If you have an old back up (of stock) go to recovery , "Advanced Restore" and then choose "Boot" .
Or you can simply re-flash the JB *.kdz file as you did before (when you update from ICS to JB) and them re-root the phone using OS_Hacking's tool (All-In-One) .

Is there a zip stock kernel flashable via CWM for v20a?
Tnx

As stated above, use your nandroid backup and restore the kernel from there - you do have a backup, don't you?

No, sorry, i do not have a nandroid backup. Im experimenting a custom kernel. Yesterday playing riptide the phone got really hot in the upper left area of the screen and in the back. Is this normal? I need to flash the stock kernel and compare.

If you are playing games then the phone will get hot - nothing you can do about it really. You could lower the CPU and GPU speed, but then the games won't play as well.

Ok. Im Just affraid it gets hot to the point of damaging the Phone. How do i lower the clock speeds to stock? Is there any App? Sorry for the noob questions. Im new to this phone. Theres no way i can find a flashable stock kernel via cwm to 20a?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app

If the phone overheats it shuts down (86°C default) you can't damage it unless you remove these limits.
Riptide is quite heavy game so heating is normal

Tnx man.
Still no chance someone makes a 20a version CWM flashable Kernel?
This way would be much easier do experiment with kernels.
Is there some optimized kernel with Stock CPU/GPU clock?

[Q] Anyone which is using Miui.Us in here?

For those who are using Miui.Us like me, any nice kernal suggestions just for Miuis in GT-I9000? I had problem in random rebootings since the past 5 - 6 Rom builds, it might change if i change the kernal? Any helps here? Thanks in advance!
Try Galnet...ime it was good and running perfect it came with Vorbeth Kernel and i think the latest one is Glitch, maybe you will find it better than the stock MiUi..!
sew vorbeth kernel if u want stock
neo-16 beast is i am using now
also there is glitch & fugumod
Okays, i'm interested in Glitch tho. But do u know the way to apply that kernal? Needed any requirements or just apply via CWM? Or need some bootloaders or stuffs?

flash V11 because V12 says it needs Froyo bootloaders to avoid all risk just flash v11 FINAL one's!
Hey thanks! I've just flashed Glitch's today and play around w the overclocking and undervolting things? Do u know the values for some good performance + batt life for it? And what does it differenciate by Low leakage, Medium leakage and High leakage? I'm using the Medium one anyway.

[Q] Unlocking bootloader and custom kernels

If I unlock bootloader, and then flash some custom kernel, will i lose all data I have, so it would be like I've done factory reset? Or everything will be the same (just different kernel) ?
Thnak you.
Kernels are building to rom.You can make backup with titanium backup

hi..if you flash with some kernel you dont lose data in SD CARD..you keep wallpapers, ringtones, music etc..all you put in sd stays..even if you make a wipe/factory reset in recovery ,data still remain..just different kernel and new rom.
,
you lose nothing
You won't loose Your data, but there is a chance, that Your phone won't boot up and it will stuck at bootanimation. Remember, that stock ROM works only on stock kernel (if I'm wrong - correct me). Other ROMs may work on several types of kernels, but remeber to check it first
I think you didn't understand me, or I wasn't so specific... I will give you an example...
Now i have ginger dx v022, some modules and tweaks installed on it, and I changed few things to fix notification bar and wifi (eduroam)... and if I flash alfs kernel, for ginger dx, can i just restore system backup with xrecovery or cwm, or will i have to 'install' ginger dx v 022, but everything (apps, modules, tweaks etc.) will disapear?

Nothing will be changed just the kernel. And for gdx flash Alfs kernel.
Edit: you don't need full wipe when you flash a kernel.

You decide mate. But I recommend custom kernel cuz it has the latest and built-in recovery, better gaming performance and makes your device faster. +now the best roms (except gdx) are working only on custom kernels.

How to flash custom kernal

Hey guys,
Pardon my asking, but I want to flash a kernel to achieve a higher clock speed (overclock). How do I go about doing so? Install from SD via clockwork mod recovery? Or do I put it into the cminstall folder and use ACMEinstaller.
Im clearly a noob, thanks for your help.

The way I flash a kernel is through cwm, install Zip. I wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing.
You can overclock the stock kernel. You have to use something like antutu benchmark (free) or set cpu (paid), though I think if you're an XDA member you can get it free.
I have mine set at 1.7 max, 384 min.
You can OC the stock CM9 kernel to 1.78 with an OC app. I like system tuner pro because you can force both cores online.
But if you want a custom kernel, download it as a flash able .zip (which they all are) and install .zip through clockwork mod in moboot.

Make sure you download the correct kernel. If you are on Stock rom, download sense kernel. Installation process is given there.
Once that is done, install an app called 'SetCPU' or 'NoFrillsCPU'. It will help you to adjust the cpu speed.

Different devices run different clocks. If your phone cant handle it it will simply bootloop indicating you should use a lower frequency.
The only way you can damage your device when flashing kernels it is if you spill a bottle of water on it lol

overclocking isn't something you can just do. you flash a kernel with a higher clock speed, the stock kernel can't be overclocked in any way. do your homework next time mate
Oops.. My bad. I said custom recovery instead of kernel sorry..
No, flashing a kernel will not wipe any data. It can have a whole lotta benefits over your stock phone..
From the link I gave you earlier, look for sense kernel, latest version and download it. I think it's version 7..
This is the easiest way to flash a new kernel.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187482
Read that thread carefully.. It's pretty simple.
Once you have flashed the kernel(.img file) get the setcpu app or no frills Cpu app.

how to overclock the Cappy

our cappy is fast as it is on 4.2 but i have yet to overclock a phone yet and i hear its not like taking the risk of OC your computer so i would like to try it out on the cappy first. so i have googled this already and it comes up with somone already OC it to 1.2 ghz which i would be fine with but in order to OC you need to flash a kernal i think it said? i am not fimilular with kernals with all of the phones i have messed with i have yet to touch kernals, the only time i have flashed a kernal (had a interesting custom recovery) was to root my cappy to put CM on it and got CWM after. i dont see the points of them other than more customization which im not interested in, so how would i go about doing this can someone help me out please?

You do indeed need a custom kernel that allows it. Flashing them is fairly simple, you just need a Odin flashable version if you don't wanna go the custom ROM way.
Make sure that your kernel is made for the current version your phone is running and that it's for the I897! As per your signature, Corn kernel would be your best option as it is for GB.

as of last night i flashed Cyangenmod to get CWM and then flashed paranoid android 3.99, mines a I896 btw i think since i got a bootloop its on At&t/firmware. (only useing on wifi for now) i had corn kernel before to get a recovery and root but if i want to OC it would i have to get corn kernel again? it was a pretty slow boot up every time i turned it on with the stock rom.
No you don't have nor want to. Corn is for GB, if you flashed CM, you're probably on JB.
You'll just have to flash a JB kernel that allows OC (like devil).

so i was looking through some of my stuff on my cappy (cyangenmod 10.1.3 on it) and i looked at the performance option and it has the option to overclock it to 1.2 GHz, would i have to flash a special kernel? or am i fine like this?
Default CM kernel supports 1.2GHz step overclock, just set it and test for stability issues. Nothing else is needed.

first of all the t211 is a tablet not a phone . you have a dual core clocked at 1.2ghz im sure thats pretty fast i think its because you have too many apps. if you still want to overclock ask at the q&a section of its offical forums here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3 . cyanogenmod sometimes have the option to overclock their devices, i would check that out as well

OC is a kernel option so simply flash a kernel that allows it. That being said, you're not on the right sub-forum like Trozzul mentioned. Be sure to flash one for your tablet. OC has its disadvantages so make sure you read about it before going through with it.
