To speed up your mobile chrome/ chrome beta app turn on these flags. If you run into any issues you can reset to default. I would try the changes on the chrome beta and leave the stable chrome browser alone until you get comfortable playing with the flags on the beta
1. Type chrome://flags/ in the URL address bar/ search box of the chrome browser....relaunch the apps via the relaunch option at the bottom after the changes. browser will be super fast after the changes
2. enable override software rendering
3.enable experimental canvas features
3.gpu accelerated svg filters
4.enable webgl
5.enable web audio
6. enable webrtc
7. show auto predictions
8. enable favicon sync
9. enable keystore encyrp.
10. enable spdy/4 alpha
11.enable javascript experiment
12. enable experimental webkit
13. enable offline cache
14. enable experimental websocket
Not sure if it is placebo, but it definitely feels snappier! And I think the pages are actually loading faster as well.
It does warn that any changes can compromise security, and that all apps with access to the browser will be affected/enabled by these changes. Food for thought

Why would "Favicon Sync" and "Auto Predictions" speed up Chrome?
Would some of these affect battery life positively or negatively?
it is always recommended to check if a change actually as a positive effect on things.
Good, works on opera too.
For me on slow EDGE much help enabling "Disable hyperlink auditing", freezes gone.

They're not going to be configurable on your version of chrome because you have a newer version that more than likely has these enabled by default and doesn't allow that to be changed.
Many of the options are not available on current versions of chrome, however the ones that are are still helpful. The original date of the post was mid 2013, quite a few chrome iterations ago. I'm assuming there has to be another thread dedicated to a more recent iteration of chrome, however I'm not sure where. You may also want to check out the canary and dev channels of chrome (i know they're available on desktop versions and due to wording on the Android version, it makes it appear as though their available on android as well). If these are available on Android, you'll probably have to download them directly from the canary or dev channel pages.
EDIT:
Chrome Beta is the equivalent of Chrome Canary on Android and will more than likely have far more customization option flags

Hi guys Im one of the developers of SwitchMe - an app that creates multiple user spaces. We have just released a new build which should fully support the T2s. Please have a look and let me know if everything is working as it should!
Thanks in advance, PR after the break:
.................................................................................................
SwitchMe - share your device!
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple user spaces just as you would on a desktop computer, with each profile having its own separate system settings, apps and data.
Some of the benefits of this technology:
Privacy
Securely share one device among many users, protect your accounts with passwords and log out automatically.
Kids
Create a profile for the kids, with only the apps and access you feel comfortable with.
Gaming
Overclock your profile for maximum performance in intensive games
Speed
Imagine a buttery smooth profile, with no kids games, messengers or bloatware to slow things down.
Testing
Create a sandbox profile to easily test applications and themes - no more nandroid nightmares!
Battery
Switch to a profile which only contains the essentials to save power through brute force.
Critical usage warning:
Incorrect use of this application can potentially harm your device. Before proceeding with use we strongly recommend that you perform a full nandroid backup through the device recovery.
READ THE HELP FILE CAREFULLY TO AVOID ISSUES
Without the Key, this application allows a maximum of 2 profiles and no security features.
Only the standard Android implementation of Apps2SD is currently supported. Use all others at your own risk.
Most devices should be compatible as long as they have enough free internal memory to create secondary profiles. The application will warn users if available memory is low.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.
Market link:

The free version allows the creation of two profiles and has no security features.

Looks cool. I'd try it out but I hate crippled apps that need a key to work properly.

Guys there have been reports of the app being blank sometimes. Im trying to work out if this is something to do with superuser vs supersu. If youve experienced this, please let me know and be sure to tell me which of the two youre using...
I haven't been having that problem since I disabled the "switch screen functionality" in the settings. I do use the "fast switch" option and just open the app when I want to switch profiles. I am using SuperSU v0.96

No, not just because it didn't show statistics, but I wouldn't be able to switch users unless I rebooted the device. When the problem would occur it also wouldn't bring up the switch user screen on the lock screen after waking up. If the icon notification was enabled it just opened up the statistic screen, not the user switch screen. I would get stuck in the current users profile until I rebooted and hoped the switch user screen would show after start up.
I like the functionality of the switch user screen but with it glitching like that on my device the only sure way to be able to switch profiles is to disable all that and just go into the app/statistic screen and click switch at the bottom.
I just noticed that there is a widget for this app that allows switching profiles without opening the app.

I think your problem is with supersu (if thats what youre using). If possible, change it to superuser or at least make sure that youve set supersu up to always grant and whatever.
Supersu is very green and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
I have used this app for awhile now and really love it as it allows both my girlfriend and I to separately use my nexus 7 without interfering with each others settings. However, I recently flashed a CM 10 nightly (which i really like) and the switcher no longer works, freezing during each switch attempt.
I know it says CM 10 is not supported at the current time on the app page, but are there an plans to include this support in the future? Any info is appreciated and thanks for your work.
JSwarts Browser on XDA Labs
Description from the Developer
"Hello, my name is JSwarts - I have been compiling the latest revision of the Chromium browser optimized for Snapdragon processors. Over the last couple of weeks I have made significant improvements to the build process and I have implemented several major under-the-hood improvements, which significantly sped up the browser.
As per popular demand, I've restored the ability to synchronize your Google accounts with the browser, so you're finally able to keep your bookmarks!
Along with these changes, I have also compiled the browser with a custom toolchain, and I have removed some excessive debugging, which in turn makes it easier for the browser to perform well!
Of course, I'm unable to convince you to just use a browser, so see for yourself. It's got an ad-blocker built in which doesn't just remove the ads, it removes the frames as well, so you won't be left with an annoying blank space." -- !phenom/JSwarts

Play Store Link to CAF Browser v42
Just discovered @magic_man on XDA has been at this for awhile with RBrowser. The developer has been building the v42 release and uploading it to the Play Store and last updated today.

If you're on Marshmallow, give the app access to your contacts and that should solve the sign-in issue. Unfortunately, it won't actually pull any of my history/bookmarks from my account, even though it thinks it's "signed in"
Well that was fast. I was going to ask if the developer of ChromePie to add support for this when he started working on it again and I was getting the Play Store link but it's been pulled already.

Edit: @najodleglejszy you right sorry. I misunderstood the message. I was in trouble with chrome in that moment.
I need a good browser to use with my Fire that allows me to set the homepage (5.1.1, running Nexus ROM). Lightning+ cannot open tabs from apps right now due to a problem with the coding (not exclusive to the Fire), otherwise I'd be using that or Chrome (which doesn't have homeage). Your suggestions?
Edit: To clarify, I don't need to be able to choose my homepage. I just don't want to always restore my browser session every time I open the program.

Dolphin?
I'm currently trying Dolphin out but I've heard of privacy concerns; otherwise it has everything I need. Are the privacy issues no longer relevant? The internet does not seem to have come to a consensus on this.

I have a bias toward Opera and Opera Mini (depending on need/preference). Same underlying engine as Chrome which yields consistent rendering. Opera Mini has integrated page compression and ad-blocking which is attractive to some. Both offer the option option of customizing the home screen with 'speed dials' of your choosing. Privacy is of no personal concern aside for exercising safe behaviors (independent of browser) and avoiding apps that intentionally mine/leak personal information. That said I think much of the banter surrounding Dolphin (which I have also used; nice browser with some quirks) is pure FUD.

I've never heard anything regarding privacy with dolphin. It has ads and such, but root and adaway eliminate those. If you're really concerned with privacy on android, don't use android!
The title says it all. I used to be a samsung user, their implementation of multi window didn't include many apps but it was easily forced to enable all applications. Is there any way of doing this on vanilla android?
All apps are multi-window enabled by default. Thus there is no need to "force" anything.
Are you sure?

No, since I don't use the feature myself. I'm only speculating here, but if an app doesn't work with split screen, its developer likely set it up that way or else the app runs in full-screen mode, like games. As to how you can get Android to run multi-window with every app, I can only provide an educated guess here. My best guess is you're going to have to modify the system to ignore app size restrictions.
As to which file or files, or how much work is involved, I can't tell you. Sorry that I've not been as helpful as you might have liked, but as I said I don't use the feature.
In developer options there is "Force all apps to be re-sizable". I rarely use multi window so not sure how well things go with that option turned on.

Hi all. Sharing a quick tip that made me a happy man. I have always preferred the desktop site view on the main screen. In the past I had to toggle on desktop view for each new tab but have found a method to toggle it on depending on the screen the tab is opened in automatically.
Launch chrome
Enter this url in the browser: chrome://flags
In the search box, search for “desktop”
Look for “request desktop site for tablets on android"
select "enabled for 100dpi+ screens" and restart the browser.
Chrome should indicate you need to restart the app and provides a button. If missed, make sure to restart Chrome later (use task kill or something similar) and it should now give you the respective formatted screen on the display in use.
I selected 100dpi vs a higher one, but it seems to work so I kept it in that setting. If others see otherwise please comment.
If not working, check post 2 item 2 as a newer build temporarily broke this. Hopefully fixed in newer. Please post if working on newer builds and I will update this post.
Also note: I use Resolution changer (again no root needed) to modify my resolutions somewhat by fine tuning the density to get more screen real estate. Another very nice update to get a better "desktop" browsing experience.
Change list and notes for post #1.
1. Corrected 1st post: updated URL removing HTTP.
2. Looks like the latest version broke this (96.0.4664.45 from 11/15/21). I restored the 11/4/21 version:
com.android.chrome_95.0.4638.74-463807410_minAPI21_maxAPI23(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apkand got the functionality back. Hopefully this gets fixed in the next latest build. (Don't forget to turn off auto update in google play).
3. Corrected step #4 in post 1. The look for target was truncated and not completely written out.
4. The December 15, 2021 release of Chrome still is broken so stick to the known good listed above. Even the flag to set all to desktop does not work. If anyone sees otherwise do let me know. I may file a bug on this. I filed a bug on this here.
5. With the newer chrome version breaking this I did find one other useful tidbit. Setting the "Global setting to request desktop site on Android" to enabled (in the chrome://flags page) makes a new toggle in settings -> Site settings. This is labeled "desktop site" and turning it on will enable desktop site to be the default on all pages (main and cover). Not as useful as the intial post but helpful if you want to force it on or have it as the default (can still toggle it off).
6. Chrome beta is missing the "“request desktop site for tablets on android"" so possibly gtting phased out? Hope not.
7- I filed a bug on this here: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1280779
If you are using this, please go here and up vote the issue so it will get fixed.
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1280779
the builtin samsung internet browser (which is far superior to chrome and others) has the feature, together with dark mode, one-button adblock disabler for cocky sites etc.
thanks @vratnik that's good to know. I played with it some. It does not auto adjust to mobile on front and desktop on primary. That's the key thing of interest with this on chrome. But I do find the Samsung browser to be working much better than it did years ago and worthy of some more use.
Thanks for sharing. Are there any news to make this work??
