[ROM][JB 4.2.2][SPEED][BATTERY][STABILITY] ATOM-422 - Nexus 4 Android Development

PLEASE READ:
This AOSP is not limited to source changes from CM, Vanir, CNA, EOS, Carbon, AOKP etc. you get the best of all of them.  All features included have been reworked to eliminate performance sinks and memory leaks and subtly improved as i see fit also. Finally, this rom is compiled using GLOBAL -O3 -fstrict-aliasing.  I don't just turn it off where there's violations like every other "linaro" ROM source i've seen listed.  This is the real deal.  Latest linaro toolchain snapshot and proper use of the current 4.8 GCC features so it actually means something to say it's compiled with GCC 4.8.
Disclaimer: Because I'm using building using commits from every major repo in existence it may take a while to integrate some of the major features to my standards. I may release a stock AOKP feature as a beta until I have the chance to improve it but I'm not interested in band-aid fixing things or duck taping **** together just to get more crap under the features list and change log. Also, If you have questions or interest in building or joining vanirAOSP please message me on gtalk: [email protected] and feel free to add me on google+
here is a link to the parent thread where you can view previous change logs and perhaps find an answer to a question
general features:
vanirAOSP base: all features included, always the latest
customized-for-speed launcher2
optimized memory usage
current bug fixes and improvements from all major repos
additional features not present in vanir
attention to the details
minor UI theming/cleanup
custom embedded beats 5.1 drivers
multimedia enhancements
A-GPS enhancements
inverted theme included
ad removal
custom written init.d and cron setup
improved performance settings
browser tweaks
fast torch
customizable nav bar, quicksetting tiles, yatta yatta
full Linaro optimizations (now rebasing directly from their gerrit)
optimized networking
quiet hours, LED settings
statusbar mods
better multi-tab browsing
major bloat removal
-->  PIE, APPBAR, HALO, custom UI changer, etc
full array of lockscreen tweaks
improved AOSP keyboard
email and exchange available in add-on packs
soooooo much more
Issues:
notes:
recommend trying the 0.25x transition speeds located in development options. this (& vanir-based roms) is the only ROM that has them.
screenshot is in custom apps --> apps & actions. i did this so it could be a desktop shortcut also
Instructions:
download rom & a gapps package compatible with AOSP roms
manually wipe (factory reset please)

F.A.Q:
Q: What is this bionic that you speak of?
A: I'm going to let morfic answer this.
morfic said:
bionic is the "libc" of android, there are hardware optimized memcpy/memset and a few others for cortex-a9 and/or armv7-a, but also others specifically for krait, using those instead of stock bionic versions perform the same job a lot better than the more generic versions in aosp.
That affects memory throughput significantly and anything where you move data and need memory throughput using those functions will benefit from it.
there are other (math) functions that can be optimized more for the particular hardware
hope this helps

Q: Can you pleeeeeease put in theme chooser?? Please????
A: No. No. NO!
Q: Why not?!?!
A: Because this ROM is meant to be as close as stock as possible with none to minimal tweaks. If you want theme chooser, there are many wonderful ROMs out there that has it.
Q: Then can you add _________?
A: Depends on if I think it is necessary. Ask in this thread. I'll reply with my response and see if it is possible.
Q: What kernel should I use with this ROM?
A: Hmm, that's like saying what should I put on my salad. Seriously, it's all on your "taste". You own a nexus for crying out loud! There are so many wonderful devs in this nexus community. You have no idea how lucky you are. I came from a Motorola triumph. Man there were like 5 devs.. That's it. All of them are great and their kernels are as well.
Q: OMG!! I love your ROM blah blah. Where can I donate?
A: Please don't. I do this for the community. I do it for free. I'm too young to be accepting donations anyways. I'm glad you like and enjoy my ROM. If you like it, please press thanks as it's there for a reason and vote 5 stars for this thread That's all I want on return.

Running great so far! Thank you very much for a clean stock ROM.
Not bugs or anything, but I noticed under About phone it states Android 4.2, not Android 4.2.1. Also for some reason I have two Calendar apps (AOSP & Play Market Version). For gapps, I installed gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip.
Edit: Or maybe this is JOP40C/4.2?

I'm considering adding the customizations in rasbean into here.. Like am/pm battery % navigation bar height and customization..I'm not sure though. I like it the way it is right now though. I never thought I would miss pure aosp this much. No offense to rascarlo.

Any chance of adding the h+ icons? I think that plus the cm battery would make this ROM perfect.

[ROM][AOSP][Unofficial]CarbonRom 2.0 bèta[4.3.1][pollux & pollux_windy][Oct 31]

Why choose for CarbonRom?
CarbonRom is an AOSP based rom. It also gives you a great option of customization. Reasons to go for CarbonRom are:
- AOSP based, so no bloatware or other stuff
- Great Customization options
- Nice look
- HALO
- ...
Current Version
CarbonRom 2.0 is still in early stages, it's Android 4.3, but not all features are implemented!
I won't manually search for all new features, just wait for an official 2.0 changelog when it is completed.
- Android 4.3
- HALO
- DSP Manager
- New battery icons
- stability and speed enhancements
- a million other little things as well - we basically don't even sleep anymore.
What is CarbonRom?
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, @FXP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Download Carbon
All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found here in the second post of this thread.
I'll continue building nightlies daily in the week, and sometimes also in the weekends. I'll post the download links here, but I'll also try to make some sort of easier way in the future when my rom is stable and I'll be officially part of the Team Carbon maintainers.
Support
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question here. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
Who is the Carbon maintainer for your device?
For you guys, Xperia developer is me only, Krabappel2548. I'm the only one working for Xperia devices, maybe I'll add more devices to my support list soon. Any donations are highly appreciated, I'll always use them for my development, to buy new devices

It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! I have an SGP312. The GPS is the main purpose of me owning this tablet. I based that decision off of the fact that it is supposedly one of the few android tablets that use the GLONASS satellites (Russian, I believe)(iPads have been using this for a while) to have better coverage. It looks like we are still a bit away from having daily drivers for me.
Thanks for checking anyway.

- Disabled USB F/C
- Removed CM-based Source commits
In my opinion you should include more information about the kernel
and links to download, lot of people don't know the "downloads" tab
For which versions of ROM ? JSS, JWR or CM ?
Downloads are located at the downloads section. For the benefit of tapatalk users, I'll link it up with the OP.
On the next build, I'll bring in ASKP's tuna commits in.

Like the sound of this kernel and I can't wait to see an aosp version and I was wondering if you have a feature list? Does this kernel support OC? GPU OC? what governors eat. Cheers

This looks very promising.
A feature list along with a changelog would be helpful.
Hope this project continues.
Time for the next build.
Shall bring over ASKP's features now.

Awesome. I've been using ASKP on my Toro for the longest time, beyond a doubt the best kernel available for the Gnex. Can't wait to see what this has in store for my nexus 4.
Enjoy Blanko.
Took a long time to tweak it to perfection.

Had to flash with pagapps then go to slim center to get them. Ref lashed and it works good. On art. Love the camera. Flashed the cm WiFi fix. Haven't tried it yet but it does stay active. Like all the options. Been following this ROM on the RAZR forums, tickled that y'all brought it over for us red headed stepchildren.
Cm WiFi ap fix does work. Tethering my tablet now.

Hahaa And, I should really change the OP for my Slim builds - it makes it sound like this was posted by a Slim team member..
I am not affiliated with the SlimRoms team. I just build it for some of the Moto OMAP4 devices (I have an Atrix 2). But, yea, it would not be possible without the work of the Slim team, along with Hashcode, dhacker29, stargo (with his contributions for kitkat), and many others..
Also, do you guys have Paranoid Android yet? If all is well with Slim, I will probably add targa to my PA builds too...

this is the one I used and it worked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535920
That's the one I've used for liquid, gummy, cm, and now slimkat. It has worked on all of them. I'm excited about pa coming to bionic. So far the only issue I've had with slimkat is the phone gets goofy and Black's out, but I've had similar issues with all of the, 4.4.2 ROMs.. I'm thinking its a cm base issue.
I'm lovin this rom!!! it fixed the Bionic whine which the other aosp roms don't!!!!
A couple of observations
1. once the wifi has been turned off it won't let you turn it back on (unless you toggle the device in and out of airplane mode)
2. activating data seems longer than in most roms
3. would love, love, love to have pie on this rom
also I have yet to try ART has anyone tried and noticed a difference with ART
Did anyone find a way to clear all in recents? That's an option I really like but don't see by default. Even better if you could move it to the lower left like carbon used to.

[ROM] ★ OptiKat RC2 ★ Speed | Battery Life | Stability | SaberMod 4.8 and Linaro 4.8

[ROM] ★ OptiKat RC2 ★ Speed | Battery Life | Stability | SaberMod 4.8 and Linaro 4.8
What is OptiKat?
OptiKat is my attempt at making the perfect ROM. I like the stock experience with speed, stability and battery life. OptiKat is based on RastaKat by rascarlo and is built with SaberMod 4.8 and Linaro 4.8 (possibly other toolchains/versions in the future) with many other optimizations here and there.
I personally use Semaphore Kernel and recommend either Sempahore or Franco for the optimal experience.
I highly recommend ART be used with this ROM. (Settings -> Developer Options -> Select Runtime -> Use ART)
Downloads
OptiKat is built daily, RC builds are marked as such.
Download link ----> http://android.tanmayn.com/
Installation Instructions
1. Place ROM and gapps on SD Card (or sideload)
2. Reboot to TWRP or CWM
3. Wipe data if coming from another ROM
4. Flash ROM
5. Flash gapps (optional)
6. Reboot

Linaro vs SaberMod
You may not even know what these are. Linaro and SaberMod are what we call toolchains. Toolchains are like a specific set of instructions on how to convert the code of android into bits of binary code. Why does this matter? Different toolchains provide different levels of optimization.
I personally prefer SaberMod but many people report that Linaro has better performance, I personally recommend trying both and sticking with the one you like better.

Yep, rastakat 4.4.4 with Saber 4.8, no extra features yet, but I'm planning on adding SlimePIE and HOVER soon, once I get a new server. (few days hopefully)

Yeah, the entire build is optimized with SaberMod and ART specifically has a few commits to make the system not load extra things to memory, which makes it much faster.
My request is maybe you can do 2 versions: one is stock optimized rastakat (build with sabermod) and one with added features you want to play around with. I used rastakat since I find it's simplicity it's biggest strength but I wouldn't mind using an optimized version. With additional features though.... I think I'll pass.
Mate are you rebasing to cm or that's a different project?
