Was running RRv1 JB, woke up to a screen asking a question in german, no idea what it was. i rebooted and went into a "samsung galaxy note" boot loop. Rebooted recovery, and tried to dirty install RRv1 over the existing version, wiped davlik and cache partition first and then midway though the install my phone went black, never to show a flicker of light ever again.
It was at 100% charge when this all started, i tried replacing the battery with a spare...nothing. It doesnt seem to want to take a charge and there seems to be nothing I can do to get even a spark of life here.
thoughts? (help!)
Jason
U should have done full wipe, data, cache and dalvik all. Try doing it now if you can enter recovery...
I can't, the phone seems dead. I'm hoping for some insights in regards to that

So my note is still dead, it won't charge...nothing.
I have a new sgn2 New but it's still like to get the note1 working again. What would you do if you were me at this point, Samsung tech support?

no recovery, then I dont know. Did you flash a non n7000 rom on phone?
If you do have recovery, old known issue, perform the wipes on save kernel and reinstall rom should fix it.
Best go to different rom and or use Phills kernel with the fix included.
That should do it, all at own risk

I have no power, it won't take a charge, it won't turn on even when I put a fully charged battery in it.
I'm asking if anyone knows of a list of things to do when your phone is in this condition. Are there certain things to check by taking the phone apart, I'd there anything I might be able to do, or must I send it away to Samsung?

I think so, I have no experience here.
I think you flashed a non n7000 rom. Search on how people fixed that

Hi Everyone.
Following on from my question this morning asking this question I have more time to be specific.
My note is unrooted and I downloaded to ICS 11.06.12 using Kies. Everything seemed to be going well except for the fact the phone just keeps switching itself on and off. For example; the screen is off, I want to check the time or date, by pressing the home button the screen switches on, all fine there, but then 7 out of ten times the phone then reboots. It has done this during calls, using apps and playing games when my son uses it.
Does anyone else have this issue or better still anyone have an idea why it does it?
Many thanks
Clean dalvik cache and cache partition in recovery mode may be it will work
Try it....

He says he's not rooted so there's no option to clean dalvik.
Also wiping cache under ics can trigger superbrick. Either install Speedmod kernel and wipe dalvik and cache, or downgrade to gb, perform full wipe of all, the upgrade again.

do not use recovery unless you are on safe kernel. All ics stock kernels are unsafe. Downgrade to gb rom or install a safe kernel than do wipe/factory reset. All the instructions are present in this forum read carefully.
People!
Before you answer some of the questions here on this thread... do take a notice first if this is a fresh question posted by OP or not!... This question raised by the threadstarter was dated -10th July 2012, 08:49 PM. Now seriously... You think he would have this issue till now??? this post is nearly almost 2 months already!!
Geez!!
Here goes; Apologize for the new thread, but due to the complexity i am posting here, (And i couldn't find any issue with the same complexity)
I have been using the note with no issues till about 24 hours ago. However last night -- while i was asleep note battery drained from 100%-0 in like 4 hours.
I recharged in, and assuming that its a kernal issue (I was on ICS 4.0.4 with g-note core kernal)... i changed it to 6 from 6.1, and then upon release of 7 -- i upgraded. the battery dropped from like 15%-0 in no time. After recharging while on the same kernal -- signal started to drop while on calls (I didnt post on the kernal thread -- as i am not sure if it is related).
So i decided to reflash the rom, with safe wipe kernals.... I tried first gnote 3.10, CM9 RC2
then stock 4.0.4 LRG
Stock 4.0.3 LPA
and even gingerbread 2.3.6 LC1.. now i am on this with zero non-stock apps, no SD card, stock Rom with stock CSC.
Now the phone acts as below,
If not connected to power it reboots as soon as you start... After GT-7000 logo (sometimes i can see the bootanimation starting.)
If it is connected to power it fully boots.. and then switches off almost immediately. (boot animation flickers)
It lasts a while longer on recovery -- i was able to flash... and almost do a full back up.,
Download mode works fine and i have been able to flash via Odin as well.
phone says battery is fully charged!
*on the latest reboot --- battery showed at 1% (in andriod) and immediately rebooted. In the cahrging mode it says its full!!!
Any ideas whats going on? or any suggestions i can try???
Thanks in advance!
Have you wipe cache and wipe data on gb rom?
If not, go to recovery and wipe cache n data, and full charge n discharge once.

Thanks... I've already done the wipe on GB stock after install, and previously on speedmod... its on charge as we speak... full discharge could be difficult, as the phone wont stay on... any ideas?

Unfortunately the note doesn't react to the charger when the battery is removed which may have helped in eliminating a dud battery as a problem. Do you have access to another battery, at least in order to eliminate that side of things?

Unfortunately no.. with a bit of luck i can locate one... battery been a dud could also be a possibility -- though i guess its unlikely, as its just a couple of months old...
Agree with roy-w
First try another battery then only it gives idea.

Ok.. so turns out its the battery, -- not so complicated after all. However i wonder if some kernel software contributed...? what do u think....
Hey,
I have a nexus, but my mate has the note. He is having all sorts of problems with it when it comes to flashing ROMs. I was hoping u smart people here might be able to help
What the problem is, is that only about one in 10 ROMs will install. He flashes the usual way... wipe everything, etc but either gets in a boot loop, or just Samsung comes up on the screen, it disappears and then comes back and this repeats. He has to then pull the battery. Another weird thing is that a ROM that may not have worked a few weeks ago, he tries it again and for some weird reason it works. So far he has never been able to flash an ICS ROM.
Any ideas? I've suggested to him to start completely afresh and use fast boot, etc again, but I'm no expert myself. I've never had any dramas myself with the nexus so this has me completely stumped....
Thanks
Dean
Swiped on my Gnex
Edit: sorry guys, he used Odin, not fast boot.
Maybe he dont follow the instructions correctly

What method is he using to flash? If using pc Odin does the flash get stuck at factoryfs. Img?
Was he on ics stock and did he perform any factory resets on it?
If answers are yes, it's likely he's got traces of damage on his emmc chip, but we need to know where the flash is failing to understand further.

No and no.
His phone came with GB. He downloads the ROMs using his computer then transfers the zip to then flash using CWM recovery.
He has tried lots of different ROMs. He tried to install a new ROM the other day but before doing so he deleted a few ROMs he still had on the SD card. He flashed the new ROM and it didn't work. He freaked coz he didn't do a backup first, but he tried installed the ROMs that were still on the SD card and found them all but one to work, and the one that worked was a ROM that he had tried before but didn't work then, but this time it did work...
What is happening? Is there something he can do?

Try flashing rom with pc odin instead of cwm.
Check out Dr ketan sticky thread in rom development for directions on how to use pc odin. It's simple.
Let us know how you progress.

What?????
Swiped on my Gnex
Sounds very odd - only though is he's not following instructions correctly..
I would be ok with this if it wasn't almost every time the phone is left alone.
i thought maybe installing CM would help but it still does it, went back to stock firmware (S5830DTLKI4) with no resolution.
It appeared to only be doing it when it is put to sleep, but after i unlocked it and tried to send a text with my Bell Canada sim card the phone restarted again.
It certainly isnt a SoD, because it is turning itself back on.
wifi is off, GPS is off, Bluetooth is off, and it is doing this on a 100% stock install; no market apps installed, no google account even linked.
so it appears to be restarting when i let it go to sleep, and when i try and send a text using a non-Koodo sim card. (although i dont know the effects with a Koodo sim; never had one)
I went to samfirmware and downloaded a md5 for the UK network Orange, but it didnt fix anything as far as i know, i didnt unlock it but it was still restarting itself.
Im wondering is this a software issue (if so, what is happening and is there a way to fix it?), or is this a hardware issue (perhaps there is a faulty capacitor somewhere on the board that isnt filtering voltage spikes and causing the device to reboot because of that)?
i couldn't find any references to this problem ever really being addressed.
help would be greatly appreciated.
The stock Samsung firmware for a Koodo S5830D is unstable, often when I was using it I would get reboots and freezing and a NO SIM CARD error constantly. If you have it rooted and want to install a custom ROM that won't reboot itself, I would recommend taking a look at CM9.1 RC4.1 by Wayland_ACE. I have never experienced a random reboot on that ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868121
Although of course you have to choose the right ROM for you. If you want to stay on Gingerbread, the official CM ROM (or an unofficial version) for the Ace should do the trick. If you don't care as much about stability experiment!
If the firmware is unstable (as it is with Koodo's stock ROM) it won't matter if it is locked or unlocked, if you want stability, change your ROM.

i tried installing the rom you linked to but im still getting the reboot problem; is there something im doing wrong?
i wiped the user data, cleared the cache, and wiped dalvik, then installed the rom you linked, using clockwork 5.0.2.6
however it still seems to want to reboot, what is going on here?

In CWM go into mounts and storage> mount /data, /system, /sdcard. Should fix bootloop.

its not a bootloop though, it's booting into CM and then once the screen goes to sleep the phone restarts itself, just like it did on the stock rom.
i already tried mounting data, system and sdcard, but it didnt help any.
Last resort... After flashing via odin, reboot into recovery & do a factory reset. If the problem persists, stop posting here & rush to service centre with the unrooted stock rom on your phone.

i was hoping id get a better answer than that, but ok then.
ive always hit factory reset and clear cache before using a stock rom, else it will boot loop.
i suppose i'll reload the stock firmware and take it in to the nearest mobile center, i dont know how much good itll do though, the phone is from anther carrier and i got no warranty papers when i bought it off a friend.

Since you don't have the warranty, you'll have to pay for the service anyway. Just be sure that the phone serial no. that's on the label after taking out the battery is intact & you are all fine to get a clean service. There's nothing much you can do by yourself as it doesn't appear to be a software problem. But it might quite happen b'coz of a faulty battery. My friend's galaxy y had the issue & a replacement killed it. So may be it with you. Anyways, before buying you can try it out with your friend's battery & hope to see if the issue is solved & then go buy one. If this doesn't help, head for service as said earlier.

Hey guys, I was running Maximum overdrive v1.0 and beastmode 56.8 kernel (no tweaks) when my phone starts freezing and rebooting. It would happen often and even at times It wouldn't boot completely I would have to remove the battery for It to boot. Then It started to get "kernel panic ulpoad mode" I odin flashed back to stock MM but same issues going on. Any ideas? Or its time for a new phone? Thank you

I was curious cause I never heard of that , and some people said a factory reset solved the problem . However a fresh Odin install is good. Did you wipe system as well as the normal wipes?

Yikes. I didn't even see a ton of info on the subject. I can't imagine there is anything left on the device to cause any issues. Hopefully someone with more knowledge about this sees this post. Note 7 release party Aug 2nd if it comes to that!
same issue i see alot of people with it, its the emmc i confirmed it beause yesterday while i was alseep my emmc decided to give up on life no recovery no download failed to read emmc, the problem is repairing it im not gonna take it to samsung as they will charge almost the price of a new phone i have found a chip for it but it says it has sm n910p/f firmware on it not sure if it would be an issue as i could reflash the tmobile firmware on it.
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bran...2630152207.html?spm=2114.40010708.4.13.nPWCQ2
any advice on the chip?
So, what was the final solution?
