plug your phone to pc and open command prompt
point the command prompt to your folder where u keep adb and fastboot file..
1) "adb reboot bootloader"
2) "fastboot oem writecid 11111111" **eight '1'**
3) "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and see your cid change to 11111111

Changing ONLY CID will not get you the OTA updates. For OTA, you need to change your CID, MID, flash a RUU for that CID, then OTA update it. After updating, you can change your CID and MID back to whatever you want.

You need to change CID, but you also need to change MID or the OTA won't install. Changing CID and MID is still not enough, because OTA will check your software version first. For example, if you change your CID to HTC__001 and MID to the correct one (I dono what is MID for HTC__001), you still can't install the OTA cos your ROM is different version than HTC__001. You need to install HTC__001 RUU, then check for OTA. Only this way you can get OTA from other regions.
UK can get Romania OTA because both their ROM version is the same, so UK can just change CID, they don't need to do so many steps

Hi, I'm s-off and CID 11111111 and I'm in Canada, I flashed this
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed and every thing worked perfectly, then I changed my CID to HTC___Y13 to get the latest OTA update, when the update finished downloading I got a message saying that my HTC is running modified software or something like that and for my safty the update will not install.
What wrong here? can't I get the update this way?
Thank you...

at the very least, its because you have a custom recovery. Thats why the OTA failed
Where can I download stock recovery? and if i got it what i did should work in theory right?
If after you've flashed ruu, didn't flash anything .You already have stock recovery!
Other words ,after RUU you at the stock recovery.
What your MID?
"RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13. 3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed" seems for 0710000 MID.
More likely, the reason of fault OTA - you are unable to meet mid OTA update.

Oh, I see thank you for the help.. My MID is PN0712000
You are trying to flash the OTA to htc__y13 cid/0710000 mid on phone with 07120000 mid - it's a bad idea.
What to do?
1) You can change mid, but I strongly DO NOT advise - this is a dangerous procedure.
2) You can flash the RUU for your mid and just wait for the OTA update will come to you - it is good

Only a nandroid backup ,but I think it is not full stock, at least a stock recovery is missing and I'm afraid something else.
Time you were already flashed by the European RUU, let will change MID to European. And you will be have completely European unbranded phone.
if you decide do it .. print here " fastboot getvar all" (without your imei) I'll check your current state.
I'm S-OFF. My device is recently unrooted, and my version is 1.28.771.10 on the THREE 3 UK network. It seems there isn't an RUU for my phone released by three. Is there any way that I can return to stock so that my phone is as new? Step by step instructions would be appreciated as i'm very new to this. My bootloader is also locked.
I am on 3 UK also.
Have done this many times .
As you have S off you can change your cid (customer or carrier id) from H3G__001 (which is 3 UK)
to so called super cid which is
11111111 (eight 1's)
When in bootloader fastboot usb mode
C:\adb> fastboot oem writecid 11111111
This will allow you to use any version RUU for your model.
Best one is WWE version which has 401 in the place where yours had 771.
I have always been unlocked when doing this. As you have got S off I will assume you can unlock bootloader.
Then download to your pc the appropriate ruu, I would suggest file (very long filename, I will just list first part of filename - will edit post to add download link)
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7
Download this to your pc
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...31.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
It's a large file 990 MB .
The following will delete all your data, photos, video, music, txt , etc (phone number should remain in SIM ) so BE SURE TO COPY FROM PHONE TO PC ANYTHING YOU WANT TO KEEP.
Then connect your HTC One to your pc with usb cable (usb 2, preferably) and simply run the program you've just downloaded .
Your phone can be either in fastboot mode or with android running, doesn't matter which .
Follow on screen instructions, ticking boxes as appropriate.
Total process takes approximately ten minutes from starting the program to finish.
When finished you will be on stock 1.28.401.6 which is original Android 4.1.1
However if you wish you can easily update Ota (over the air) through successive versions up to 4.2 by entering settings then about then software updates then check now
Hope this helps

I had to SUPER CID to flash this particular RUU.
If I change my CID back now, will this mean my RUU is redundant and then brick my phone?
And the original CID was H3G_001. Do I need to go back to this one?

no its safe to change CID, you will never get OTA with supercid from this carrier
change back your cid to H3G__001 (2 lower case H3G _ _001)
Code:

fastboot reboot-bootloader [COLOR="SeaGreen"]--> reboot and go back to fastboot usb[/COLOR]
fastboot oem readcid [COLOR="SeaGreen"]--->confirm cid is now H3G__001[/COLOR]
fastboot reboot [COLOR="SeaGreen"]--->reboot to system[/COLOR]

2- what ruu are you referring to?
3- no just changing CID back to original (H3G__001) does not mean you're going to get any OTA if the ^^ ruu is not H3G

well if you are on CID H3G_001 then this "change my RUU to a particular RUU" (there is no particular RUU) makes no sense at all, if you are S-Off:
1- you can change CID to unbranded and use an unbranded RUU
2- you can use one of the guides around here to go back to H3G stock
Hello friends, I have an S-OFF HTC One that I am finally considering converting to full GPE Edition. I was on Bigxie's 4.4 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395) I was wondering what is the safest way to do this (if there's a thread on these forums I would GREATLY appreciate being linked) and I also have a few questions.
1) I understand that ALL my data will be erased. What is the best way to backup my data?
2) I have changed my CID to superCID but I was wondering if the conversion would work for my Canadian Telus HTC One (m7_ul) It picks up HSPA
(http://mobility.telus.com/en/AB/htc_one/index.shtml) <- link with all the details about my phone
3) *This one's a big one for me* Can I convert my phone to a GPE edition whilst having a custom recovery?
The short and sweet of it is:
1. S-OFF
2. Change CID (needed) & MID (if needed)
3. Flash 4.4 GPE conversion RUU file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
You should either copy off your data locally or sync with google.
Custom recovery will be over written when you run the zip file in step 3. You can re-flash it after the process, but why would you want to?

With correct GPE CID and MID you will be good to receive ota. You will not receive OTA if you keep super cid.
reboot your phone in fastboot usb
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Check your MID is PN0712000 and your CID is GOOGL01 (probably not bcause super cid) TELUS normally have CID PN0712000 so you should be fine.
If you need to change CID:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid GOOGL01
fastboot reboot-bootloader
confirm correct cid change:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid
then run the GPE 4.4 ruu.exe (can be found here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads)

I really have no intention to. However, I have noticed that Android System is taking 70% of my battery. Is this a normal thing? If it isn't, how can I reduce this number?
My CID is htc_001 and it sucks i allways get ota updates very slow compared to the other cids, so my question is to which cid should i change in order to get the fastest ota updates?
And another question, i flashed TWRP and rooted my phone, i still can get ota updates?
Again sorry for my noobish questions and my bad english.
You will need to be fully stock to get OTA's, recovery, no missing apps, stock rom etc.
and as for CID, well at a guess I would say super cid would get the updates first, however, recently ive heard its very dependant on your operator, country and whether you brought your phone or its on contract.
Im in the UK and on CID HTC__001 too, I read today that HTC are releasing the sense 6 update to UK customers somewhere around the 11th June, so Wednesday. im all ready for it, just got to flash stock recovery.

you need the stock recovery file (recovery.img) from the same version firmware of your phone. i.e if you phone is on 4.19.401.1 and you want to update to 5.20.401.1, you need the recovery.img file from the 4.19.401.1 firmware.

yes you need s-off, and if you change your cid, it must match your sw version! some software version only have a unique compatible cid and other have many compatible cid. i.e .401 sw version can use many different cid: HTC__001, HTC__Y13, HTC__032, HTC__203 etc etc..... but .502 version can only use one cid: CWS__001
to change cid:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid YOUR_CID [COLOR="Green"]<---- in most cases, start with HTC in capital letter, 2 underscores and 3 digits, always 8 characters total.[/COLOR]
i.e:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
you can read your actual cid with this command:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid

No RUU, will not change S-OFF or anything else.

You may need to change CID to whatever RUU you want to flash, if you get CID error.
Okay, I just updated the CID to the Super CID. Now can I flash any RUU without issues?

CID and MID must match your RUU version. If CID doesn't match, you'll not be able to flash the RUU. If CID is superCID, you'll be able to flash it but you'll not get ota update on some versions so better to use the real CID for that RUU.
If MID doesn't match, you'll be able to flash the RUU but you will not be able to install ota updates (you'll get the "variant system error")
So in example:
if you want to use a WWE ruu (x.xx.401.x) use CID HTC__001 and MID PN0710000
If you want to use a GPE RUU (x.xx.1700.x) use CID GOOGL01 and MID PN0712000
If you want to use a Dev edition ruu (x.xx.1540.x) use CID BS_US001 and MID PN0712000
I tried using the Dev edition Cid and mid numbers, and relocked the boot loader and still got a 155 error code, meaning the ruu didn't match the codes.
