I've spent the weekend attempting to master the art of rooting my Kindle Fire HD 7". I managed to root the device via KF First Aide. I was also able to install TWRP and custom ROMS. I has some issues and went back to the stock Kindle software. I once again rooted and attempted to install TWRP via KF First Aide. The Kindle went into boot loop. I was able to get the device into Fastboot with a factory cable. Before I could take any further steps to fix the problem the screen went black and will not turn back on. I've tried charging via wall charger, USB and Factory cable and still nothing. Is there a solution out there? I've tried searching for an answer on the forums and I've found similar posts, but no solutions.
I've found information for using the USB boot trick, but they all reference Kindle 1's or 2's. Noting mentioned the Fire HD. Will the same process still work for the HD 7"?
I've also DL'd the KF Unbrick app but I cannot find mention if it works with the KF HD 7".

There are stickies in the Q&A forums for all Kindle Fires, including one in the Original Kindle Fire's General Discussion forum, that explain your situation and remaining options (or lack thereof).
So to clarify what I have just read in the FAQ
Q14: How will I know if I have a bricked 2nd generation Kindle Fire that cannot be restored?
The device will not show any outward signs of life; no display, no sound, and no LED. The device may still get warm when plugged in or turned on and Windows users may see an OMAP4 device in the device manager. Again, short of sending it back to Amazon, there isn't anything that can be done.
My options are none at all unless I send it to Amazon?

Hi, I have KINDLE HD 7"
something happened to my device (I will mention later).
Consider my problem as a complete Noob with a Kindlefire HD 7" which freezes at kindle logo (it get turns off - on a 20 secs of pressing power - but again, it stops at kindle logo with no animation or movement)
here's the history:
I used c-2 method (here) successfully and got the root checker confirmation message.
Then I used kindlefirstaide and since my initial demand for rooting was VPN , I tried install VPN menu entry. there was nothing there indicating it need such a huge download on third item, I let it to be done, but at 98% my internet connection failed to respond! the first aide said it has restored the kindle successfully,
But my Kindle stops at KidleFire logo at start-up.
- what can I do to check what happened to my device?
- is my bootloader damaged? if so what can I do to fix it? which thread?
(I know usually moderators hate panic people begging for help, but I'm a complete noob and need help anyway)
There are parts of kindle fire first aide that can take 60-90 minutes. I suggest you post your problem on that thread. You will need to be patient and wait for a response as that thread gets quite busy. Good luck.

Yeah, I had recently rooted my Kindle Fire (1st Gen). I plugged in my Kindle fire and it was recognized as a Portable Device the first time, suggesting the drivers were changed again. I plugged it in again not to long after and the Kindle Fire just charges... it isn't recognized by the computer at all. The computer says that the "Device drivers were not successfully installed" though, probably implying something went wrong I guess... at this point, what can I do? It's not being recognized in any way.
You need to go to the first generation threads and ask your questions these threads are for 2nd generation and hd models.

Hi,
I'm afraid I bricked my new Kindle Fire HD 7''. Completely. After Rooting I tried to install CM using this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
Everything went smooth (no errors, all commands successful) until "fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot". The Kindle shut down after that. And never came back. The screen stays off (no backlight), no USB device is detected by Windows after plugging it in. Tried with factory and standard cable. Executing "fastboot [anthing]" always displays < waiting for device >.
Is there any help for my device? I've almost given up...
It is dead. What version was it, the 2012 or 2013 HD? Because the 2013 HD didn't have a bootloader that was exploitable and had no ROMs for it because of that, so by downgrading the bootloader on that model to the 2012's it would hard brick it. If it was the 2012 model and you had this happen I would guess you didn't verify the md5sum of the bootloader before flashing it. The only hope of fixing it is if someone posts the pin out for the emmc so you could solder the motherboard to sdcard reader and flash it from a PC running Linux. Its been done on the kf2 and hd8.9 so you can always hope someone posts it. Don't bother with looking into trying to flash it with USB shorting trick, it only works on the kf1 because of signed file we would need and don't have. Sorry if this sounds a bit pessimistic, I just thought I'd mention things that don't work and things that could in the future.

Oh sh**. It's the latest model. I somehow missed the information, that CM only runs on the 2012 model. Rooting worked great, by the way...
I haven't even heard any talk about kurohyou checking out a kfhd 2013's board to trace contacts, only some talk of the 2012 7" HD, usually the tracing process is more than likely going to ruin the board unless you are good at re-balling a emmc chip without a ir soldering station(toaster oven fun time). Since its pretty new I would assume amazon would replace it under warranty. Just tell them it won't turn on. Wouldn't mention trying to flash it.

Have you tried to use the Amazon warranty? Just want to know if that would be a possbility to try some risky things with the kindle.
thank & greets
I loaded the wrong boot loader on to my 7" kindle fire HD. Now it's dead. No power, nothing. I know some people were trying to find a solution but I haven't found anything. Please help!

There may or may not be a way to fix it with some soldering, sdcard reader and a Linux live cd, i haven't been as active in the community lately so im not sure how the efforts went with the 7" model, seems like we had it working on all the models except that particular one last i checked. Outside of that a hardbrick is not recoverable.
I have a 5th gen Fire and I tried downgrading to 5.12 from 5.32.x...it didn't work... I now have a tablet which doesn't show any signs of power... I've tried different software I.e. KFU and the Kindle Unbrick tool but no luck....anyway when I connect it to the PC I hear the sound of when I plug in a USB but then about 3 seconds after then it disconnects and then reconnects and so on but never shows anything on the screen it is completely black. My problem is that it won't stay on long enough to do any significant reflash or any kind of fix. If anyone can help me in keeping it on long enough then I could flash with its stock update. I may even have to solder some points on the board but that's fine so long as I can fix it....
Thanks in advanced any help is appreciated

Edit: thread moved to Fire forum
I have ended up in the exact same spot after attempting a downgrade to 5.1.1.
I downgraded to try and fix an odd problem. I recently wiped my CM version back to stock, but when registering the device it forced me into Kid's Edition - I did the downgrade in an attempt to bypass that. Now it's just a paperweight/doorstop.

Sorry for your loss; device is unrecoverable. Contact Amazon for a courtesy replacement is still under warranty.
