) that if I wanted an update I'd have to buy a new device.
Whatever, thanks to this beautiful community I managed to do it.
Thank you very much!

Which Note 9 do i have?

I picked up my Note 9 from Rent A Center, it said "duos" on the box. It says sm-n9600, build number ends in hu1arg6. I'm asking because the way rent a center has their phones configured, set up is kinda weird and I may want to root, etc. So I want to make sure I don't have compatibility issues. One thing I did was run a program that shows it has a sd845. Not sure how accurate that program was, forgot the name.

Thank you. First app let force closing but the second one basically just said codename crown, n9600, sd845. So I don't need to worry about compatibility issues as long as ROMs etc are for a 9600, even with it being dual SIM and all that? Or are they all basically dual SIM?

I can't be sure,but,I believe so.
As for compatible ROMs,I think there's currently 1-2 for the SM-N9600,check w/the developers for info on single/Dual SIM compatibility.

Thank you for all the assistance
You have the HK/Latin america snap version, your bootloader can be unlocked!
There isnt as much development for this version typically as on the exynos but at least your not stuck with a crappy device thats locked down tighter than a drum.
Yo, I have a note 9 from rent a center as well and was hoping to get a little help here.
I have the N9600 ending in JHDF
I do believe that its unlocked but rent a center did a few modifications that I can't gain access to developer options. I did find a way in by stopping the set up process and get into developer options but I couldnt turn on usb debugging which is where I am.
How can I get into that to root? Can I flash the original N9600 to see if I can remove rent a center setup? Or can I straight up flash twrp and root from there? I probably have to flash some other file but I'm unsure. Any kind of help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It's probably restricted in some way due to the terms of agreement they offer when you buy the phone from them. If it's paid off they should be able to remove it for you.

From what I understand, they do a rent-to-own. Not sure why they have 9600s? I would have assumed they would use N960U.

I kinda of figured that and was hoping someone was already able get bypassed it and still rooted. I didnt want to have to wait till I'd be able to pay it off to root it.

My guess is they probably buy those because they are more easily able to install their tracking and lock-down software on it. They probably have the bootloader unlocked, a custom rom with their software installed, and then re-lock it all.
There was a fella on the note 8 forums a while back with similar questions with a renta center device.

Yup. They use the 9600. And if you pay it off in 6 months, then the phone costs $1,871. But if you use the full 78 weeks to pay it off, then it costs $3,119. That's insane.
My concern would be the original owner would stop making their weekly RAC payments, and you get locked out of your Note 9. I believe that's what happened to the guy in the Note 8 forums.
I would assume that the prices from RAC are different depending on the region because in California right now the 6 month buy out cost us 1400 and at the long term is about 1900 which us still extremely high but some people have very bad credit or no credit at all and have to resort to something like this. The only other reason I did get us is because it has an unlocked bootloader and will be able to root it and start moding it to my preference etc. But I will have to wait till I pay it off now. I was hoping someone had already found a way around RAC type of lockdown.
Oh my god... How do they convince people to pay over three times the price for this phone?

I mean... Priorities? There are any number of other smartphone alternatives besides a three thousand dollar phone that's actually worth less than 1k. If you're that desperate to obtain the latest Note device maybe shift that determination onto sorting out one's personal finances? That's just my thoughts.

First of all, I have my priorities and my finances are well in order. I can go on about credit, interest rates and over pricing for a smartphone, you dont know what I need this smartphone and its definitely not not all for pleasure. For you to go out of your way and quote me on something like this and judge me on my finances is just plan ignorant but if you amuses you, go right ahead quote me, I wont play your game and simply ignore it from here on out. I'm just here for help and guidance on information about the phone and root.

Xiaomi MI 8 Bricked , bootloader locked

Hello guys, i'm new in the xiaomi world and i'm not very happy
Xiaomi MI8 6GB 128 GB CN
I bought this phone 2nd hand from a guy and everything were good, until i get a OTA update, i started to install the update but my battery was low and i run of juice
My update failed and goes in a bootloop
My phone has bootloader unlocked so i decided to download the MIUI official rom from here and i started flashing it with MIFLASH but i forgot to uncheck the "ERASE AND LOCK"
now i have a Bricked phone, locked because im stupid, and stupid 2 times because i flashed the GLOBAL rom instead of CHINA
What can i do now? throw it in the trash?
i have tried adb reboot edl and fastboot reboot-edl but doesn't work
pay someone with edl account to flash it remotely

Before paying anyone. Give this a try.
Search for a file called: "Miflash no auth", or "Miflash without auth", and even with these words: "patched", "mod", "cracked", etc...
Currently, if you searched for the first sentence in Youtube, you could easily find the file I mentioned (MiFlash 2018.5.28.0).
Personally, I haven't tried this solution but wouldn't hurt.
Good luck

You could download the Chinese ROM, carry it with you to any Xiaomi service center (with EDL) and then ask them to flash it for you.
Otherwise, you might want to make sorta of deal and bartering (Google Play gift card, Amazon gift card, etc...). Also, I think you only need CC to send with Paypal.
Don't forget to send Xiaomi customer support an email to tell them how you are unhappy with them and their unfriendly policies.
Good luck

But i opened up my phone and this thing not was very easy
Here in Italy i never see a xiaomi service center so i dont know...
And i already sent a mail to xiaomi service telling everything about my unhappy story with my 2nd xiaomi
1st was a disaster
2nd too...
Sorry for my bad English
And have a good day
