Allow Mock Allocation : Enable this feature to send mock GPS data if any app is trying to access GPS info for longer duration or multiple times.
[ Example : Yelp has permissions to access GPS data to triangulate on your current location to provide you with restaurants around you. But it accesses the data only once on initialization, but malicious tracking apps will keep accessing the GPS data to track your movements and location at all times in the background. ]
Select - Delete History : Deletes complete history information from your device (Few features works only on paid version).
Why 'Who is Tracking ' was created
There are communities in hacker forums and blogs whereby they push to develop and publish apps which can track your data and retrieve the extracted information (Ex. your contact information, email IDs, phone numbers, saved bank account details or any other important information).
Android, to a certain extent, can restrict such apps from being published in PlayStoreTM , but hackers bypass these by using techniques like reflection, API mirroring, etc.
Even though all the custom ROM developers take immense care in providing ultimate user data protection, still hackers copy the OS, modify the APIs to provide access to personal data and hidden / internal APIs. By this, they will be able to monitor, record and access the data created by you while sharing with various apps on your Android device.
We used a couple new features of ANDROID to stop hackers to track the information.

seems useful. it's always frightining to know what android can do with your data. how it can very easily compromise your privacy. but,apps like these should be installed by default in base os. users have right to know what's happening to their data and where it is going. Thanks fir your effort. also, a quick question? if some apps have so much power to buypass security protocols and hack ur data,then what about custom roms? aren't they capable of doing that? can a developer tweek things and add scripts that very easily transfer almost all data my phone collects? like most people here on xda, i use a lot of custom roms for my devices and this is one of the questions i always wonder.

What is the meaning of custom rom, developed by the general user etc.... There are default behavior in android which no one will change.. its a flow... so once app can work for any device with any rom.. simple logic....

If the custom rom dev thing he can do that... its your wish to choose to use or not.... but 99.9% they will not.. its all about brand name.. no one here to spoil or hack data... we are here to save users.. as much as we can...

Hi,
As Xposed apparently won't be ported soon to LP if ever, I was wondering if I update to LP (Galaxy S4 got GE LP), what options I have to protect my privacy and manage those permissions? I am too much spoiled by Xprivacy I doubt if there is anything as good as Xprivacy but need at least something that can do a minimum job to block and deny some permissions.

P.S I was also thinking of making a post to list all alternatives to different xposed module, what do you guy say ? I can keep the OP uptodate if you share your alternative Mods/Apps to xposed modules
Alternative solution I am personally using right know which serve me quite well till we have some real privacy mod/tool :
You will need 2 apps :
- AFWall+ (open source firewall) : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.ukanth.ufirewall
- App Ops : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.findsdk.apppermission
Ideally to prevent leaks, install them before installing or restoring any data after flashing your ROM
1- In AFWall+
- Enable the Firewall by pressing 3 dot menu and Enable firewall,
- Then for apps which you want to grant access Check the Icons First is for LAN Network acces, 2nd is for Wifi Internet, 3rd is your Mobile Data (some system apps like Media server, download etc.. must have internet access other wise Youtube, or downloading in browsers wont work, read the FAQ question for more info.)
- Once all app you want to grant access are checked, click on 3 dot menu and click Apply. (each time you change permission don't forget to apply).
2- App Ops : This one is very easy all Apps installed are organized by Type of permissions you go in and then uncheck the permission to to Block it, once ou are in App you will see all blockable Permissions that this app is asking not only of that category and that is handy
Please Note that App Ops don't list and block each and every permissions, but most essentials are there. Combined with AFWall you are good to go to protect your privacy till some good Mod or Xposed for LP come out.
Now instead of being fully naked without Xprivacy on LP, now we are at least in Bikini

App ops deny permission per app basis, but sometimes denying permission break the app, xprivacy instead send fake data to the app, so you can still use the app without giving your real info
Xposed and Xprivacy are just the single best privacy guards
I know but how long can we stay on KK at one point we need to update or when we buy future devices there won't be any choices. So we need to find alternatives to all those xposed modules

From what I can see, devs are more interested in custom roms/kernels rather than in security/privacy purposes.
Marcel (M66B) is almost ready for Lollipop. We 'just' need Xposed. He is also working on another project which could have the same goal (no available information).
I really hope that rovo89 have enough motivation and will be successful in developing Xposed for Lollipop.
I don't want to loose control because of Google updates. Future devices is another subject and I think there is still a long way to go before not being able to use a KK device.
i really think that a moderator should open a thread for indexing all of the 'Alternative to xposed mod *name* for LP 5.0.*'
just until we will have xposed or something else for android L...
There is "privacy guard" by cyanogenmod in cm12, I think it sends fake data too instead of just block the permission. But you have to install custom rom for this.

This does not offer the same level of protection. I would not call Privacy Guard an alternative of Xprivacy.
There is no real alternative for Xprivacy, but at least it is something
I won't stay on a old version of Android only because one developer is going like "i'm god, don't ask me questions" ... we will never see xposed for LP, get used to it and move on.
I have moved to LP as I couldn't just leave my self open to all privacy leak, I came up with a solution while waiting for Xposed or any other other Mod to come out.
I have updated the OP with my solution . here is what i am doing :

Well, the saying goes "Do Not Feed The Trolls", yet here I am, feeding one: He does not play "god". He has a valid point by saying that it is his hobby, and should stay his hobby. If he feels like it, he could leave XDA and the whole Android-platform completely, and I would be fine with this decision and others should be, too! It is and has to be his choice, and if he does not find the time, muse, etc., then it is how it is.
You clearly have no idea how coding works, how Lollipop works, how the xposed framework works, else you would shut up and be patient.
If you are so much better than him, do it yourself. Everything you need is just a few clicks and downloads away. All his work is on github, and Anrdoid itself is open source. Go understand how xposed works, go understand how Dalvik works/worked, go understand how ART works, and then write it yourself.
Unless you really are better, and can do this, just wait silently. Don't be yet another huso cancerous forum member. There are enough of them as it is. Don't be ungrateful. Especially now!

I'm running Chroma Lollipop with Xposed. I've considered privacy with app permissions but every time I try to implement it I get overwhelmed and give up. I see that Chroma comes with Privacy Guard built in, which looks farily simple, and I've also purchased XPrivacy Pro and tried that but current don't have it. I'm looking for a little feedback on what everyone else is using (or nothing if that's the case), and which route I should go.
A. Turn on Privacy Guard by default. This seems like a simple option.
B. Use XPrivacy crowd sourcing. XPrivacy seems like the more powerful option, but the crowd sourcing doesn't catch everything, and I really don't want to go though all my apps and think about every permission. That seems like a really daunting task (maybe I've overestimating). A balance between privacy and simplicity is important to me.
I'm just using built in 6.0 permissions things where it just asks for permission to do anything for the first time

THAT is the proper way ^^^
HOWEVER, just be aware that there are some significant limitations to the... limitations... that aosp permissions are able to impose. For example, you can't deny INTERNET to any application, since google has deemed that one to be universally required (for distribution of advertisements). BUT, at least it allows you to prevent access to your contact list to applications that use the internet, which means that it can't just automatically send your contact list to spammers without your consent.

I'm assuming you mean afwall+, and you've configured those apps not to be allowed to agrees the internet yet somehow they do?
I use afwall myself since the days of my old note 2 and never had issues, but look into the following solutions, maybe they'll help :
A vpn style firewall, there's one listed in the xda labs app
Enable afwall xposed add-on, reboot, go to its settings and tick the fix download manager leak option
In afwall settings, your can enable the vpn control, then restrict those apps to vpn access only, maybe it'll help.
Can't think of any other options atm, i hope this helps you.

i m using Resurrection remix ROm on moto x play with below apps,
root
xposed
afwall plus
droid wall
LightningWall (xposed mod to restrict data)
Restrict background data - enabled in settings
but all is fail as android os & other system apps using data as leak !
researched a lot & couldnt find solution !!

For the data leakages the answer in post #2 by @ticktock666 is the way to go.
But for that to work in a proper mode: check that afwall+ has all the rights from the start (the veryvery start)...
Also afwall+ gives the users a pretty fine granularity when it comes to the rules.
..or did you noticed (captured? logged?) data leaks in other moments of your device work-day?
(es.: on wifi? on data? during the switch from one to the other? a single app? a sequence of apps? our beloved playframe-g-whatever?)

i dont know may be data is leaking due to kernal issue or rom has some problem
but i m just unable to stop android OS from leaking data ~!

I don't see any screenshot.... What I use is Xprivacy Pro because it can restrict any Android permissions, and it lets you know what permissions were used, and when. It can be used to show application usage data, and parameters used by data. However pro version of Xprivacy is required for those features. I would really recommend it, but I know it's a lot to take in at first. If you don't know much about Androids, and how they work, then it's probably not for you. There are detailed instructions on how to use it properly.

Android 6 introduced a few restrictions to protect the user data. Mods like Xprivacy don't need to control them.
Camera, Microphone and Location are fine on Android 6. It is bizarre to restrict Sensors, but that is fine.
However, some features are incomplete:
* Contacts: it seems that the permission can't be read-only and I can't choose a contact subset to show.
* Storage: the app needs to load and store data, but I don't want it to see unrelated files.
Other restrictions aren't present without mod:
* Fake id data (serial, imei, android id, mac address, etc)
* Accounts: the apps need to register their own account, but I want to prevent them from seeing accounts of other apps. I don't know if the UI is safe.
* Prevent access to the Internet. I want to manually enable it if the app really needs it. Xprivacy is confusing and distinguishes Network and Internet. No app needs to know the wifi name, but a few may need Internet.
* Prevent forgotten apps from running on the background when the phone is turned on.
* Other unspecified restrictions: see running apps, see installed apps, etc.
* Xprivacy has also System and Shell, which I don't know if they are safe.
Xprivacy is outdated. Xprivacy Lua is supposed to be its successor, but it is worse because it doesn't restrict Internet claiming that it may make the app crash, but I don't mind if the app crashes.
I'm using Android 8 because Xprivacy doesn't work on newer Android versions, but the rom has a terrible bug that prevents me from using the camera and it isn't supported anymore.

XPrivacyLua works fine and you can extend the built-in restrictions with custom hooks, which is a big advantage over the old XPrivacy:
