I bought the Platinum Case when getting my Nexus-S at Best Buy Mobile yesterday, hate to drop it on first week, and have a damaged nexy. After having it for a day, I was like man, this phone feels very crappy, quality wise, like loose and shaky.
So for the hell of it I took the case off. WOW !!! Very nice phone was hiding under all that plastics, the naked Nexus-S feels very solid and well put together. It was the case that made it feel ****ty.
I still have her in the case while working, will just take it off at night when at home. But would like an Otterbox "Impact" series, slim and tight rubber case. It's these 2 pc connected type cases that sound and feel loose and crappy.
I think gel cases are better for such phones.

Yeap I got it.
+1 for gel or silicone case. i have a black silicone zenus case on my vibrant and absolutely love it (and i've dropped my vibrant twice since owning it). I made the mistake of buying different cases (leather, rubberized crystal, etc) and never end up taking the zenus one off. and anything outside of a gel skin adds unflattering weight and thickness to these very sleek, thin phones. i emailed a zenus seller today to see if they were aware of any nexus s cases on the horizon.
I sent an email to Case-Mate to see if they'll be making a case for the NS. Hopefully I get a response soon.
Im extremely picky with cases
highly recommend hybrid tpu case is great but not out for ns yet
adds little bulk

Well, I hope Best Buy gets some more cases since I just found out that I have a $20 rewards certificate issued the day before the Nexus S came out.

This is a great case. I have one of the hybrids, a plain TPU, and the TMo rubber case. I switch between them, but the hybrid is the best all-arounder.

I hope to hell someone makes a soft touch battery door for the NS. That would solve half the problem right there.

I second that
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I hate cases. To me, putting a case on a phone like this is like bringing home a beautiful, sexy woman and then putting a fat girl suit on her.
I just returned mine as well. That case was not worth anything near 35 dollars. I'm using my hacked up nexus one sleeve now and it works great.

I prefer it too, but theres those times where you get bumped on the streets walking while checking your phone (email, text, web) and it causes you to drop your phone.
I also see a lot of people referring to a "platinum case" from best buy... but im looking it over and unsure which one they are talking about bc both use the word platinum.
I like this one alot if only it wasnt purple.

If you carefully apply 4-5 thin coats of PlastiDip you can very easily make your own soft touch battery cover. I'll be posting photos later in another thread.

I'll edit the original post to include a direct link to the video.
If anyone can help me embed the video directly into the post, it would be most appreciated.

I don't get why anyone would get this... if you're going to get this thing just get the slightly better looking one right from Google Play. Even costs less.

The case sold on Google Play is completely different. It has a cover over the screen that you open like a book, and it's made out of TPU. The Incipio case is a hard case, with no cover on the front. The Play store also charges tax and shipping, so that $20 ends up costing $32.83. The Incipio case is only $24.99 on Amazon. Tax is about $2.37, and if you have Amazon Prime shipping is free. That comes out to $27.36, which is a better deal IF you are looking for a low profile hard case.

Hmmmm, yesterday they had the pink one and the black one listed. Today I can only find the pink, and it's temporarily out of stock. It did just come out, so I am assuming they are waiting for their stock.

seems like a pretty solid case that doesn't add too much thickness to the device. my only gripe is that it doesn't hug the borders enough, i mean if you were to drop it on a corner, it would still get damaged or scratched to some degree. please correct me if i am wrong on that
Not to threadcrap but for 25 bucks....doesn't seem worth it. A tpu case that's 4 bucks shipped seems to be on par with this case

Have you purchased both so that you have an actual comparison, or are you just assuming?
TPU cases add much more bulk than a slim hard plastic case. Just look at the pictures for a TPU case. You can see by looking at the cutouts for the buttons and speakers that there is considerable bulk added. The Incipio Feather case is much thinner. Similar to the Poetic Element case, which is also a slim fitting hard plastic case.

yes, but how does this compared to other hard shell cases from ebay for less than half the cost?
i've purchased hard cases from ebay before for phones and 'brand name' hard cases, there doesn't seem to be much difference...

I completely agree with that. I usually buy cheapos on ebay, too. But, I haven't seen many hard plastic cases for the N7. Just lots of TPU's. I actually went with the Poetic Element case for $15 shipped.
Has anyone tried these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-Alumi...469?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23236c2d8d
They are available in various colours on eBay. All about US$35.
A bit expensive but if they fit well they would be ideal for me. The device is big enough that I am looking for something that provides protection without adding much bulk. This seems to fit the bill.
Tried something similar today; however I couldn't plug my headphones in afterwards so I didn't get it.

I am looking for a bumper case myself for the GNII that i'm gonna get in a few weeks, but i'd rather have a rubberized one than a metal one. I wouldn't want it to scratch the phone, and I think a rubber one would protect the phone better if it were to drop.

I had something similar for the N7000. made the phone seem way too bulky and somewhat ugly. wasn't my taste
I'll be picking up a Note II on AT&T on the 9th and I'd rather not end up spending $60 on a sub-par case and screen protector at the AT&T store like I did last time with my original AT&T Note. So I'm going to buy them off the internet before hand. Any suggestions for a cheap silicone case I could pick up on eBay that won't scratch it? or some cheap matte screen protectors? Thanks.

Amazon.com. Spigen Ultraclear protector. I've seen a couple nice cases on eBay. I purchased one of the hard minimalist cases, but there are some nice TPU units as well.

Silicone cases are useless. These get saggy and for a phone this size and this thin; I'm pretty sure the case will just dongle all over the place and will not stay on... Your best bet is TPU, which is what you are calling semi-hard.
And to the OP. You can go cheap on cases, but I don't recommend going stingy on the screen protector. The poster recommending Spigen is your best option. I have the clear crystal one from Amazon; they are not cheap but you get two that will probably last as long as you'll own the phone.

I currently have this one, and am fairly happy with it. The only issue I have so far is that the opening for the charger/usb port is rather small - the factory usb cable fits OK, but most other cables don't.

There was a thread the other day about artek giving free cases so they could get reviews for it, i have been using it for about a week and here's my review:
I recently bought a note 8 so i was looking for different cases, this is one of them.
It is made of real leather so that's always a plus. Now i almost all the time prefer minimalist cases because last couple of samsung phones are just so darn pretty and i like to show it off but this time i wanted to try something different.
It's a case i won't be using everyday because of the same thing but i have been using it for the last week an do far i like most of it specially the attention to detail and that it covers the screen as well.
I have tried wireless charging and yes it works, i'm guessing it will work with some chargers and not with others, the one i'm using has 2 coils i don't know if that has anything to do.
PROS:
+ Real Leather
+ Decent protection for the phone
+ PURDY
+ When using this there's no need to carry a wallet anymore since you can put your cards and some cash in there.
+ Perfect fit.
CONS:
- Using the fingerprint was hard enough with Samsung's fingerprint location, with this case it's even harder.
- Screen doesn't turn on automatically when opening case.
- Bulky, won't be comfortable if you are wearing skinny jeans.
At the end, i would say its a good purchase.
If you want to try it out here's the amazon link: http://a.co/8H3t90C
