xperia z water proof test menu - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a xperia z (c6602)
water proof on the part of the service when I tested the service test menu, "this device does not support the function" writes. What is the meaning of it. my device is not waterproof?

I don't think waterproof test can be done with software

Well ofc it can't be done with Software... but at his place i would feel better when the software test say's 'ok' or 'yes'.. just to be more sure :d

My guess is it has something to do with the message popping up the first time you unplug your headset, where it is reminding you to make sure the lids are properly closed to avoid water damage.

i think it s default menu of android But i don't why is it thr and why sony didn't edit it !!!

I think waterproof test in android would require a barometer sensor like on samsung... You dip it in the water then the barometer sensor kicks in measuring the pressure and humidity inside the phone.

The reason why "unsupported" appears is because they re-use the same service menu apk on multiple devices. Some of those devices probably support hardware-testing for waterproofiness via electrically conductive wiring in the flaps or something, which is obviously not foolproof and can give a false readings, ironically enough, if there is enough water between the contacts... hehehe. This, and to reduce design complexity, is probably why the functionality isn't included on the XZ.

I have the same problem in my Xperia Z too. If "this device does not support the function" writes, really does not support?? what wrong??

[Q] one more confused soul..Xperia T or TX

Hello friends,
I own a Xperia Arc S and would like to upgrade. But not shure whether to get Xperia T or TX
Xperia T have good ROM support over here whereas TX doesnt.
According to me TX looks better though.
I know the actualy difference between them but would like to know lil more from users.
So i need your help guys in deciding as it is a big investment and dont want to regret later in future.
I went through many threads but couldnt find my answers.
Any help is appreciated
Thank You
I got the T, and never once missed the removable battery, off not I really like non removable battery, it is a little bit bigger, and hard reboot is done with button combo.
Sent from my Xperia LT30p using XDA Premium app.
Did I help? Then please press the thanks button
The real big selling point of T is it's LTE capability but provided your carrier also supports it. Otherwise just get the TX, it slightly looks better plus battery is removable.
Btw, the TX has the CyanogenMod support now also like the T.
Tapatalked from my TX
yea i was wondering about the hard reboot too..normal we just remove the battery to restart. But always wondered what non-removable battery mobile ppl do..
I have one more doubt. Cant we flash T ROM on TX just like we do in Arc forum. Arc S ROMs can be flashed on Arc with lil patch.
For ICS ROMS that is indeed possible, the patch isn't there (yet) for JB

So TX users haven't enjoyed the taste of sony JB yet?
There is a thread very similar to this already.
If I recall correctly, the only differences were the T has better rom support, LTE capability, and a bigger battery, while the TX has a removable (but less capacity) one.
yes i went through many threads but couldnt find my answer correctly.
Hope TX ROM support really picks up. Bad thing is that launch of xperia Z is around the corner and many ppl will go for that instead of xperia T or TX and this is surely hit TX development.

thanks for clearing that doubt..so frankly speaking for which device should i go for? I know it will be my decision in the end but I at a point where i can go for any device..so confused..
So ROM support wise =T
Design and look wise = TX?
battery wise = TX?
overall = ?!?!

Battery wise I would say T, since it has a bigger battery.
Design, in my opinion, T
Screen wise, tx does seem a little clearer, but only if you have touch firmware B
Rom support, definitely T
Overall: T

I've had mine since October, and it's like brand new (and I don't use any case). Perhaps there was a faulty batch.

XV is not available in India yet
as of now only T and TX are available..
Its really sad how Sony are slow to launch a product in India even when they know India is one of the biggest and important market.

[Q]Service Tests - Water Proof for Xperia V

Hi, I've made service test through *#*#SERVICE#*#* dialer.
But, I have question here. When I want to make service test for water proof, it says "This device does not support the function.".
What does it means? Xperia V is not water proof/resistance? Just curious. Anybody noticed?
Thanks.

How do you expect a waterproof servicetest to be?
Start test, put your device in water 30 seconds, if it the device dies it failed the test?

lol,
That test works this way.
Put your phone in the bath for half an hour then try to get back to that test. If it still says
"This device does not support the function"
then it passed.
If it does not turn and on and you can pour water out of your SIM/SDcard/Charger slot then it failed.

Thanks for your feedback.
Its kind of weird because my Xperia GO could run the test while my Xperia V couldn't. Same water resistance smartphone but different result in test. Just curious about the service, not the physical of the smartphone itself (I know it is water resistance because I've tried already).
I just want to know anybody out there using Xperia V have the same result?
Thanks.

please tell me what was the test on Xperia Go

any one observed this on the SONY MOBILE site?

quite wierd may be graphic typo but on the SONY mobile site , if you go to the updates section the white XZ has the cable setting at the right bottom seeing it closely its the normal XZ but looks like the screen is 180degree tilt
Yes it's the screen orientation which is different, rotated 180 (upside down)
Sent from my C6602 using xda premium
Just looks like a XZ hooked on an MHL adapter.
there's is less wasted space on the bottom of the phone (less bezel?)
Their photoshopper must have messed up the orientation and the margins I think.

hi all big thank you for clicking on this thread,
after many hours of Google searching this is how i found a gem and stumbled across xda and what it has to offer ( to good to be true i am such a nobe! )
so i thought its worth a long shot and ask a some one who eats sleeps and treats there android like it there life
so i come to right my saga on this very annoying problem! in hopes that i find a fix
i have a sony c6903 i bought in pieces quite literally and after many hours of cooking chromosomes and phone surgery and losing that tiny spring as you do and a sudden development of turrets after as you know its important, i went out getting new parts ( front lcd glass rear glass sim card tray < the reset button is where that little spring is ) and way more to much to list but i bought the workings of near enough a new phone very odd but wasn't gonna let it defeat me
but any way
all seams to be fine and working well apart from the GPS on the handset
i tried to purge the gps by putting *#*#7378423#*#* in the phone dialer and purge the assistance data with out no joy i also ran a diagnostic from the setting in the phone and it says no gps found test failed,
completely baffled that something so small i guess can be a big problem ( i am talking about the phone here )
could any one please please help as i'm chucking down the gauntlet here
