All,
Going to be getting my new Developer Edition this week and wondering if I should root and install a ROM on it? I'm on the S3 right now and have been a crack flasher throughout all my Android phones...I have slowed down a bit over the years due to being tired of flashing and troubleshooting etc..
Though I just started checking out the Development section in this forum, just wondering did you guys automatically rooted and install new rom when you got it or still on stock and let it be?
Just want some opinions on the matter. I'm leaning towards leaving it stock for the time being and maybe flashing a new rom later. Does the current Roms add that much enhancements to the phone?
Thanks for all opinion.
Almost every ROM for the One that I've seen has either been a variation of Sense, or a dump off from a Google Edition. I would root your device for the apps that need the permissions ( i.e Titanium backup) but wait for the ROMs, unless you really want to try out Sense.
I'm rooted, but I still choose to use Sense as my daily driver. It has a refreshing UI, and its not all that intrusive compared to earlier versions of it.
Hope this helps!

Thank you soo much. That is a very helpful answer. I will root and keep it stock so I can use the root apps like you suggested until a ROM I see comes along that I like.
Thanks alot!

Ah yes, of course! Is the Dev Edition known for stuck pixels?
One last thing, is the Developer Edition already S-Off or do I need to do that also?
You will need to S-OFF. It only comes unlocked (bootloader). As for stuck pixel, it isn't any more prevalent in the Developer line than others. The HTC LCD supplier has kinda 50/50 in terms of having stuck pixels. At least that's what the xda poll indicates.
Ok, one last thing I promise.....Anything special I need to do in regards to APN's, radios etc...when I set up a new account with At&t? I'm coming from Verizon and porting over my number to At&t. Once I get my phone, I'm just gonna go to At&t, get the plan I want, get an LTE sim and pop it in.
I've read people talking of signal stregth, APN's, radios etc...Do I need to update anything or flash anything?
How are radios updated anyways with the Dev Edition?

Developer edition is pretty much identical to the AT&T version. You shouldn't need to update anything to get it running.

Hello,
Is there anyone who has this file? Or knows how to make a proper dump?
I think we need a REAL dump 100% working for TMO.
Thanks to all that help.

thank you MS_guru (forever in my good graces)
There are numerous differences b/t stock and the MS_Guru one and some of the bloatware being removed is the only positive one I can find. It has lots of problems. (i.e. market missing tons of apps, lots of problems w/ sync constantly running, media scanner running over and over, USB connction to pc is unreliable, ROM rebooting randomly,)
Huge, huge thanks to MS_Guru for getting this (it saved more than a few of us) but I agree with the need for a 100% working stock ROM.

I Think the guy is asking about shipped rom, the one the guru posted is pre-released, I know there is a difference because I got my phone shipped and there was no T-mobile sync and some software was different. I wouldn't mind getting Original "shipped" rom myself, I have some fc and loss of 3G with guru's image.

Exactly, I have some of these problems with the rom
Me too, I just want to Stock T-mobile Rom that the phones were shipped with. MS_guru one is the closes I can find but I do experience some issues such as missing Market apps and my Avatar movie not playing.
I having same issue, I bring back to T-mobile store and they exchange a new one for me.
Now I'm happy

Looking at the CSC files it looks like the release ROM is JFD that may help you track it down
From what i have heard about the rom posted here.
Its a pre-release rom. We need the real deal. I cannot believe no one on this forum doesnt know any TMO support guys. To get us a firmware.
It sucks that captivate users have access to a stock rom but we don't =/

I could make one, but I had already removed a ton of system apps before I flashed the recovery. SO Im not exactly stock. That said I never tired using the beta recovery, so Its all stock kernel, ROM, etc otherwise
Yours is going to be better than anything else we've got. Would you mind posting it?

Hi all,
I have Incredible S, all from the factory (software, Sense..etc)
I would like to know step by step how to :
1- Install a new ROM.
2- Having the news HTC Sense 3.5 on it and also if that have any negatives or if something might not work.
3- The latest ROM I can install.
4- Any additional info you think I should know as I am new to Android and HTC world.
Thank you,
Michel
The best bit of advice I can give you is search, search, search! All the info you need dude has already been asked and answered so hit that search button and spend a bit of time finding it out for yourself. Best place to start is the development forum where you can learn and download many different ROMs and find out which is the best one for you. Good luck...and welcome!
yep, you are right,
but sometimes when you are totally new to something you need some help at least with knowing the name of the best ROM as I've found many of them with different issues.

Go read the sticky threads in the Dev section. You have some work ahead of you before you can flash a custom Rom.
Yes, I went, and all is ready, my PC and my mobile,
the only thing I need is a ROM which doesn't have problems and won't effect my device plus a new version of Sense.

Ok, then nandroid backup and start flashing Roms then. Only you will be able to determine which Rom will fit your criteria. What you may think is a 'problem' on one Rom may not be that big of deal to someone else, so just start trying them yourself.
Problems like WiFi, Camera, SD Card, Backlight, Bluetooth.. all these are problems which I think might be issue for all users .
only a starting name would be enough to me

I would agree totally with all of those which is why I personally have not even tried any of the Sense 3.0 Roms. IMHO the current GB 2.3.3 Rom with Sense 2.1 runs just fine on my IncS so I won't be able to offer you any suggestions.
Revolution HD has no known issues download that and stop complaining. There is no "best ROM" try them all, the only thing you have to lose is bandwidth and time.
I use Newt pyramid beta 3 sense 3.0 gb 2.3.4 its stable, crazy fast, as current as you can get, and if you check the last of the comments almost all of the bugs have been fixed.

try a new radio...
I find the 20.2810 one has great signal
Is that a newer one than I have now? I received a 30mb update recently. Any negatives effects with it, battery life?

yeah it's the newest. I think it works perfectly and has the best signal of all the radios I've tried
Right, I might have to look into that, just hopes it improves things for me.
I'm still considering returning the phone though due to the signal drop outs, I'm a bit reluctant to root or do anything that'll stop me from being able to return it. Can I take it that running an RUU will put everything back to stock, including radio and S Off?
Yes. If you root using AlpaharevX and not a permanent root using a gold card then flashing a stock RUU will bring you back to S-on. Give it a go, I did, happy so far and have the stock RUU downloaded and ready to go if need be.
I don't think I need a Gold Card with it being a sim free unit? So it should be just a case of following this guide http://is.gd/5wKZRZ and then flashing a different radio?
If I don't like the results then I should be able to run an RUU to get me back to stock?

Back up your current ROM just incase you f*ck up and get going flashing some ROMs I only flashed Android Revolution HD yesterday after asking the community a few questions and look forward to seeing how it goes, check out some of my posts for some of those questions if you want. If not happy will try something else and always have a carbon copy of my original stock ROM to restore if need be....simple
Hello, I have been unable to find anything about this elsewhere so I've resorted to asking here:
I am looking to install Android Revolution HD 3.5 on my HTC One, but one thing that is worrying me is that the firmware versions don't match, even though the One I have (from Three) hasn't actually received any firmware updates yet so it's still completely stock apart from the root.
The firmware on the device is 1.28.771.6 and almost all ROMs for the device are at 1.28.401.7. So I am basically just wondering if I have anything to really worry about, because I desperately want to move to ARHD, but the risk of bricking is making me paranoid, due to the process being very different to how it was done on the Samsung Galaxy S II I had before this.
Thanks!

Do these version numbers mean anything when it comes to Cyanogenmod, AOSP-PA and other such ROMs?

I'm new with HTC myself, coming from an S2 and Nexus 4, however at the moment there aren't any Cyanogen based roms out, so you don't need to worry for now maybe ask in those threads when they are released.
for any reason I am not receiving any OTA update an still on 4.1.2, my phone is factory sim unlocked; I do not want to change anything else on my phone just receive oficial updates. As far as I know I need to unlock, S-OFF, change CID and MID. I have been reading many diferent posts but allways refer to install custom roms; is this realy necesary just to receive OTAs?, if so, where can I find one for my version?.
Thanks in advance for any help

Use Vomers s-off guide. It is located in the Htc one development forum. First thing is unlock your bootloader on HTC's site. Make sure you update your firmwares at the end of the vomer guide too. This will update your touchscreen, radio etc.. Flashing roms does not do that. Remember, unlocking bootloader wipes your phone, so backup first!
Whoa. The OP stated that he doesn't want to modify the phone, just receive the official OTA updates. Leading him down the path of unlocking bootloader, flashing recovery and ROM is just going to lead to a 'Help me I need to get my phone back to stock or else I have no warranty!' thread. And specifically, these changes will prevent the OP from applying the update. OTA updates can only be applied to phones in a stock state.
Have you confirmed that there is an update for HTC__332? I know that the US skipped 4.2.2 and some carriers are only just rolling out a 4.3 update. Check with your mobile phone company or wherever you got the phone. You just might need to be patient. For example, my phone won't be getting a 4.3 update until next month.
Now if you decide are impatient, then you can have some fun installing firmware and ROMs But always, always take a backup

Yes you are correct, I just don´t have enought knowledge to deal with any possible problem on my phone. I don´t know how to confirm if there is any update for this CID, I asked some days ago to HTC support but they didn´t provide me any good information, all they said is that according to the imei number this phone is factory unlocked (no carrier logo or apps) and the origin is USA; due to my work I am using this phone with different carriers in diferent countries, I got it from a web store.
Thanks a lot for your response, I thing the best decision for me is wait for the OTA and learn more before start to do some crazy things.

Yes exactly the same here, same automatic camera update, same new orange camera icon; also no tv app, according to the installed apps list sense tv is there but the icon to launch it is not.
I really feel like I did a big mistake moving from iOS to Android, I never needed to be asking for updates before because they just came easy and fast, also the phone was out of the box with all apps and utilities included, but, it is what it is, I'm just waiting for the next model and for sure I'll be back to iOS.

Okay. I am also new to android. It's my first android phone and I was so excited.but al this update thing makes me crazy. Sometimes I think maybe I should have bought a s4 since it's a more favorable phone worldwide. But I just fell in love with the design of the HTC ONE.But the tv app is not available every where. It depends on your country.(I am in Suriname) I read it on HTC website itself. But if got an update to android 4.3 please let me know.(same goes for me)

I did a search on your CID and yeah, it did sounds very strange. I wonder why they omitted the TV app. Bear in mind, this phone is only 6 months old. We were getting ios updates a year apart?
My first post wasn't intended to discourage you from unlocking and playing with custom ROMs, just a word of caution and to prepare before jumping in.
There's quite a few people who would be envious of your lack of updates because you are on hboot 1.44 which means you can get S-OFF and gives you a lot more flexibility.

Ok guys I did everything according to the provided links and BOOOOMM it works perfect, right now I am running 4.2.2 WWE version, TV app is there and the phone is working smooth.
Now I am re locked, no tampered and still S-OFF, I believe this will not be a problem to keep receiving OTAs, just waiting for 4.3 release for this version.
I just noted that now I have a red letters warning in the TELL HTC screen saying something like "this is a test device not intended for sale............", I think that this is because still S-OFF and don't know if this could be a problem, I would appreciate if anybody knows how to get rid of this warning, NOTE this warning is not in the boot screen
Thakns again

Hey guys,
So I recently got the HTC One Remix (the Verizon version of the HTC One Mini 2) and I would like to root it and install a custom ROM for it (preferably Cyanogenmod). The problem is verizon makes it hard to do any of these things and sadly switching carriers isn't really an option any time soon so I am trying to make do.
HTC-Dev reportedly won't work with verizon phones and many of the solutions for the HTC One Mini 2 don't work for the Remix even though they are essentially the same phone. Cyanogenmod has the HTC One Mini 2 listed as a supported device but I am not sure if that will work with the Remix because a carrier is not specified.
I have yet to see anyone who has had any luck, so is there anyone out there at all who is running a custom ROM on a rooted HTC One Remix? If so, what did you use to obtain root (sunshine maybe?) and what custom ROM are you running?
I'm majorly new to this sort of thing so hopefully the solutions are relatively easy so I don't end up bricking my phone.
Any help at all would be much appreciated!

As far as I can see there aren't many hardware differencec between the two phones. The only problem is that at this point there is no other way of unlocking these phones then trough HTC dev. I don't think there is a lot of development going on with unlocking with other methods. How do you know HTC dev isn't supporting your device? Did you check if "All other supported models" in the list?

It a verizon exclusive and HTC Dev doesn't work on verizon phones. The carrier blocked it. There's also a disclaimer somewhere deep on the htc site.
Thanks though. I'm just frustrated because I like the phone but I also really want to root it. I've tried a couple of the easier methods like sunshine and towelroot and those don't work I'm only on 4.4.2 but with my low skill level in this area I'm not sure if there's much I can do. I know s-off and root aren't the same thing but that's supposed to make it easier to find a way to achieve root right?
Aha then i'm afraid there isn't much you can do. Only wait for s-off because but I don't think it is goanna happen. My previous device is a One X and they had a huge user/developer base but never achieved s-off. It seems HTC really did a good job at closing this down.

I need Stock recovery Please Send me the link :crying:
HTC One mini 2/remix stock recovery
Hi. I might be able help you here.
Here is a link to what I'm pretty sure is the stock recovery. Note this dumb forum won't let me post links, so reassemble this yourself..
h t t p s
w w w . androidfilehost . c o m
/?fid=95784891001615233
Can't remember the exact cmd line.. something like adb flash recovery <file>
Now for the rom, I'll have to see if the link I got it from is still valid when I get home. There's a guy 'jcase' I think on the IRC that uploaded his personal backup that worked for me.
To be clear, the rom is for the HTC One 'remix' - Verizon's branded HTC one mini 2. There is NO working cyanogenmod that I know of.
btw you will need the TWRP recovery to restore from the rom backup when you get it, so the stock recovery might only be useful if the flash still has the recovery image on it.
Certainly worth trying first.
Good luck,
-M
Xda Devs, please we HTC one remix users need a custom Rom and s-off for our device.... We would really appreciate it if you help us
