[ROM] Cassie's XtraLiteRom JELLYBEAN V14.8 LSZ "Your Rom Your Way" 24/02/2013
Cassie's XtraLiteRom jellybean EDITION v14.8 LSZ
You're Rom You're way
Now the longest running Custom Rom for the Galaxy Note
Version 14.6 onwards has a totally rewritten aroma installer giving you additional flexibility.
Many users asked for the option to install just apps from Aroma which in previous versions was not possible. Well now it is. If you wish to go back in and install just one app you can do so now.
You also get to choose your modem as well with several options avaliable which best suits different areas.
Too make the rom your own select - Option 4) Create your own XLR rom to your liking - in the Aroma Installer
This is where the magic begins. In the background you will have the Original XLR edition base, but you can select which apps and mods you want to install. It is all done in touch recovery and very easy to use. You can add only the apps you want, wethere you want 15 toggle mods etc. You can build your rom your way
See the all new Aroma in action here:
Why use this rom. Well its a good solid base for you to tweak how YOU want. There are many roms out there far in advance of this one however what we have here is a smooth trusty solid rom.
The following explains why people use this rom

Rom is very fluid. So far after a few hours of usage, its bugfree and no FC's from my end. So far i cannot tell about battery life and frankly speaking i dont care. As long as i can feel the smoothness and fluidity of things, i am a happy person. You have done a great job here. Rom is really fast and smooth. All the crap stuff that shouldnt be in there, isnt in there and that's a fantastic job.
I would highly recommend this rom for those who intend on using it as daily drivers. No crap stuff, pure simple and a painless rom.
Thanks @thering1975.

There's a lot of other ROMs out there, and I've tried them all. Some had lots of
stock crapware (slooow), some had kernel issues (baterry overheating, poor life).
That's why I keep finding myself restoring XL6, much like a stray hubby coming back to his good wife after a romp on the side.
So, thank you once again for your great work.

FAQ
Q) Do you offer support?
A) I do this for the fun of it, i wanted a challenge when i got the note back in November 2011 and there was only 1 custom rom. So i thought i would learn and see if i could produce one. I made errors on the way and in fact its great to look back at the original posts to see how far we have come. Anyways a year on and a few grey hairs later and its still going strong. But to the point in hand, yes i will support anyone as long as they have read the instrucions and reread them and then applied them. If you are courteous so will i, if you are rude i will just ignore you. Users of this rom feel free to assist anyone, however this thread has always been free of rudeness or arogance and i like to keep it that way. Too many custom rom threads degenerate into flaming or *****yness, NOT HERE though, this rom has survived because its a good solid stable twekable rom to your liking with users that actually care.
Q) Come on wheres your donate button hidden?
A) i did this for myself to prove i could do it, i didnt think anyone would want to use it but some seem to like it. However the true heroes are people like Philz for his kernel and Pikachu01 for his excellent tweaks, and Eyebee for his dedication to the community. If you want to make a donation then please assist them as without them our phones would never get away from stock!
Q) Mirrors and ETA
A), Firstly i will use two hosts Dev Host and Mega. Mega is the fastest DevHost is for those that cannot reach Mega. If you wish to provide a mirror then feel free i do not track downloads just please pm me the link so i can dd to the front page rather than posting the link direct. Also please do not ask for ETA, i always keep users informed of the progress and expected ETA if i give a date or time ill keep to it unless something goes wrong.
Let's give this a try really needed a lite ROM,
Thanks
Let me know how you get on its early stages but pretty stable so far. Remember to check known issues

Does the ROM offer better battery life? From experience?
This is my main niggle with the note so far, that and all the bloatware, so if the above is true, this would be win-win for me!
Thanks for all your efforts BTW!

Great news not tried that kernel, may take a look as some additional screen state tweaks can be applied to a overclockable kernel, to enhance battery power from oc roms
Not content with having only a few ROMs available for our devices, I decided to see if I could make a Jellybean ROM Porting package that you could flash on top of an i717 ROM.
I have made a flashable zip that successfully loads Jellybean ROMs just fine but with two bugs I was able to notice:
The phone does not recognize that it has any vibration hardware, so capacitive buttons and silent mode with vibration dont work.
WiFi does not turn on
What I did was take existing kernels from our current Jellybean Roms, injected our phones RIL files, and wrapped it into a flashable zip.
So far I only have those two bugs, so I am curious if anyone has any ideas what other files need to be changed to make this porting package work?
Update: I tried a bunch of different Roms and system file combinations, still having the two bugs above in every ROM.
Here's the porting package in case anyone wants to try upgrading or fixing it or testing other ROMs.
http://db.tt/iWn2gt5q
Simply wipe your phone, flash an i717 ROM, then the porting package, then wipe dalvik cache and cache.
Credits to Jamie for his awesome paranoid android ROM, from which I had used some of the files from in this package

ok so I am having a problem. I downloaded PA 2.23 and went to install and i got a fail message. I use twrp so i installed a i1717 twrp and then it let me install PA 2.23. I installed the porting package and then wiped cache and delvik and rebooted phone. After the restart the bottom lights up but just stays lit up. Nothing else happened for 20 minutes. I wiped everything, used darkside to wipe phone. What am i doing wrong? Thanks

I never tried testing with the i717 twrp, I used our phones recovery.
I had the same issue. The solution is simple, but takes a little bit of effort
The problem is that the ROM has a device check in the updater-script within the ROM zip file in the META-INF folder. You have to extract the zip, open the updater-script in a text editor and remove the first few lines that specify the prop checks for quincyatt and i717. Then compress it and reflash using the steps I mentioned.

The vibration problem and wifi problem are from not I corporating the kernel modules into the ROM. What you are looking for is dhd.ko and vibtator.ko.

Hi to all at XDA i have decided to start creating a customized ROM for my N7000 and thought i would share what i have so far..
The main purpose of this ROM is to be a bare bone and bloatware free ROM so the user can build on the base to have what apps they want on their device without having all the cr*p.
I have removed all apps and bloatware from the ROM (see changelog)
I have added some tweaks using init.d to help keep the ROM running smoothly Also added Philz Kernel 4.63
I will be continuing to add tweaks and ROM mods/settings etc as the weeks go by and any updates will be put here in this thread..
Inside 4ndroid
deodexed and rooted XXLSZ + Philz Kernel 4.63 + Tweaks
How to Flash:
Download and put ROM file on your sd-card
Boot into CWM
Do a FULL WIPE (i personally do data wipe/factory reset and the format system)
now install zip from sd-card
reboot
Enjoy

How did you end up deodexing it? I tried doing the S Finder/Quick Connect mod for the Sprint model and using this method to deodex SystemUI but the result didn't work, constant SystemUI FCs even after clearing the dalvik-cache. I think it's been at least a year since I did any smali work so this is the first time I've worked with any Lollipop files.

I'm with ya man. I'm an AOSP guy myself, smali, baksmali all that are so foreign to me. But, I figured out enough to get it deodexed and do some hacks. Go to this thread I'm linking and read the last few pages, mostly my posts. All the info you need to deodex is there. I would advise you NOT to use that tool to deodex though. Use joeldroids, it leaves the deodexed files in the original folder which makes it 1000x's easier to keep track of.

Thanks, hopefully I can work on it some this weekend. I haven't had any luck doing mods so far, tried to mod the camera for 560 dpi too but my recompiled APK wouldn't work there either so I may hit you up later on if I run into any issues.
95% FUNCTIONAL 925T PACKAGE
DEODEXED, REMOVED APPS THAT CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM PLAY STORE. IT HAS @ktoonsez LATEST KERNEL WHICH INCLUDES THE DEEP SLEEP FIX.
I HAVE APM AND NO LOUD MUSIC WARNING WORKING, I'LL UPLOAD THOSE IN A SEPARATE ZIP LATER...ON A CLEAN INSTALL I HAD TO SET THE APN, OTHERWISE EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE IN WORKING ORDER. NOT ALL THE EDGE FEATURES WORK, OBVIOUSLY THEY DO HAVE DIFFERENT SCREENS. THE CONTACTS DO WORK THOUGH.

Wrong section?
Edit: I'm an idiot, flashed it. Works nicely.

HAHA, yea it's for us. I was hoping for more functionality out of the edge features, I haven't really got to mess with it though. Seems like only the contacts works. No FC's or anything though.
Deodexed is a stock rom right? Thanks

You're all over the place @mikeyinid! Loving the contributions you have made
Thanks! Awesome work. Nice to finally have a rom we can flash.

It's not, that won't be possible til kernel source drops for 5.1.1. I flashed the 5.1.1 update last night and didn't notice anything that stood out.

Fair enough. Mostly after the optimizations to memory management... The effects would probably be only noticed after running it for a few hours

Well, it'll be for this ROM, til I have a chance to add it to the other. I'll post a flashable zip later with all the mods.

Thanks again for this - flash is just completing - and so far so good -
I wonder if you can tell me which features from the EDGE that you included?
By the way - FIVE KIDS? Are you insane! I had two and thought that was more than enough?
Good luck with that - hope the ages are such that the older ones help without putting the younger ones lives in danger - LOL

Downloading will flash shortly -by the way - I don't see 3 minit in the Edge Deodxed roms - I flashed it - all is good -but no 3 minit - do I need to do something to get it working?
EDIT - FLASHED and BOOTED - and there it is! 3 minit battery working - (AWESOME - thank you) and am exploring to see what other special features there might be
Once more = THANKS!
I noticed that KTweaker Ap was not installed witth the rom - was there a reason it was left off? I can grab it from the Ktweaker Kernel zip and flash seperately - but didnt know if you left it out for a reason.
Thank you for the Rom @mikeyinid, seems nice so far. Hey I'm getting a fingerprint sensor error. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks
