Would be sweet to flash boot.img from sd rather then always using adb from pc

You cannot flash a kernel by any other means untill we get S-Off.\
So it wont work.
I would prefer doing it manually anyways... Makes me feel like a f-ing genius lol

OK so i have rooted my hero to the fresh 2.4.0 and want to change my lock screen to the invisible sliders. I have d/led one zip and when I went to flash from sdcard it fails because its unsigned but when the phone boots I have the unknown sources checked. What am I doing wrong

It may need to be flash from metamorph

Yes but if it's a metamorph, it won't flash correctly

I wouldn't mind getting the file. I am attempting to build a custom rom, but my linux machine went down...So im looking into this "Windows" environment for building roms...anyone got any experience with it?

Backup via ROM Manager with cwm is the most user-friendly method. Plus you can flash boot.img from phone using flash_image command in terminal. No need to go into recovery

nope ... didnt work on 2.3.6, had to flash chainfire's cf-root ... didnt want to root
But you can't use ClockWorkMod without root, cause it might result strange things like brick.
