[Q] How to flash HTC ONE RUU on a Mac? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm planning on going the S-Off, CID chnage route to get OTA updates as my carrier (3 UK) clearly can't get its fingers out.
I've read a few guides already and I think I'm all set, the only hiccup is that I'm on a Mac (no bootcamp, vm ware or other...).
I can do the S-off with Revone and chnage the CID but I don't l know how to flash the RUU from my Mac.
Does anyone know how to flash RUU from a Mac?
Thanks for you help.

try this http://winebottler.kronenberg.org it always worked for little programs, never use for heavy ones.
personally i won't never use a RUU with this software, ill prefer waste 20 minutes installing windows with bootcamp

[Q] Debranding HTC One | RevOne needs unlocked bootloader?

Hi, new to HTC here
So I plan to get a HTC One and debranding will bethe first thing I'm gonna do. I've been searching though XDA and Google.
I understand the S-off can be achieved using RevOne's method, and if my device is S-offe I can change it to other (Super)CID
I've got few things I'm not really sure though:
1. Does Revone method (and the whole debranding process) require unlocked bootloader, I wish to remain vanilla if possible
2. Do I have to use SuperCID? can I used other CID? I need CID/RUU containing my native language.
2. After changing CID do I need to flash new RUU or can I just wait for the OTA to arrive and replaced my branded FW?
Well.. at the very least, I will appreciate if anyone can point me where to start.
I have somewhat read through the RevOne and SuperCID threads.. but testimony from those with success would be invaluable.
EDIT: did more research.. so should anyone be interested:

Hi Don't know what your native language is, but if it's Dutch I just debranded my HTC One from T-Mobile and received the latest OTA in the Netherlands.
I wrote a tutorial for it on a Dutch forum.
to put it simple
I S-OFFed an unlocked via Revo method
Changed CID to HTC__001 (need to find the best CID for your country)
Ran the proper RUU
Received OTA
You can then proceed to lock the bootloader again with revo method (won't show tampering and stuff)
and even go S-ON again if you want. (I didn't)
This shall give you a vanilla HTC One without branding that shall receive OTA's directly from HTC.
@Rubman
Thanks for chiming in!
No worry, HTC CID Lists are everywhere on Google (I'd like to use the HTC SEA CID for what it's worth).
I see, I also have received confirmation RevOne can be done without unlocking bootloader.
While I generally understand the debrand process I think it'll be handy to also have your tutorial. Can I get a link?
Don't speak Dutch, but I think Gtranslate will do, hehe.
Thanks again.

Sure you can have a link, I plan to write the tutorial over here as well but very busy ATM, but it's basicly just a collection of Revone CID change and then RUU install.

Did you get the One? What did you discover about CID? Changes GSM band reception? Can this be changed for carrier jumping?
I have a Sprint One. Am no longer with Sprint and wondering what advantage it would be to change CID. I have 2 updates to get and am researching options first. Anyone have knowledge, suggestions?
Rom: Sprint stock 1.29

[Q] Before messing with US unlocked to get 4.2.2 OTA while 4.3 arrives

First of all, hello to you all!
I have a US Unlocked with CID BS__0001 (same as Developer Edition) with everything stock, not even rooted. I already know that 4.3 is coming next month if HTC fulfills its promise but I want 4.2.2 to get rid of the black bar and get the AE/AF camera improvements.
After reading tons, and I means of threads and posts, I have a general understanding on how to proceed and what to do to get 4.2.2 OTA but I want confirmation from you guys on a few topics. I will enumerate the steps and ask a question(s) on each one.
1.- I need to unlock the bootloader via HTCDev or Revone. Then S-OFF with Revone (read about Moonshine but it seems that most folks are using the former). Going S-OFF will impact battery life? I remember reading about an error reporting service or something like it that will always run after going S-OFF. Is this true? Does it impact battery/performance in any way?
2.- After S-OFF, I will need to change my CID to SuperCID, install a stock WWE RUU and change the CID to one that already got 4.2.2 update, like HTC__001. Then the OTA updates will show up. Flashing the stock RUU posted on this guide won't affect any of the radios of my phone in any way, right? I don't want to risk getting poor reception/speeds or Wi-Fi range.
3.- After having all the OTA updates installed and running 4.2.2, I want to be able to receive the 4.3 OTA when it becomes available. Should I just change back my CID to BS__0001 and the update will show up? I also need to relock the bootloader, right? Are these the only two things to do?
I've also read that S-OFF is not possible at the moment after updating to 4.2.2. I don't want/need it as long as the 4.3 OTA can be installed normally as I'm more than happy with the One stock stuff. What do you guys recommend? Do I keep S-OFF or S-OFF?
I appreciate you taking the time to read this and answer my questions. If you have any other input, comments, suggestions or advice before I start messing with my phone, I'll be more than grateful.
Thanks!

1. S-off will not produce a noticeable drop in battery and no issue with performance.
2. You also need to make sure that the rom you flash supports your MID as well. You can "trick" the android info.txt file to cover this issue before you flash. There are threads around that show you how. The firmware you flash needs to sync up with the rom you flash, or you will run into radio issues, etc. Possibly even brick.
3. If you are running the HTC_001 rom, you won't be able to receive the BS_US001 OTA. For that, you would need to flash back to BS_US001 stock, which of course, would render all the work you put into flashing 4.2.2 moot. Basically, if you convert your phone to HTC_001, you'll be using those updates, not BS_US001 updates. For a buggy incremental update before 4.3, not worth it in my opinion. For any OTA, unless your device came shipped unlocked, you need to re-lock before you can OTA.
In your situation, I would re-lock (unless it shipped unlocked), s-off and wait for the 4.3 update. Hope this helps.
I unlocked my bootloader the day I bought my One , six months ago. Got S off via revone as soon as I saw it .
I haven't needed to relock bootloader to get OTA updates.

Thanks for replying. I'm willing to do this for two things. One is to learn how to do it and gain experience as the only other experience I had flashing and rooting was with the original Kindle Fire. The second one is to get rid of the black bar and get the camera improvements, no matter how lesser they are.
About your #2 point, I think that my US unlocked MID is supported by the RUU that are available in the collection thread. If the RUU supports my MID, there won't be any issue with radios I guess.
About your #3 point. I don't mind spending a few hours doing this. After getting 4.2.2 OTA using HTC__001 (or any other CID), will I be able to revert back to BS_US001? I ask this because I would like to do it to get the intended 4.3 OTA for my exact phone model when it's available, not get stuck with HTC__001 and its updates. If I keep S-OFF then I think I will be able to revert right? Is this correct? If I can't revert to stock BS_US001 I guess I will skip my plan and wait another month to get 4.3.
Thanks again!

It's good to know that. Did you do the CID changing to get 4.2.2 OTA? If so, leaving S-OFF can allow me to revert back to BS_US001 when 4.3 arrives? Thanks!

[Q] Issue with updating firmware

Hello all. First off, great resource here :cyclops:
I am currently trying to update my HTC One (AT&T) so that I can run the 4.3 Google Play Rom (it sticks on boot screen at the moment)
After that I tried to update firmware as seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
(I am using model PN0712000 and CID CWS__001)
I have downloaded the appropriate file and followed the instructions but get stuck after step 6 "Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot"
When I type the reboot command it boots to a black screen that just says "HTC" and sticks there. And I try to load the firmware it says "cannot load firmware.zip unknown error"
For reference the device is currently running a 4.2.2 rom (ends TBalden) if that matters
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
S-OFF? Unless you have a legit GE one, you'll have to be s-off to do it.
If you are, you'll need to delete the zip you are trying to flash in fastboot, reboot comp and try a fresh download.
Also id personally say run the command
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
after you have s-off
EDIT: failed to see that you are att... You'll only be able to ruu to the Cingular ruu without s-off. I can't tell which stock firmware you linked as it brought me to some random post in that thread lol

Oh I missed that detail. S-On at the moment. Based upon my limited tenure with rooting and my understanding of the potential flops in S-OFF I will probably stay away from anything that requires that (for the time being at least).
Is there some reason that I can install the 4.2.2 Rom but this 4.3 and Bigxie 4.3 both fail? Do they require firmware change? Something else I'm missing? The installer for this ROM is pretty self explanatory. And I am wiping before hand (both in the ROM install and in TWRP).
Same result every time though (never ending HTC screen)
Thanks again
Not sure why it won't boot. There should be no extra steps with this phone such as flashing separate boot.img....
Other ROMs flash fine?
S-off does have it warnings and potentials... But the revone s-off method carries and extreemmmeelllyy small chance of being fatal to your phone. I'd usually try to talk someone out of modding if you're not comfortable with it. But revone is a couple adb commands that are pretty newb friendly

Well I'm 1 for 3 as outlined above. The bigxie_m7_GPe_odexed_tbalden 4.2.2 works fine. The two 4.3 roms do not work... including ARHD and bigxie_m7_GPe_JWR66V_odexed-signed.
Is there an easy way to just "go back to stock" and then try again? The back to stock tutorials all seem a good bit involved.
Edit: Bigxie 4.3 just worked...maybe I'll just stick with that presuming there are no big issues with it?
Are there any big reasons to update the radio? If so can I do after ROM load?
Thanks for all your help btw.
Still wondering why this particular rom won't load. Any other takers? Bigxie still running at the moment.
I bet mike1986. knows!

How can I downgrade and achieve S-off on a Mac?

Okay, i have a T-Mobile One with hboot 1.44 and 1.27.531.11. I've tried my damndest to downgrade to 1.27.531.8 using the tutorial on another forum (can't link it here, forum rules), except its a Windows .exe RUU and I'm using a Mac. How can I run these RUUs? I've installed Wine, tried a Parallels Virtual Machine, and am currently trying to in stall a wWindows 8 evaluation copy through Bootcamp. Anybody else have this headache and would care to walk me through it?

I Heard a tool for mac users named OpenRUU that allows you to extract the rom.zip and other files from the RUU and then you can manually flash them.
Dont know if this tool is useful for HTC One maybe you want to reed about it.

[SOLVED] Completely stuck at bootloader. Need AMD USB 3.0 drivers for win8.1

I just got a new laptop with 8.1 loaded on it... tried to flash a rom and it didnt go well.. bootlooping at the bootloader. computer wont recognize the phone, doesnt say fastboot usb. ive downloaded every possible driver i could find for 2 days and nothing...
basically ive narrowed it down to needing the amd usb host drivers for win 8.1 and i cant find em or a solution anywhere.
No i cant use another computer.
please please help, im totally screwed.
You can try this http://www.droid-now.com/2013/10/fix-working-fastboot-drivers-windows-8-1-x64/
Or use a pc that is not Win 8.1
The good news is if you can get your hboot updated to 1.55 your phone will be recognized in fastboot.

after totally crashing my boot partitions trying to dual boot 8.1 & linux, I atttained dual boot... ugh was rough.. came to me in the middle of the night and i just hit 3 keys and bam, dual boot... ok
YES thanks to linux i was able to push a new recovery on as well as a new ROM!! yayyyyyyy not so much.
NOW.. i have a rom running but i have no firmware, radio, nothing.. In my quest to put a firmware on i have achieved S-OFF.. (I also used rumrunner, but my hboot remains 1.44?) and flashed what looked like working radio stuff, but nope. Should i be trying all this with a Sense ROM? Im on SlimKat atm. Thats my only idea now.. i've flashed firmwares out the wazoo and nothing gives me those lovely service bars... just an empty triangle... Any Thoughts? really dont want to download a 900meg rom.
thanks!!!
U may have to ruu. Also rumrunner is for 1.55 hboot so I really don't know if it would work. Revone and moonshine are for 1.44 check bd19 faq thread or pm him if he isn't busy he will gst u on the right path!
Use OMJ's stock rooted ROM. But if you just need firmware and you have S-off, flash the firmware set from OMJ's RUU thread in fastboot . Instructions are there in the thread.
If you need help, just ask. That should get you going. Also, you can flash the firmware package that does not include hboot, recovery and boot. It's on the thread as well.

thanks for the tip...
i tried it, as per the instructions.. it went along as though is was working, but upon reboot, still an empty triangle.... baseband "unknown"
could it be something as mundane as me using an aosp rom and not a sense? looks like im facing the 1 gig RUU download... ugh
The ROM has nothing to do with the firmware. You are not getting flashed if your radio shows unknown.
Are you entering fastboot oem and then flashing the firmware set?

wait should i still lock the bootloader before trying this?
fastboot oem lock?
No. No need to lock. You should be getting a radio version if you followed the few instructions in the thread for 'flashing modified firmware.' If you are really S-off, that should work.

Which firmware are you trying to flash? Give us a link.
I would suggest flashing the Full Firmware 3.04.651.2 found HERE
It should give you a fresh flash of the firmware as well as update your hboot to 1.55 which in turn will make your device recognized in fastboot with Windows 8.1
ok now im going crazy
i downloaded the RUU from that thread above and ran it... says that usb is not connected. I verified that it is by running adb devices and it lists my phone... fastboot reboot works,,, for some reason the RUU thinks its not connected?!?!?!
im pulling my hair out
I believe you are on Windows 8.x, from previous notes. You need to upgrade hboot as BD noted above, which means flash the full firmware package from the links we gave so you get hboot upgraded. I'd use your Ubuntu install for that, but no matter, your choice if you know Windows is working.
But if that works, I seriously think you can blow off the RUU and load a ROM at that point. I would also look at checking things out with the LTE app from the play store once your radio is up, but be very careful with that app and only change the cdma/gsm/whatever selection option.
