Break out. Wifi lags like crazy. 4g/3g works fine. Help?. - LG Revolution

It doesn't seem to matter what kernel I'm using. When Trying to go to a site like google it will freeze up to 30 seconds before it starts to load But only on wifi. Anyway to fix this?. Thanks.

I think it has been that way for maybe a year, ever since the zv9 update last July. I've tried both stock zv9 and Broken Out multiple times during that time and both of them have had issues like that. I'm going to try one more time and only install a bare minimum of apps to prevent laggy behavior. Of course, it's not going to be a phone anymore, but a low power server (Servers Ultimate app).
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2

A low powered server?. Hah techy.
now that kinda makes sense because I think my kernal was originally V8 when I checked it and it didn't do that before. Can we use a V8 kernel with break out?. Also do you know anyone that has one?.
Also if you do figure out how to stop it on that front please let me know.
Is a v8 kernel anywhere?. I would suppose it would be high sought after sense it didn't have this issue.

If you flash the zv8 TOT with LGNPST, you will have a stock zv8 kernel, but also stock ROM. I feel like mtmichaelson used the original Broken Out v1 thread and changed the OP and links when he updated it to zv9. I am not sure if BO 1 is there anymore. That would also be zv8. I don't recall anyone making a flashable zv8 kernel.

Coool. So this should fix the wifi?.

Not sure. I have had lag all around, not just on WiFi.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2

Zvb has seemed to fix the data/WiFi lag. At least for me.

Via OTA? I'm not sure if my phone will be offered it now that it's no longer on one of my lines.

I will have a zip for zvb shortly. For some reason the home button broke. Gotta figure that one out. :banghead:

Continuum v5 b4 reboot

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. Every once in awhile my cappy reboots straight to the boot ani. Wondering if it isn't the kernel. Still I love this rom anyone else having the same issue?

My bad. Beta 3

It's the kernel I've seen people post about reboots
What you are experiencing is called a "hot reboot" the phone itself doesn't reboot just the os.
+1
I'm having issues all over the place - hot reboot is one of about 5 or 6 I've noticed on the last couple of days. Just flashed v5 from v2.3 and I'll be going back ASAP.
Thanks studacris. I thought maybe I did something wrong. No way im going back though. Gb on the cappy is great. Again thanks to all.

I had the same issue before. I wiped user data and rebooted. That seemed to fix the issue. I figure when in doubt...clear and reboot.

What other problems are you having? I'm running Beta 3 as well (I missed when they put up the download link for RC1, now I have to wait until they fix whatever problems there are with it.) and I'm not having any issues whatsoever. Battery life is great as well, which was my only real gripe with CM7.
I was on RC3 and now 5.1, and I haven't had any such problems. I was running another ROM (not Continuum, which I will not name) before, which suffered from terrible sleep death. About every other day, it would not wake up from sleep at all. I had to pull the battery to get it to work again. I have had NO such problems with Continuum at all.
Oops. Posted too soon. Continuum 5.1 was extremely laggy. Tap something and the screen blanks out before the app comes up. That's bad lag. Also, it completely crashed on me about 4 times in a couple of hours.
I just flashed 5.2, and it seems to be better. However, icezar1 says the problem was with TW4, but I'm using Launcher Pro. I hope these problems don't persist.
Well, 5.2 was almost as bad as 5.1. I installed the previous version of the kernel (Talon 0.1.4) and all was well. Some kind of high memory freeing something or other. Then today Cezar released 5.3 which is even better. This is a great ROM.

Rooted stock 2.3.3 extreme instability problems

About a month ago I was running cog5v2 but kept having problems with my phone not ringing and getting media, Android, and wssyncmlnps failures. I couldn't take it anymore so I went to I897UCKF1 and then rooted. That's it. Initially I didn't have any problems but after a week my phone freaked out and i'm back to where I started with the same failures.
maybe this will help but it looks like the reason my phone isn't ringing is because it can't access media inside my phone. If I try to select a ringtone the phone reboots.
Thanks so much for any help possible,
Kraig

The kf1 build was pure crap, full of random reboots and charge bugs. The new ke3 is full of redemption. The devs here finally have something decent to work with, so give them shot.

To the people that are not rooted

Can you tell me why you are not rooted. I'm just curious. I've seen a lot of people that say they are not rooted and or rooted but not running a ROM. I've done it a lot on my gnex but have not found the need to do it on this phone.

Same here. Still not rooted.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I just rooted last night, Stock kernel, Stock ROM. The only reason I rooted was so that I could calibrate my display on my phone. There is no other reason for me.
rooted but still using stock ROM
After rooted you can install so many useful apps (e.g. CWM Recovery, Titanium Backup Pro, Market Enabler, Root Explorer........)
Everything is good here, so why put development software on it.?
There's no reason to not root, or at least unlock the bootloader, when you first get the phone. It'll save you a ton of hassle down the road should you ever decide that you want or need root

Because you can? I don't have the bloody phone yet, but it's going to get rooted.
Ordered my Nexus 4 on Nov. 13th. Still waiting.
Yeah I'm unlocking the bootloader as soon as it arrives, I'll probably leave it stock for a bit but my last 3 devices I bought with the intention of leaving them stock, then decided to root later, and 3 devices I lost data on. So yeah just unlock it when you get it to leave the option open

I'm not rooted because:
1) I have no need to be. Stock does everything I want it to do.
2) Having root doesn't allow some apps to work such as Google Movies & TV.
3) I got sick of flashing ROMs, making backups, and restoring everything after a wipe.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Root is useful for some application like ads filter, anti virus like Avast with remote controls. It is only a choice to do if you really need it

You guys probably are not aware of the amazing custom Roms like paranoidandroid that gives you so much control of your phone. Also great kernels like matrix that gives you more Battery life. Stock is great but android is all about modding.

Oh nice. I'm glad they fixed that.
This is going to be my first android phone as I'm coming from blackberry and I was doing some research as to rooting my device. That's probably the direction I am going to go but I just had one question. What are the potential drawbacks of rooting your device? I read that some apps don't work such as banking apps and things along those lines. Just wanted to get all the possible information. I'm located in Canada, if that relates to any location specific apps.
Thanks
EDIT: Found some tutorials and threads, thanks
I did unlock the bootloader and I'm rooted, no ROM. I to got tired of flashing and making back ups and redoing my home screen multiple time a week if not every day. That's fun for awhile. But for me all the Roms are all the same for the exception of a few things. My phone runs great and I do get very good battery life. I can understand why some do it but I think android is at that point to where it does and have everything I want. I'm even thinking about unrooting my phone. Haven't needed any thing that requires root yet. I did have the display app for awhile for my screen but I've not used it that much and have not noticed that my screen is slightly yellow. My flickster app won't work when I'm rooted so I think I might unroot it.

I stayed unrooted for 8 days which is actually a record with any Android device. I liked stock and had no problems with it, but there were just a few features in Cyanogen that I love that aren't available in stock. And they're actually small things such as the volume toggles and the percentage number for battery. But they were worth it. So far my Cyanogen experience has been just as smooth as stock, so there really haven't been any drawbacks. I'm also using the Faux kernel which seems to have improved the wakelock problem the device was having on the stock kernel. I was able to get somewhere around 20 hours of battery life yesterday when I was getting around 12 on the stock kernel. I still haven't calibrated the display to my likings yet, but I'll get to that. Needless to say, I'm really enjoying having a Nexus 4.
I liked rooting my vivid because sense sucked, but I went with a aosp ROM and was very happy. Though, what I like more is messing with new software updates (official) and not being rooted just makes that easier to download. There's nothing I miss from rooting. Everything I did was to make the phone as smooth running as possible and that's what I got now.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Not rooted. The entire reason I rooted my old GS2 was to get AOSP on it. This has it in its purest, best form stock.
I root because I want to block ads, use titanium backup, Franco Kernel, AOKP (I have my menu and search button back plus the nav bar ring has more options than just google now). I use TWRP for backups in case I mash my phone and Google doesn't have images up yet... I can at least restore mine LOL. I use lots of tasker tasks with root. Use Datasync to auto backup and restore games and other app data on each device (not just when flashing ROMs. I mean I play a game and put down phone pickup tablet and data is already synced on there.). There's just so many things to do with it!
I will eventually, and most likely roll to CM, but until that time I just have no need for it.

MJA update: Have you made the jump? What are the differences? Do you think it's worth

Just a general post to see if those of you who got the update to work, if you really think it's worth it? Is it one step forward, two steps back? Are you happy that you updated or sorry you did? No, this post isn't necessarily a question post, just one to get people's opinions on the update in one place and not scattered between a few threads. Mods, if you feel this is redundant, that's fine. I'm just trying to generate some activity and input from the users on the update.
I did it and it seems a lot smother. But then I cf-autorooted and restored a nandroid of carbon rom. Don't know why but I seem to get better service.

I did it solely for the modem. I am back on OctOS already. Won't know if the modern is any better till tomorrow, it didn't really improve anything at my house so I'm not getting my hopes up...

When clicking on Google search to open Google now, it will randomly force close. It starts to load my cards, then shuts down. I've cleared app data and same results. Happens randomly. Anyone else?

Works fine when first opened as in your screen shot, set it up and then open it and kill the app then try and reopen it. Half time closes on me. Un installed latest and reverted to previous update and works fine.
Odd thing too, is it doesn't do this in landscape mode only portrait.

I usually try to avoid statements like this because of placebo, but TW seems a lot snappier.
Also the new 3G and 4G icons are really nice. The keyboard enhancements are really nice.

3g icons suck big time. Looks like smeone took the small one and streched it in photoshop. Regarding benchmarking i scored this on antutu which makes me wonder how cheatfull is samsung on benchmarking. Am on stock 4.3 and rooted.
Agreed. The 3G icon looks aweful!!!
There are more fonts to change the phone to. Mobile Data is missing from the drop down. Reading mode was added. GSM data roaming was opened up while all roaming was turned off. It does feel much smoother.

You can update and keep root... I odined back to mf9 and used cf auto root to gain root access back. I then went into superSU and checked survival mode(keeps root even after ota). After that I downloaded the update and put it on my sd card. Once there I went into stock recover uodated from sdcard and now I have 4.3 still rooted.

Care to provide more information? Not really enough here to go on. What ROMs you're trying and what you've run in the past might be good places to start.
Ok sorry for late reply I didn't see this. I been having issues after issues with this phone the minute I rooted it lol. Constant crashes, keyboard broke so I had to get my swift key back, voice to text doesn't work at all on any Rom which is annoying me. Data keeps turning on and off. Battery will say full but keep getting low battery notification. Bucket full of fun most of it I will tolerate. I found out SuperSU or whatever doesn't work on 4.3 and I need to manually root it again which idk if I'm using the right file

Superuser works fine on 4.3,broken kb sounds like rom issue. You flash a rom for sprint version right(or one with sprint support and no kernels (none for sprint phones yet)
