Whenever i try to change file permissions in any file browser on my ace after i apply them and grant access with superuser it just crashes and shows a screen that says the program has stopped unexpectedly.
I've already tried 'fix permissions' in the CWM Recovery but still no luck.
Anyone know a fix for this?
Im using the Miracle V4 custom rom

...is the file browser which fc? or which app?
If the app that you are changing the permissions is running, It's normal that It fc, so you can go to settings > apps and force close manually it before change their permissions, It should work
If you want to change permissions of apps as systemui, statusbar, phone, contacts, framework-res etc IT'S NORMAL THAT THEY FC BEACAUSE THEY ARE RUNNING CONSTANTLY, you'll need to do it via cwm

I tried posting this in the app and themes forum but had no luck, I have an issue with the Medscape app. I wasn't able to update the library so I uninstalled the app and manually deleted the library files from me Medscape folder, later I learned that the update problem was because of the adblock app. I solved that and tried to reinstall Medscape, so far so good. When I try to re install the library files, the app tells me theres no update available (???) and it shows the current files as if they are installed, but the folder is still deleted and when I try to look up something in the database, nothing comes up.
Is there a way to wipe completely the Medscape db registry so I can do clean install?
Thanks a lot

I had the exact same problem and I wasn't able to solve it... Only a factory reset did it...
I'm not root but if you are root go to /data folder and delete medscape info from that. I think it might work.
The problem is that you deleted the Mescape folder from your SD card but it contains a database file (maybe the index of articles) so anything you search returns nothing!
The solution would be to delete that old account information and data, and I think it resides in the /data folder but I can't confirm that because I'm not root.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. Nothing related to medscape on the /data folder. I'll keep looking or I'll clean install when I flash Gingerbread

Having similar Medscape problem, this time I cannot delete Medscape pics/icons in my Gallery. Practically FC's whenever I try to open.
These are .PNG files - is there a trick to delete these?
===
UPDATE: I discovered that I could delete one of the PNG pics in the Gallery folder but not delete a second one - the Gallery app would freeze. It actually required a power ON/OFF to "reset" the gallery folder (whose ("number of files") did show that the pic was indeed deleted) and permit me to delete another image. For some reason, as I was fiddling with the FILES app, a Medscape folder popped up (it hadn't appeared before) and it had hundreds of low-kb files in it, including the PNGs. Luckily I was able to delete this Medscape folder without a hitch... other than the 2 minutes it took to actually delete. And wouldn't you know it: my Epic is running faster than ever. What is in that Medscape app I wonder...

My issue is another,
I m using SG2 rooted, i removed my ad blocker and re install Medscape.
So i finaly managed to start instaling the resaurces .... the resaurces started from 1 of 24 ...and downloading ...
Is it logical to keep downloading ...after the 24 ... has been downloaded already?
for example 34 of 24 ...and keep going??
Hi!
I've a problem when trying to update my Medscape app. When I try to get ref updates, it suddently appears: "Not able to complete download at this time"
I've read this post , where they speak about ad blocking apps causing this problem, however I'm using cyanogenmod CM11 M12, without any apps of this kind, more over, I searched for Hosts file, and when I open it, there's only this line: "127.0.0.1 localhost". I don't know what else to do, I've tried unistalling the app, cleaning all data before so, In deed, I've also tried to do a clean install of CM11 M12, with no luck.
Wish you could help me!
Guys.. I am getting a problem now a days with fixing permissions.
On stock kernel using GDX ROM, I used to fix permissions via xRecovery
but after using custom kernel (Alfs) I am not able to fix permissions as there in no option of fixing permission in CWM Recovery and xRecovery not accessible.
Is there any other tool that can be used to fix permission ?
Is there anyone who will help me...?
please guys do some reply.. My applications are not working without fix permission
If your phone can boot use console and:
su
fix_permissions
It takes 3 minutes on my phone.
If not, try entering by ADB, but i`m not tried that...

I have several applications which I used to put in /system/app
and select permissions like other applications in that folder
After that i need to enter xRecovery and perform fix applications.
BTW applications are
1. Launcher pro plus .
2. Passion quick office.
3. SEMC DESKCLOCK.
4. All google app update like youtube, google voice, voice search, gmail, google+ and also facebook
I don't like these applications in data folder as they eat phone memory . I used to simply put these files in system folder. All are useful for me.

For some apps its enough but not for all like quick office and LPP and sometime SEMCHOME.apk that I have moded for my personal use.
EDIT:
@rav3n_pl
Your suggestion now worked for me after clearing delvik cache.
I figured out the UID issue.
You must have a file browser capable of root permissions or know how to use the terminal
Go to /data/system and look for uiderrors.txt
open it and take note of all the files listed in there.
Go into /data/data/ and remove those folders.
Reinstall the apps that were in conflict and everything should be good
The same fix applies for error -24 from the play store when installing apps. The only difference is that the uiderrors.txt will not have the offending files listed. You will need to know the application package name i.e. com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer

I believe it is being caused by HTC backup restoring app data. You should be able to remove the folder with root explorer as that's what I used.
Sent from my m7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
You can easily remove that folder when ur using TWRP recovery. In advanced menu is a file explorer. After deleting the folder you can install e.g. quadrant again via playstore
I rooted with kingo and installed Urdriod version 2 via safestrap version 3.75. Then installed Titanium backup pro. Problem is Titanium doesn't work anymore. All the options are not there. It is saying current backup location is inaccessible.
I then noticed that many of my applications that work in conjunction with the sd card do not work. Youtube is broken on 4G. Evernote is broken. Many of my games are broke as well.
I then did a clean install of another Rom Dynamic Kat. It didn't fix anything.
Any suggestions?
Install xposed framework and this module.

You shouldn't need the zip did you try installing the apk?
It looks like its installed with the rom but not active. I cannot activate it and i cant seem to get the module to work either. I tried the apk but it just says that i already have it and it wont install.
Phone is alot less useful if it cant interact with the sd card. Is there another way to get this going or to get the phone to read the sd?
Is superuser installed and working?
yes it is. I don't believe it's that.

What error message are you getting when you try to install the framework from the xposed installer app? You might also try uninstalling the xposed installer app then installing the version from the download link
Here is exactly what the message says:
SDcard:/storage/emulated/0/android/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/files
Copying Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip
Could not extract Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip
I know the copy I have isn't working but if I erase it I might never even get a copy on. But the copy I have won't even install or update.

Looks like this came up in the xposed forum here
Sounds like the xposed updater app extracts a backup to the external sd card during installation...which you can't access, hence the error. The consensus seems to be to install this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=en to fix the folder permissions then xposed should install properly.
Well I think installing FolderMount did the trick. after i put it on the phone it detected a script error and asked if i wanted to fix it.i agreed and it rebooted and that did it! Thanks everyone!!!!!
Hello,
Something goes wrong at my ROM. I installed an app to fix the writepermission. It works, all things fine. But then I played with some apps to customize my ROM and suddenly an freeze and then an reboot. After this my es Explorer tells me "path not found". The sdcard symlink goes to /mnt/media_rw/sdcard1/. The other path to access the sdcard are /sdcard1/ /storage/sdcard1/
This works but not the symlink. I can also access the sdcard with Apps like Google+, picture Album or other. Only the Explorer won't work.
I try to change the /system/etc/permission/platform.xml but won't work. (I copied the stock file from the rom zip)
Can anyone help me to fix this? I don't want reflash the rom. I'm at Holiday and no wifi to update all the apps again. [emoji33]
Thanks
Greets Lars
Start your phone without sdcard, then put it back. See if this works. Try uninstalling the apps that messed your phone.
Nothing works. I make an Backup of my Apps and data and make an reinstall. Problem solved.
