I would check with the Sony support just to be sure.

Not sure why you bought a phone to stick in to water.
Best course of action, after you've kicked your ex-"friend" in the 'nads, is to have the back replaced. It is fairly easy and they are not particularly expensive.
I would say it's safe but you really should ask Sony.

The adhesive seal runs around the periphery of the body and is therefore compromised.
Plus it's obviously been dropped...

LOL. He's saying that YOU should check with Sony. Why would he contact them about your phone?
Anyway, this seems obvious to me. You have a water resistant phone that now has a hole in its outer casing. Do you think you should submerge it in water?

I believe he meant "he would check it with Sony IF he was in a similar situation".
Edit: clearly I was late in replying.

Where would be your money be better used if u don't buy a new phone!! Because lets be honest we all don't need to buy the cutting edge technology right now.. so if you are upgrading just for the sake of it then just think where would u use that much money instead of upgrading!?

Repairs to my 4x4, been off the road since jan and hanging to go play again... Gonna cost a bit more than buying a phone to get that happening though

I've found if you hold a paper clip to the back between the Xperia logo and the edge of the phone (left side by the X) it stays there... There seems to be a magnet or something in that location inside the phone... Doubt its for the speaker...

i cant tell if youre trolling,,, or being serious,,, but thats the speaker for in coming calls? and speakers have magnets,,, lol
holy.. ok ok well no its not the magnetic charger...(way too far away) no, its not the microphone... it might be the speaker, but if thats the case. WOW bigger magnet on the Z1 speaker than on the HTC one....? probably not.. unless they configured the speaker to fire upwards and have a tunnel port system.. maybe... its either that or the vibrate motor..

Why don't you just take a look at the teardown: http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/09/15/xperia-z1-disassembly-guide/
You can see step by step where each part is found.

I'm not sure about the material that screen is made out of. However, plastic is breakable like you're saying.

i slammed the door on it hard enough to crease the side plastic.
Stop flexing when you shut your door. hehe
Flex your muscles not your phone.
I belive the plastic part is the actual oled panel, the front is just thin flexible glass
