no gps satellites, what to do? - HTC Incredible S

so, a while back i noticed that my gps is not working well.
It didn't bother me that much because i don;t use it a lot.
but today decided to install gps test to see whats wrong and I see it does not find any satellites at all!
I tried agps patch - nothing...
I tried alternating between the latest 3 radios, each time wiping cache/dalvik - nothing...
I'm on latest viper rom, redux kernel and latest radio.
the gps did work with these exact same stats a couple of months ago...
any suggestions?
anyone ever had problems with not connecting to any satellite at all?

Hey,
I doubt help will be available, as viper is unsupported, and hardly anybody is on it. Try switching to Nik Rebirth and see if the problem persists.

It's not the app that is acting up, it's
the sensor, which is rom related.

Go back to a stock ROM and kernel and see if your GPS works. If it doesn't work on stock, then it's probably time for a new phone.

didnt have time to do it this weekend.
will get to it soon and will post what happebed.
Thanks for the suggestions

tried 2 stock based roms and no luck,
now trying a ruu.
hope i dont brick my phone...

Speak to DoD or NASA. Ask them to launch new satellites! Lol....

Is your phone HTCDev unlocked? If yes, have you tried to manually flash boot.img hope it helps. I got same problem for my GPS and wifi.

I never had probs with wifi, just gps.
I s-offed long ago, don't remember with what but definitely not with htcdev (it didnt then).
this is what my phone shows when I power it up with volume down (hboot screen?):
*** BlackRose ***
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.02.0002
RADIO-3831.18.00.11_M
eMMC-boot
Jun 02 2012, 00:00:54
I used the ics ruu and still 0 satellites (the above stats are after the ruu) in places where it should easily have 8 (tested with other phones).
any suggestions on what I can try?
what can i try flashing from here? can I go back somehow to gingerbread?

[SOLVED]I can't hear a thing!

Hi. I just upgraded from CyanogenMod 3.6.8.0 to 3.6.8.1 (I had a theme put on) and it gave me an error while updating. I used the Incremental Update package.
After that, I realized that I couldn't hear the people from the other end of the line, though the could hear me. Then I tried puting it in speaker, and it worked fine. The headphones also work.
I wiped the phone and installed CyanogenMod 3.6.8.1 from scratch, and nothing. I reupdated the radio to the latest, and nothing.
Any idea of what happened, or what should I do?
The Radio is 2.22.19.26I
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried downgrading your ROM to make sure it is something to do with 3.6.8.1?

... hardware error? Are you sure that the ROM flashed correctly? Incomplete flashes can be a problem... Maybe try flashing RC29 and see if you get audio there. If you do, re-root and reflash the ROM that you actually want.

If it is (and your phone is not under warranty), the speaker is easy to replace. I have a second G1 with a bad speaker. Took me about 5 minutes to get it out (can do it in under a minute now that I have done it a few times).
The speaker is about 45 dollars on the internet (just google it).
I'm not sure how, but now it's working. I wiped and flashed the 3.6.8.0, but I had done that before, so I'm not really sure... Anyways, thanks, and I'm relieved it wasn't a hardware problem.

finally got it to work

i finally got my tilt 2 to wor but the the head phone icon is stuck up top and i can only use my head phones any ill donate if yall can help me out soon as possible'
Catch me up here. What was the main problem in the first place?
Also, you wouldn't happen to be in Lexington, NC would you?
You need to provide WAY more information if you want help. Did this issue pop up right after flashing a ROM, or did it start after you installed other apps? What ROM? Did you run Task29 before the flash?
He obviously already had a thread going on this matter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814552
And, all I can say is to flash a stock rom, then task 29, then flash a custom..... See what happens....

[Q] velocity - elegancia rom - wifi not working

hi,
lately i have been experimenting with my velocity, been trying to find some good roms, no such luck accept for a couple,
the on that is 98% working is the Elagancia rom,
the 2% not working is the wifi and sometimes bluetooth, as we all know this problem is because there is no MAC address assigned, apparently this is because the kernel version has been flashed to many times,
anyway other roms like dark raider, holics and some others have error boxes pop up on the screen nearly every second, and yep, this is very annoying,
So, can anyone help me out with this wifi problem?
Cheers,
Luke.

Use GPE Firmware to avoid bugs in Android 7 Roms

Hi guys, as a lot of people now confirmed to me that it solved their problems complete when they switched to the GPE Firmware i think it is a good thing to write all that in a little own thread so not every user has to spam for the same bugs in all Android N Rom Threads.
First of all, YOU NEED TO HAVE S-OFF to flash Firmware files!!!
Using the GPE Firmware can solve the following bugs (thats no guarantee there can still be bugs in the Rom+Kernel):
-In Call Sound problems
-Camera Problems
-Mobile data problems
-wifi problems
-battery problems
Those bugs where already existing when the first Android 6 (M) Roms came to our M7 and with Android 7 (N) its still the same. But, those bugs are mostly present while using a Custom Rom on a Sense Firmware and they are nearly complete gone when you use the GPE Firmware.
Thanks to the Slim Jim Guy we have everything we need already here in the Forum. And please be that nice just give him a thanks for his thread as it helps us all a lot. Here is his Post and here is the direct download of his complete prepared Firmware without recovery and boot img GPE Firmware Download. It will delete nothing from your device, just changes the Firmware.
This Firmware is complete different to the one from HTC and is newer because Google provided much longer official updates for the m7 GPE than HTC did for the usual version.
Changed OP for complete Firmware file from Slim Jim Guy (thanks to maciclazar for this information)
just a little bump as a reminder haha
So if I understood right, it's better to have gpe firmware if I have a nougat ROM even if my phone is not GPE?

Like written in OP "First of all, YOU NEED TO HAVE S-OFF to flash Firmware files!!!"
@saturday_night I was using that firmware from Santod040's thread for months until I realised it was not full firmware.
The full GPE firmware is located in this post by Slim Jim Guy. It is full firmware containing hboot, radio and everything else and will turn you phone in full GPE device and the best thing is it fixes random reboots on nougat and marshmallow roms.
Edit: Never mind. Found the answer I was looking for.

Exactly, link of post #1 is the black hboot 1.54 only
Would this work for Android N ROMs with the international variant? Running Xenon 7.1 ATM.
Not sure what's wrong. I've flashed GPE firmware, got a new battery, still phone does this awful thing Could be mainboard problem? How can I test motherboard?
Thanks

What ROM are you using right now, how did you get S-OFF?
Yesterday I've turned back to stock GPE 5.1, hoping that it's a ROM problem, but still my phone shuts down by itself, even at 90%. S-OFF I gained a few years ago, in 2014 I think. Rumrunner if I remember right.
@umbyka are you able to completely drain the battery to zero, then, without powering the phone back on, connect it to a charger and let it charge to 100%?

Yes, I'm able. So..I did turn back to 5.1 GPE, full stock, seems that, with this ROM, everything is normal. Didn't mention, that with all N ROMs the phone went so hot, that it was almost burning, but with 5.1 GPE it doesn't. I did this HTC said battery calibration, with both volume buttons + power button for 2 minutes also. Hopefully it's not a mainboard issue after all...

This is a hardware problem and not software related. When HTC made the first OTA Updates the device became too hot during the update process so that some camera modules got a little damage which caused this purple pictures. If it wasnt repaired under guarantee the only way for you to get this fixed is replace the camera module.

So, I haven't been around for a while now, but I'll share with you the problems I have :
Even with GPE ROM phone shuts itself down sometimes even at 70% battery, sometimes it lasts till 20%. When it shuts down itself, turning it back on seems to get a problem. Normally it should get back on with all my settings saved, I mean background, ringtones, etc., but it starts with a message : Android is optimising apps..., and when it boots up finally, everything is gone. I mean background, ringtones, passwords. So, anybody has a clue what's going on?
