Sometimes it's listed on ptcrb and Sony doesn't roll out the firmware. Really depends on Sony, it will come if it comes.

It's true, it happened many times already in the past. Just like in TX, they skipped some firmwares that they initially listed at PTCRB. So don't expect too much when new firmwares are listed there. Anyway, the current firmwares(at least I know for TX) has been rock solid. And Sony is being more up to date this time around compared to previous years.

I would like to tell you that no sony phone other than Xperia Z and ZL with a smaller screen sports a full hd screen. However there are several devices having a resolution with 720x1280.

There are rumours of one. Should be a 4.6" with full HD. But it's a rumor at best.

Hi everyone
I recently purchased an Xperia T unlocked and while looking in the build.prop I noticed something weird, the proc showed up as MSM8960! As I was unsure because I had already messed around with my phone, I decided to do a system repair through pc companion to set my phone back to base. I then used android system info to recheck and sure enough, the proc still shows MSM8960. Am I dreaming or isn't the processor supposed to be a MSM8260-A.
Please enlighten me, have Sony updated things on later Xperia T's or is it just wishful thinking on my behalf.
Mine says the same, I don't know if it's supposed to be like this, it probably just doesn't specify this exactly for some reason.

Going to ask sony now:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/461839#461839
Perhaps a software problem but if not it would be weird!!
Well, at least I'm not the only one. If someone who owns the T since October did the same tests we'd be basically fixed...
I own my xt since November and it say's the same...

Ok thanks for the feedback. It's still a bit strange. I wonder what Sony will say, if anything, in the thread that was opened on their site.
Mine is manufactured in early March 2013 and it also says MSM8960.
Same on mine. But it's the same right? Only LTE is the difference.

Yep, it is technically
Right to clarify this:
The chip set in the T is the 8260A. However for software purposes it is so similar to the 8960 that it may as well have been named that. Every reference you will find will be to 8960 - technically in CAF 8260A doesn't even exist. This is why you find the baseband saying 8960.
Sony's answer:
Correct chip set is MSM8960.
The white paper is going to be corrected accordingly.

Looks like it is made by a 5 year old and Xperia T is twice in the image, 1 with YES and 1 with NO.

Different strokes... Wait until you take a picture on the Nexus 4 (or from what the specs say the 5). Unlike the Sony, it is truly horrible camera.
The trick is never buy a subsidized phone, then it won't be simlocked or bootloader locked. That was an option with the Xperia T. I picked up mine for $279 at newegg.

if thats what you mean, i had that too with some Roms, but with omniRom its gone for me. dont know why. guess its a problem with some mic or whatever. happen for me just with some roms, not with all...crazy huh
thats your problem?
Maybe the Xperia T LTE is the one getting 4.3 update. I think the 3G one will not get the update. Maybe i'm wrong.
Neither are just like what happened to my play. A phone with specs good enough but not given the updates on purpose. If sony want to gain the market they need to release 1 flagship a year and support their previous flagships for longer than 5 months. The galaxy s3 is older and is getting android 4.3 and why aren't we?

Because no update to new version and sony bad, nexus cool because google. New version is good, because it keeps on battery half hour longer/lasts shorter but better. And profiles/new function in camera which i will use two times in my life/better integration with google plus omg! And no new version means that flagship abandoned. I am betrayed. sony bad.
To be honest i don't understand it too. When it comes - it comes. If not - who cares. Update from 2.3 to 4.0 was a big deal, because everything changed. API, nature of Android etc. GB slowly died and became incompatible with many interesting apps.
But update from one jelly bean to another? Dudes... It's only features!
Please just be happy that Sony released quite recent well written Android version. It's highly optimized and allows to do almost everything that is available to 4.2 and 4.3 devices..

Bootloader unlock issue.* There is nothing wrong with the bootloader itself.
But yeah it is frustrating to see them release an AOSP project for a low-end device like the Xperia L, while the flagship Z1 is still waiting. If I am to speculate I believe it literally is the issue with the current camera drivers, and I think we'll see an AOSP project for Z1 as soon as official 4.3 is released.

If Sony wants to to remove the "Sony doesn't update old devices " tag they have, they need to update the original Z line (Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z) to it. But, as off now, no news regarding Nexus 4, which has the same processor as ours. Let's wait until Sony give us a pronouncement regarding that...

If Sony would support our Z for the 18 months, there is a possibility that we might get it.
They really need to get rid of their "bad" image regarding updates.
Doesn't matter either way, would be nice to run it, but the fact is some of the benefits won't be there for our hardware, and most of us will be due a new phone by then.

anyone able to get the hardware requirements? @kingvortex i know it's great, it's my first flagship device i am really happy with all the updates and roms and developers and stuff.
so you guys definitely think we will be able to run android L with or without sony?
Without, I'm sure. With Sony? Maybe not so fast. System Requirements, weren't even mentioned. But it will be running on phones cheaper than the Moto E, which is already extremely cheap by itself, so I think the Xperia Z (and brothers) will handle it just fine.

Android L is said to come to Xperia Z officially.. Probably the last update.. But i think its a major upgrade in terms of UI.. Its already known that Android L's UI includes a lot of Sony APIs and CM APIs.. With LG also working along, i think it will be very good.. And 4.4.2 was a initial major upgrade from Jelly Bean fw's.. And things got well in 4.4.3.. I think Android L would be less buggy and would bring more performance and system stability because of ART only.. I think it will be a big upgrade..

So, a guess from a random website based on what Sony did with KitKat. Previous update schedules don't affect the likelihood either way of getting newer versions of Android.

It would be great, but I have doubts that it will. HTC are talking about providing it for some of their devices 90 days after release. If Sony were to even follow such a fast schedule then it takes us well outside of the supposed 18 months of support for Android devices.
I hope they surprise us though. ?
