SGSA CWM - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plzz help I want permenent CWM download link ?

Install a kernel with CWM included, like CoCore!
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app

Yep, you need to flash custom kernel that supports cwm recovery because it is kernel related stuff. Also in the future, you might wanna try search and read first.

Download and install CoCore 6.8
Both the TWRP and CWM variants are there. I recommend using the DD method as it doesn't increase the binary counter.

Why using dd (may brick if wrong partition) instead of flashing via recovery the zip?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Yeah, easiest way is to flash temp cwm zip then flash kernel zip. If you don't have any confidence, using frapeti's kernel flasher is the safest way.

My vote is for the Universal kernel flash tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137598 as the easiest way to flash a new kernel.

Why are you trying to remove the CWM because is not safe? It is safe because of the safe kernel speedmod k3-7, there no need to removed.

I dont know man, why would you wanna remove CWM?
If you really want to remove it, you can flash an Unsafe Stock kernel.
galaxy note cwm missing
i am having a rooted note i switched between different roms now i am on ics roms currently kingdroid v 4.3. in applications cwm is missing but manually i can go to the cw mod. but unable to flash zip files even though the message is that zip file installed when i use the abyssnote kernell it works fine how can i correct this problem
Ah. Thanks peepz. I used to use the cwm touch recovery to install and flash things then the speedmod kernel added the normal cwm recovery so i was actually just a little confused.
Anyways, thanks for the info. Will leave it installed.

[ODIN][N8013]Stock Kernel and Recovery Images

This post will contain N8013 stock kernel and recovery images. For UEALGB these were dumped from a device that was rooted using the "root injection of /system" approach. For UEALH2, they are simply extracted from the Kies dump at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706 so that you can get a stock kernel or recovery without downloading 1GB of files.
If you flash any of these using Odin, they should not trigger your flash counter. Note that for some reason, flashing these in Heimdall will trigger the counter (unlike Heimdall on most other devices).
Pardon for some ignorance. What should be the steps to follow in order to root from an updated to latest OTA update stock Rom on a 32gb USA version? Do I need to flash the kernel, or just recovery should be ok?

Why don't u ask this in the root thread?
Here is what you should do:
Root Via CWM (method 2 in the root thread)
1. Download and put the superuserzip on your internal memory on your device
2. In odin uncheck auto reboot and load the cwmrecovery tar in the pda slot
3. Start odin
4. Once finished boot directly into clockwork (volume up and power til the samsung screen then let go of power while holding volume up)
5. Use the volume rockers to scroll in clockwork cause its finicky and flash the superuser zip you put on your device.
6. reboot
7. Make sure you have root and touch screen and pen works
8. Download goo manager
9. In goo manager hit menu and hit the install recovery script
10. DONE
Have any problems odin back to a stock image and if things go bad flash entropys triangle away kernel and clear your binary count
Any chance you could update the thread to account for the updated kernel for the N8013, that adds support for exFAT?

Hey guys,I just picked up a GT-N8010 -Canadian Wifi version - running LG4 firrmware, will any of these stock recoveries work for me or do I need an LG4 recovery?
Looking to root via cwm then restore stock recovery so I can receive OTA's.

For OTAs - no, these will probably not work.
Ok I downloaded the UEALGB stock recovery tar again and it contains only boot.img. Is the link bad or am I just screwy?

Thanks Entropy, as much as I want to root now I am going to wait for either a stock LG4 recovery or a root injected LG4.

I have the Canadian 8010 model, and installed the prerooted firmware that was provided. It didnt flash right the first time but the second time it did. Everything works great and Im rooted with CWM. The only thing I noticed is that it says I have the 8013 model now which is probably because of the firmware but its not a big deal.

Does anyone have a working UEALGB stock recovery?
Please, update the LGB recovery. I think that's the kernel.
Can I flash the H2 recovery in a LGB rom??
Cheers!

You can't, but you can flash the entire H2 ODIN image from here (about 1GB):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706
and not lose your data. You lose root though (which you can get again through the alternate recovery method)
Can we get a kernel and recovery from UEALI3 please.
Can someone dump latest firmware please and pm me.

Can anyone post the UEALI3 stock recovery? I want to root my Note, but want to root my Note with the CWM method, and go back to stock recovery so I can get OTA updates.
Thank you.

Got a boot loop by rom toobox

Hello i installed rom tool box pro and i saw some options to change the icons of wifi.I did a bakup too and installed the icons but unfortunately it was stored on internal memory. Then it asked reboot and when i rebooted got a boot loop.
How to fix this? Is there any way to get the backup file from my internal memory?
Thanks.
If you have access to recovery, use aroma file manager. You will have to place the aroma zip on sd or internal storage and flash via cwm. Then you will have a file manager to work with

So why don't you just do that what you asked for in the torrent thread? Download and install a Stock Rom. After that you have "clean" state and can start again.
Or download some of the Custom Roms here and follow the installation instructions. Same result but already on Custom with all the benefits.

TWRP OR CWM Recovery?

Starting from Varun kernel, ThynderZap 4.1, thanks for Varun , wich recovery is the best for our phones?
And, WHY?
PS:I have read some topics from Nexus, but we must have our thread for many newbie users.

In our case, TWRP have support for internal and external SD. Touch support. I think it backed up faster, CWM around 10 min, TWRP 6-7.

Both are. Just it comes embended in kernel. No other way to use permanent, because they are on the same partition (kernel and recovery) on our phone.

Yes, you will have stock kernel then, and all stock in its partition includin recovery.
i dont know if twrp has the same possibilities to flash zip files. i personally prefer cwm, who cares about 3 min time to create a backup and about touch support, its a recovery and not a launcher

Yes TWRP can flash zip, even use internal(varun modifications) and external storage. Both arey quite good, but I like that touch control more

May be future Devs can make CWM with Touch support, Galaxy Mini have CWM touch recovery why not us.....
i prefer to use TWRP
since tz 4.1 support TWRP, i immediately download it
So let me get this straight! If you are on stock kernel, you cant have permanent recovery. U need to change kernal for getting permanent recovery enabled. Am I right ?

Yes.
On some phones there is possibility to install custom recovery separate from kernel, but on out phone recovery and kernel are on the same partition.

So I install stock rom and run this reboot from recovery and I'm back to unrooted stock?

This won't work in stock recovery. It will uproot your system but not replace your kernel or recovery. You can run this and the complete stock firmware zips in my Rom threads to return to a unrooted system with stock firmware.
