Yeah, this is fantastic...We will see great thing in terms of business moves from Sprint, will definitely allow them to push out more green to upgrade infrastructure.

While it's good for Sprint customers, I do regret that the profits from my monthly payment will be sent to a Japanese company.

My main concern is will they be bumping up the monthly prices? Or maybe even remove the unlimited data plan. I really hope they don't change anything.

Well Im just happy they are rolling out the 800mhz spectrum in my area when I talked to support.

Although we'll only ever be indirect beneficiaries of it, I also hope the capital helps them refarm the 800MHz spectrum from their IDEN network-- and of more interest to us, that they're able to repurpose those towers to also broadcast our particular flavor of LTE.

I am on the Verizon network. I hope that Sprint does something cool. Like roll out new LTE and new towers for a broader coverage and some how keep their current price structure and unlimited data plan. This would help to show these other two idiotic greedy companies that profits and good business can truly be done at the same time. Then maybe their pricing structures will be lowered and their data limits be raised. But, I doubt that. These are greedy idiots we are talking about here. And truthfully, I would not put it past Sprint to go in the same direction as the other two companies.

As long as I'm grandfathered into what's going to be the best network in America, I'm cool. I also have no problems paying full price for my phones since I already do that too. Next 2 years should be fun.

I don't think so. A big part of what's keeping Sprint alive now is the truly unlimited data.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

I got sprint 4G LTE faster in my town than both at&t and Verizon ever did...plus I've noticed much...much better signal quality..looks like sprint really is trying here

Ya, if I recall correctly SoftBank took a failing wireless company overseas and lowered their prices, increased their network capacity and speeds and turned them into the #2 carrier for their region. I think we can expect similar if not identical plans to now but with a far better network.

I read thread title and thought OH cool, Sprint HTCONE 4.2.2 is here. Not the case :crying:

True, we've had a global economy for centuries, although not quite to its current extent. But one only has to look at history to see the negative effects of profits going away from where they are created. For example, in the 1800's, the US north bought raw materials from the south and made items to sell. Even to this day, the wealth in this country is concentrated in the northeast. Similarly, I think many of the issues Africa and South America have are due to the wealth created from their natural resources being sent overseas or being concentrated into the hands of a few. I'm not saying that Softbank owning Sprint will cause the US to become a slum and I look forward to seeing what will happen, but it is a little sad nonetheless.

Switching from Sprint to T-mobile, can I keep this phone?

Hi all, because sprint is removing my discount (I've been a customer for over 10 years) it is cheaper to move to T-mobile, but it has already been over 14 days and I cannot return my current sprint phone.
I currently have it rooted and unlocked, but I'm wondering if it is possible for me to just somehome keep this phone, but use it on the T-mobile network instead of having to sell this, and than buying a new one and losing money.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Thank you!
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they make it illegal to take your phone to a new carrier without your current carriers permission. Granted I do not know the details. But from what I understand the networks are not compatible so I do not think you would be able to do that. One is CDMA and the other is GSM.
I'm surprised no one's answered this simple question.
To answer your question, no. No way in hell. Sell your phone and get it T Mobile Phone simple as that.

They removed your discount when you upgraded. Go back into the store, fill out the form and fax it to Sprint. You will then have your discount back. You just have to re-verify every 2 years.

No, for two reasons...
1. The phone won't do GSM inside the US.
2. Even if it could do GSM in the US, it lacks UMTS 850, UMTS 1700 and LTE 1700, hence performance on T-Mobile as a smartphone will be poor.

Headline is grossly misleading. It's not the 2M subscriber drop-off that caused the costs-- many of them were on the old iDEN network and essentially marginal anyway. It's the cost of safely shutting down and dismantling iDEN that was essentially one of many large, one-time costs Sprint is incurring as it modernizes its network.

Unlock HTC ONE?

I can't afford to pay $100 a month to Sprint so I want to know if there any options out there to unlock the phone or flash it over to another carrier. I don't know anything about this stuff and would really appreciate some answers.
Then why did you buy it? You know what's going to be much less affordable than your $100 per month? Your increased interest rates on anything you finance in the future since you jacked up your credit.

Now, there's no need to start lecturing. Sure, ideally OP wouldn't be in this situation, but things happen (job loss, medical, personal), so let's just see if we can be more helpful.
OP, generally Sprint phones are difficult to move. There are people that go to janky 3rd party carriers, but this is annoying and difficult. No matter what, you'll have to end up paying the ETF with Sprint to get out of that contract. Otherwise, you'll have a mark on your credit (which is not worth the $2-300).
You could think about going with Ting. They have a BYOD program, but none of the new phones are in the program. Perhaps in a year it will be available.
Lastly, $100/mo. seems high for Sprint service. Are you sure you looked at all the plans and your options? I, personally, am in a family plan with some family members, and it ends up being about $55/user, subsidized.

guide how to flash to htc one (M7) to cricket or other carrier
Sprint phones are easily flashed to cricket and even when your bill or contract is burnt and sprint flags your esn unusable.
Is there a video or tutorial on how to flash the phone over?

Exactly, all these new plans Sprint is coming out with end up costing us more money than the plans we already have so why would we switch to them.
This is really tempting since T Mobile has better coverage and more 4G where I live than Sprint.
I'm going to scope it out. Might be something to jump on.
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
Well I went to the website to check out how much it would be for 2 lines and it would end up costing more on T Mobile. First off you HAVE to finance a device or pay the full price up front. So 2 lines with unlimited everything comes up to $120 per month plus if I were to get 2 HTC Ones that would be an extra $50 per month. So $170 before taxes and fees. I think you have to buy the insurance also but I'm not sure. I'm going to go into a TMobile store and check it out for sure though.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I don't understand why people think these no contract plans are any better than signing a contract.
Why would you want to be on the hook for paying off a 600$ device rather than paying a 200$ early termination fee..

Exactly. Good info for those who want it. Those who don't shouldn't complain, just stay where they're at. Already sent a link to a friend who was talking about jumping ship from Verizon.

Yeah I'd rather have my text messages send and receive normally. Past T-Mobile people I've texted have told me of "texting issues" and the whole "edge" thing. No thanks, if my LTE drops, at least 3G is faster than edge. And I'm not giving up my unlimited 4G LTE & tethering. As for upgrades... If I really want the phone like my two HTC Ones then I pay full price. T-Mobile sounds good and all but i know there's a catch there some here. And Sprint made me happy thay my AT&T friends with extreme speeds sometimes ask me to lend my portable hotspot when their LTE drops to HSPA or Edge.

I went to a T-Mobile store today to inquire about it. What kills it for me is that you HAVE to purchase a device from them, and our Ones are only worth $106 in trade-in. Doesn't seem fair when I could sell it on CL for $275. The cost would work out roughly the same. $86/month. They also don't pay the ETF directly. You have to cover it, then you get a prepaid MasterCard in 4-8 weeks. So to start the plan, you're looking at potentially hundreds of dollars.
Yeah, it's contract free, but it's not really worth it in my opinion. Sprint does just fine in Metro Atlanta, and as much as I feel I'm getting boned by them, it's the smallest in the long list of dicks that are phone companies.

Yeah, what he said! I work in Pendergrass, Geogia, which is about 90 miles north of metro Atlanta, and formerly a 3G area if I was lucky. Within the last four months it has gone from spotty 3G to 2 bars of LTE. And that's literally out in the boonies. That much improvement that fast is worth hanging around, especially with the whole Mastercard bait and switch crap. Sprint is really earning my business these days. My penny and a half...

I feel you on that, I go to L.A. 3 times a month and my One still just loves 3g. I think I am gonna wait for some s4gru members to evaluate the m8 when it comes out before I buy haha.
Has anyone used the Sprint easy pay to pay off a phone? I might do that if it's not extremely expensive

I'm thinking of grabbing the new one. I really like sense 6

I have another year on contract with og one so not upgrading. Contract aside, I would hold off anyway. Only negative of og one is the camera which isn't a big deal for me at all, everything else about the phone is perfect. Hopefully HTC will be around for a M9.
