Anyone have any details on whether we can use this? Looks like the HTC One (and GS4) have an updated Camera App that has better performance. Can we port this?
"One area where stock Android typically falls short of its skinned competition is with the default camera app, which suffers from an overly simple UI and mediocre image processing. We're happy to report that both Google Play edition phones feature an updated app (1.1.40012 vs. 1.1.40001 on Nexus devices), which provides much improved imaging performance. "

For first lock new version has no difference with stock.
Oh, and I seem to have lost my widescreen photo settings.
thx for the apk file
thanks but i prefer the sense camera !
force closes when i switch to video
I haven't the macro setting
the sense camera is the best, it even has a face detection feature, the stock android camera is really, well the android developers in charge of the YouTube app and camera app, should just get fired, thats just my own and personal opinion.
im sorry if i offend anybody, but i just had to say it.

I think it wont be possible due to the fact that we don't have dual camera which is required for this to work.
If you search the store, you'll find a few apps which can apply the focus effect based on the image's edges information, such as this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dumplingsandwich.focuseffect
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motionone.afterfocus
You will never get an as accurate result as with the dual camera, but you can still give it a try

Nokia has only one camera in 920 and the same effect came with the new software update. Maybe there will be a solution like this in the future.
Since the other two posters already answers your question, I'm not going to do it again. I will say this though. If your thread starts with "[Q]", why did you think putting it in Themes and Apps would be the right place to post?

You need to flash the dual camera hardware mod first to add the depth sensor......
Well I found out about afterfocus in the HTC get started setup.
After focus is quite buggy though.
How does Sony's Background Defocus and Nokia's app do this, without a depth sensor - it's visually better than the m8 too :0
Though the app works on the Xperia S with the z1 camera with its z2 defocus app.
Basically, this defocus thing is possible on all devices without a depth sensor - but has a auto focus camera (which nearly all do ). The z2 takes pictures at different focus points and combines them once you choose your area to "have focus"

Just wondering who's using an aftermarket camera app on their N6 since the stock Google Camera app is pretty basic. In particular, I'm wondering about a good camera app that can do burst mode and slow mo video. Ideally, free, of course without ads, but if it's a really good app, I don' t have issues purchasing.
I've seen/researched various camera apps on Google Play that have the features and are rated well, but haven't seen/read any reviews (that i can find) about one being used specifically with the N6.
Any thoughts/recommendations?
questions go into q&a not into general. general information goes here.
I have camera fv5, a batter camera, and some others but in my own opinion google or AOSP cameras take the best pictures especially with HDR+
Hi all
Just a question - is it possible to copy/transfer the camera software (or recreate the software) used to process images from the Galaxy Note 4 into a new camera app, then place the app on the Google Play store for download? Maybe a stupid question but I am not a developer.
I've seen so many negative reports on the stock camera on the Nexus 6 and so many underwhelming reviews regarding the camera so I was wondering if a camera app could be downloaded from the store which would drastically improve the camera abilities in both normal and low-light shots.
I specifically state a new app/software which could be downloaded from the store because most people complaining likely just download apps and do not root/install custom overlays etc - maybe something like that could fix their problems.
I wouldn't be surprised if no camera app from the app store would be able to significantly improve the camera experience, bringing it to the same level as the Note 4 in low-light and everyday pictures though - but again, Im no expert on app development.
Since Google Pixel 3 launched, the modder tried to port the camera app to the another Android devices, I'm so excited about it. But unfortunately until now the app not coming even to single Sony devices. So, anyone's here please make it available for Sony Xperia X Performance.

I wonder though: which version of that port is suitable for X Performance?
Presumably need to find the device that has the same SoC and camera
With kind regards.
UPD #1: GCam_5.3.015-Pixel3Mod-Arnova8G2-v4Beta1 - this version is working for X Performance, testing further on Oreo 8.1 AOSP with kernel v4.9
UPD #2: also installed HEVC+SloMo GCam (Magisk) from the OnePlus 3/3T section via Magisk, the app does not crash or anything, safe to use I guess....
UPD #3: HDR+ is not working, maybe need some tweaking in the Advanced section of Settings
UPD #4: At the very first switcing to 60 fps mode the app reports a crash; after a re-launch the mode persists as set, video records fine, no idea if it is actually 60fps
Anyways, test out, guys!
P.S. HDR+ engine seems funky for the device: the camera snaps the original picture just fine, but the processing messes the picture up in the end. Maybe should talk to the developer of the port.

Hello, @Ontrinity,
you can look up to post #3 and see that I have already replied to your question (much earlier than you even asked it). Please use the instructions.
In the meantime, consult a doctor on the matter of your eyesight - I think it's alarmingly poor and you might need to use some glasses or lenses.
Have a very nice day, and thank you for your time.
