my system is mounted as writable ? Why and how how ?
By the looks you are rooted which allows your system folder to be writable if you use root explorer you can read only it is you like, no harm it being writable at all. If you was yo go into system /app you will see that as read only normally by default
I use FX explore with root add on which is good enough for me

Its pretty much a necessity especially when you want to access files on your internal storage from your phone
Astro is fine andexplorer it good also
If you're rooted then recommend rootexplorer

In build.prop you can tweak a few things in gingerbread to modify certain things.
For 1080p recording go into root explorer and find build.prop under /system/ open in text edit and find ro.media.camcorder and change 720p to 1080p.
to enable hdmi mirroring find in the same file the line that says ro..hdmi.mirror.enable change false to true you have to have the apk installed and this will also interfere with entertainment center
note: reboot is required for these to take effect if anyone has anyother tweaks please reply.
Edit: sorry but you need to use root explorer!
This build.prop app can be used to tweak the setting as well. AFAIK this app will allow you to tweak the majority of the build.prop settings without using root explorer etc.

mot.proximity.delay=*
mot.proximity.distance=*
Another one to edit if you feel the need is wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=* <---This will help conserve battery with a higher value. Alien #1 is set to 90. I dont remember the default value. Increases the time between wifi signal scans. Saves battery!!!
Thanks guys this is great

You have to be rooted and have superuser. Thats the only requirement for this app that ive found.

I just removed app from superuser, uninstalled app. Re-installed app,upon launch it asked for superuser permission, allowed, tap Open*.prop file then tap /build.prop. That should gain you access, if not something isnt right.
Anyone else have this issue???

Im also having this issue (rooted with root explorer granted SU). Im not quite understanding your workaround. Did you uninstall root explorer entirely?
Also, I read somewhere that enabling 1080p doesn't increase the framerate, resulting in a quality of recording less impressive than 720p. Is that not the case here?

I reinstalled to see if it gave me the read only error that others are getting and for me after I allow superuser permission i have full access to build.prop. I personally use File expert. Its free and in the settings you can select root explorer and then choose the mount option. Let me turn off root explorer in file expert and see if i can get the RO message.\
*edit* No RO only message. Changed back to RO in file expert, un installed file expert, uninstalled build.prop editor, cleared data from superuser. reinstalled build.prop---asked for superuser-allowed-full access again. I dont have anything special on my atrix. Just running alien 1. I ran this on Froyo as well.
Edit: deleted incorrect info
Sh** ... its like this... I messed up my post, and ill edit it....

20 --> distance
175 --> delay

I think Everyone is a little confused here

This thread is mainly to reference doing these tweaks using the "Prop Editor" app as discussed in OP...
You can use Root explorer but why when the app is in the OP and that is what he keeps referring to...

Nice catch! I figured they were trying to use the app. If they are using file explorer then their issues make sense lol.

I recently downgraded my rom from cm10.1 to cm10 on my xperia t because cm10.1 made my phone get very hot and this fixed the issue, however now I cannot delete anything with root explorer and when I want to download a picture from the browser it immediately says download unsuccessful, Im not sure if the two are linked but I cant find any answers that work. I think it might be something to do with anti-piracy as there was something that stopped me from installing apks before though I could just disable that in app manager but this is quite different.
Make sure your directory isnt set to read only.
In root explorer there is a small button at the top reading either "Mount R/W" or "Mount R/O", it needs to read "Mount R/O".
If it doesnt press it to toggle between settings.
Thanks but I know this already also I was not even in system files

one easy way is with titanium backup
First you guys need to be rooted.
Then just move the apk you want from /data/app/ to /system/app/ using any root file explorers.
Set the permissions to rw-r-r- and voila, you now have your system app

Because it's in the system folder. And please, use your imagination and try yourself. We are not here to spoon-feed each and every detail. You have already been told everything you need to know to complete the task. Now please use your brain and start trying. And if you cannot figure it out you probably should not be messing with system apps and permissions anyway.

No need to be sorry. Just don't expect to people to do the work for you. Rooting a phone and messing around with system apps etc. always requires a bit of trial and error.
