Urgent need of help - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need to return my Htc One to stock, the firmware is 1.29.401.12. I have located the only apparent version thanks to XDA but its the OTA version. When I unzip it it does not appear to have all instructions ie;start. When I downloaded the RUU to my phone more information was present. Can the RUU be flashed directly from the phone ? Hope this makes some kind of sense !
thanks

Going back to stock
What you need to know before going back to stock:
Your bootloader will never be "LOCKED" again. You can't restore it. You can only relock it.
"TAMPERED" text in bootloader will disappear only after proceeding method 2.
There are 3 main methods. All three will be described below.
Method 1 - only for users with .401 devices (for more info click here - RUU variants)
Visit this thread - [ROM] HTC One *STOCK* ROM
Download stock odexed version of most recent firmware and recovery.img
Move recovery.img to c:\mini-sdk location
Boot your device in recovery mode (power off the device and turn it on using power + vol down buttons and select "RECOVERY")
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard" and "choose zip from sdcard".
Navigate to the location of stock ROM (zip) package and confirm flashing procedure.
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device in bootloader mode.
Connect your device to the PC
Boot your device in fastboot mode (like you did during unlocking bootloader - power off the device and turn it on using power + vol down buttons and select "FASTBOOT")
Open up command prompt ( Start > Run > type cmd and hit enter ). The window that appears is called Command Prompt. <click here to see the image>
Navigate to where you unzipped "mini-sdk" package (type in Command Prompt: cd c:\mini-sdk). Note: make sure the path is not c:\mini-sdk\mini-sdk
In the Command Prompt type following command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You have now stock boot, system and recovery partitions. Time to relock your bootloader.
In the Command Prompt type following command: fastboot oem lock

mini-sdk: http://goo.gl/T6InE (credit mike1986.)
make a folder in C such as: minisdk. Then extract everything in the compressed file to C:\minisdk. You should have fastboot.exe and adb.exe in that folder (together with other api file)
now, you should move the recovery image and odexed rom to C:\minisdk and follow the steps in my previous post.
Please read whole process before starting so you can have a clear picture of what you're gonna do

I suggest you to S-OFF your device so you can remove the tamper message/lock/relock/unlock your bootloader easily. Go to One Original Android Dev forum, search for a thread "s-off with revone" (usually at first page) and follow the instruction

[Q] How to update rooted device?

Hi
I rooted my phone after the previous large update and now the one is out to finally fix the google keyboard, unfortunately I haven't a clue in how about going around updating it.
If anyone could link me somewhere explaining or tell me it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I don't have enough knowledge to tell you step by step but here's a sticky thread for noob questions

Do you have the international HTC One? Are you on 2.24.401.1? you will have to flash the stock recovery then install the missing apps that were lost during the wipe after unlocking the bootloader (such as the calculator, voice recorder etc) and then do the OTA update, I can give you a step by step guide if you answer the above questions

Okay lets start!
1) Download this file http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/HTCOne/root/HTCOneRoot.zip (you should already have this for unlocking the bootloader but just to make sure!)
2) Download the recovery https://cloudpt.pt/link/1a23ccce-547e-4b3c-a38c-4a798c462aff/Flash_recovery_2.24.401.1.rar
3) Download these files https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzXWB5B2uUs7R2hjQnN3NFFNNVk/edit
4) Extract the zip file you downloaded in step 3 (if it needs extraction) and copy all the apk's to your phone and install all of them.
5) Extract the zip file you downloaded in step 1 and you will get a folder that contains HTCDriver_4.1.0.001.exe (it should already be installed because your rooted your htc one but if its not --> install it).
6) Extract the file you downloaded in step 2, you will get a folder named fastboot, enter this folder and copy recovery.img to the previously extracted folder in step 5.
7) Turn your phone off and boot into the bootloader (power button + volume down) then select fastboot and connect your phone to your computer.
8) Open the previously extracted folder (in step 5) that contains the recovery.img and press and hold shift and while holding shift, press right click on your mouse and select "open command window here".
9) Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" without the quotes and now you should have the stock recovery.
10) Bootup your phone install the OTA update and it should install successfully and after it finishes you can flash TWRP or CWM using the same method above.
***This is assuming you have the stock odexed ROM, if you have installed a custom ROM, download the stock ROM and install it using your current recovery before proceeding with the above instructions.
And sorry because its a really long post

Hi, I've been reading, isn't it possible there is a stock ROM to just flash through TWRP or CWM?

Well there is but the rom is just a small part of an update, there is the radio, hboot, recovery etc.. if you just flash the rom your not updating the other stuff but if you do the ota you will update all of these, but since this is a minor update, I dont think these got updated so you can flash the rom for now and when the 4.3 update rolls out you can do the above method to get everything updated!

How to install OTA
If s off and super cid don't lock your boot loader again leave it unlocked
Make sure your device is unrooted and matching cid.
Make sure all missing apps that was lost when unlocking bootloader is there in /data/preload/apps.
Make sure u have stock recovery and reboot to it and if u r doing it manually all u have to do is rename ota to update.zip and go to stock recovery then hold power and double press vol up for options then go to install from ext sd card and navigate to the file and make sure u put it on the root of the ext sd card.
How to install firmware
Extract firmware file from Ota and put it to the root of the ext sd card and rename it to P068IMG.zip then reboot to boot loader when ur there use power key to select bootloader and the file will load just follow instructions and u will be updated.
Option two is that u can use a pc using fastboot type fastboot oem rebootRUU then when it's loaded type fastboot flash zip firmware.zip it will install if it says flush again repeat the fastboot flash zip firmware.zip. when ur done type fastboot reboot-bootloader to check if your firmware is updated
S-ON Details on how to flash a rom
Download the rom and copy to your phone
Download fastboot tools if you don't have them
Extract the adb folder in the fastboot zip to somewhere (E.g. C:\adb)
Open the rom zip and extract the boot.img file to the adb folder
Connect your phone to your pc
Hold shift and right-click somewhere in the adb folder, select "Open command window here"
Restart your phone to bootloader, then select fastboot.
Type "adb devices" (don't type the " " for this or the others)
It should show your phone's serial number, if not download HTC Sync Manager and install
Type "fastboot erase cache"
Type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Type "fastboot erase cache" again
Type "fastboot reboot recovery" to get to CWM or TWRP, whichever you have installed
Backup your system, data, and cache
Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format system
Install the rom.
Good lookin out for this...Will be needed once Kit Kat is released for our phone.

Hi, i have three questions, i am 901s, not supercid, s-off, unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery and rooted...if i am correct the steps are:
1. I´have already downloaded the update in the phone that prompted when i search for updates in the system.
2. I have to flash first the recovery from 901s...that says 4.4.2 or do i need other recovery for 4.3?
3. I should go to the recovery and it just updated?
4. flash twrp recovery and root again.
version 2:
1. Flash stock recovery.
2. Put the update in the external sd card and rename update
3. Update trough recoveryvand select the file in the sd?
4. flash twrp recovery and root again.
with the firmware version, i don´t understand the difference between instal only the firmware instead of the ota. what are the differences? and last. how can i do this with twrp and flash a zip?
Thanks in advance :good:

Query
Hi, I am still on Stock ROM but I have made following changes
current state
- Rooted (So shows Tampered)
- Flashed TWRP
- Removed some APK files from the build after rooting because I wanted to remove apps.
- Downloaded the new OTA update from the link.
Clarity on:
a) Can I use TWRP manager app to install the OTA update?
OR
b) Do I simply flash stock recovery to install update?
OR
c) Clean STOCK ROM Flash. Clean Stock Recovery Flash. Then flash OTA new Android 4.4.2 KK update?
Also, wanted to check if I can go ahead with - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50923456&postcount=12 directly using TWRP Recovery? :S
Never mind - figured that I need to be on complete stock to apply the OTA successfully. -_-

Thanks man. Appreciate it. I was just a little impatient. Flashed Zarboz's .zip and the phone is working. Cheers! :good:
Need some help guys. I think I screwed up the process .. now my phone will not start.
When I power on my phone, the HTC logo will appear. After that it will slowly dim and stretch to the entire screen. Then the phone will restart again with the HTC logo appearing and the same process repeats.
I tried to load the bootloader and now there are 2 lines.
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
:cyclops::cyclops:
Tried factory reset but the same process as above repeats itself. No way I can reset the phone.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Before that, I would like to share some info on my current situation.
On my phone, when I go into bootloader I can see the following:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
DLXP_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4A.21.3263.14
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-2.18.707.2
eMMC-boot 2048MB

I have downloaded this ROM -> OTA_DLXPLUS_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_hTC_Asia_HK_3.06.708.3-2.21.708.1_release_3558176bskc6u7eupsku7d on my SD card.
Since my phone is S-ON, I'm following the instructions on how to flash a rom.
At this step: Open the rom zip and extract the boot.img file to the adb folder, I am stuck. I opened the rom zip and I can't find any boot.img.
Did I missed something?
---------- Post added at 09:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:33 AM ----------
Also .. at this step I'm stuck.
Type "adb devices" (don't type the " " for this or the others)
It should show your phone's serial number, if not download HTC Sync Manager and install
When I typed adb devices, it shows "List of devices attached" but it's empty (nothing), even though my phone is on FASTBOOT USB and I have installed HTC Sync Manager.

I downloaded this file -> dlxpul_signed_stock_1.11.708.1_CL215607_release-keys and put the entire zip file into the ext SD card of my phone.
Went to recovery, and chose Apply from SD card. Then the following message appeared.
Device_CW_Install: No CW files. Skip cw installation.
Write host_mode: 0 done
Check cid failed!
-- Invalid operation. --
Write host_mode: 0 done
And the phone will reboot, HTC logo appears and dims stretching vertically from top to bottom and reboots again.
Perhaps my boot.img was corrupted. Where should I copy the boot.img from to replace it?
Damn u have to flash a custom Rom and try to get s off and super cid

No, Android 6.0.2 doesn't exist yet, probably next year
If you are speaking about 5.0.2 then its the same process as before. Flash a custom recovery then flash the latest supersu zip from recovery

Help needed for soft bricked HTC One M7

Hey guys this is my first attempt at rooting and now I have a soft bricked phone. The phone just boots into the Android logo and nothing else. I accidently erased all my data using the custom recovery program called TWRP. I went to Wipe and pressed format data. Can you guys please help me fix it? Thanks
What ROM are you trying to use?

You will have to push the zip with TWRP recovery and the command line. Are you S-Off?
Also thread titles like this is an easy way to get it ignored or even deleted before anyone can look at it.
I take it he's s-on he's just attempted to root
Try fastbooting the boot.img in terminal on your PC..

Unlike some other HTC devices, the M7 does not requires to flash the boot.img separately after flashing a rom. Boot partition is not secured and is flashed automatically when flashing a rom from custom recovery. OP has formatted data partition which mean he have no OS (no rom) installed. So flashing the kernel (boot.img) will not solve his problem.

1) Your twrp version is outdated. Download twrp 2.8.6.0 for M7 and flash it:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
2) Boot your device in twrp main menu, with the 2.8.6.0 version you'll be able to see your phone storage on your computer like if it was a usb drive. Drag and drop your rom.zip to your phone internal storage (My computer --> One --> Internal storage --> your_rom.zip here)
Then in twrp select "install" browse you phone storage and select "your_rom.zip" and swipe to bottom slider to install. Once done reboot your device and voila.
If you don't want to use a custom rom and you only want to use your stock rom and have root, you could simply flash the 7.19.401.102 ruu to get your OS back and then reflash latest TWRP (2.8.6.0) so you can root your stock rom. If this is what you want I can give you step by step instruction for this too, just ask if you need.
