Is there anyway we can receive files on Nook HD+ via Bluetooth from phone or PC or any app can be installed that could allow this?

so this cannot happen with the stock ROM on Nook HD+ ?
Try ES File Explorer, it can do Bluetooth file xfer and you could download and install it on Stock from Google Play.
can I connect Bluetooth speakers to Nook HD+?

Hi Sherip. Have you tried this on Nook Tablet. If you had please can you help me figure out how to make it happen further. Since I installed ES File Explore and when I toggle it to display Bluetooth Folder; It returns with the error saying that the bluetooth folder is set hidden change it from the settings. And in settings I found no such option to enable it. Thanks.

I didint tried but I think we can do. Else, for what the Nooks Bluetooth is meant for since it doesnt allows transfer or exchange of files. So surely meant to connect other Bluetooth Devices.
I could be wrong but from what verygreen wrote in my six axis ps3 thread, it would seem blue-toot is kinda broken in JB
for the time being.
Didn't think I could but I did it. I have an old Nook Color which doesn't include Bluetooth support, but has a Bluetooth chip with poor or no built in antenna. This NC is running CM 7.2 and has es file explorer installed. I booted my HD+ from an SD card that runs stock and also has es file explorer onboard. I opened es on both devices and set them side by side. On both I went to Bluetooth in es. On both I did a search and each offered to make itself discoverable. On the HD+ I touched NookColor. Was prompted on both to pair. Did it. Then I saw a file listing of the NC on the HD+. Selected a file and did a copy-to the local download dir. It was slow, but it worked. I also had set the NC not to sleep because a previous attempt failed to complete a file xfer.
Edit: For file xfer with PCs, regular wireless is much faster. just need to be running a network and have some shared folders on the PCs. Depending on windows version and network options you can access the PCs anonymously or after providing a valid Windows user ID and password for the PC in ES file explorer.

I loaded up HCv04 to my SD card and then installed ADB to run a script to put Gapps on to my nook.
Since then, it doesnt show in windows explorer to allow me to load on music and movies.
I have no plugged it into my work computer to do said task and it doesnt show up there either.
Im sure this is a stupidly basic little thing to sort out but can you guys help me out with this.
cheers
USB ADB is pretty hit or miss from what I've read and experienced. If you've got the google market, get ADB Wireless. That way you use wifi instead of USB, it works great and unlike USB on the nook no more headaches.
Im wondering about how I can get access through windows back to my nook emmc and sd card space to add things to them.
Since ADB, its invisible.

Use a file explorer (astro, es, root) found on market. Browse to sdcard and open apk file. See apk thread for more info.

I am having a problem with the Nook app on CM7 (using the 4th nightly and the OC kernel.)
Doing some quick searching and extensive looking hasn't yielded any results directly related to the following issue.
When looking in my library, if I try to download a book it just says "No such file or directory" and my other books that are on my SD card don't show up/can't open them with the app (No Application Found).
So, just wondering if anyone else has got this working, I would really like to use this as an e-reader.
Thanks

yes, it does work when downloading books. make sure you follow it exactly.
you have to set the EXTERNAL_STORAGE value to /sdcard like it says and NOT /mnt/sdcard

I did change that but I didnt notice that I had to type out adb shell before typing su for the apk. I get permission denied, does that mean I missed something while rooting my nook?
Edit:
NM adb shell works, just didnt work from terminal emulator. Anyways tried everything from adb and a computer and still no dice. I have no clue why this is not working. The books in my files dont have the cover and when I click on it it looks like it will load then just goes back to my files again.
NM, it seems that the books that were already in my library from when I had the regular nook OS was giving me issues. I went to shop for a new free book to see what happened and it downloaded and worked. So I did it right from the beginning but kept trying the same 2 stupid books. lol Thanks
I'm not sure what's going on here.
I tried following through with the directions posted in the link. But my adb shell seems to be repeating whatever I type after I press enter. It doesn't seem to be working.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I'm using phiremod.
Okay, so I found something... I think.
I did export EXTERNAL_STORAGE /sdcard
and I got
export: /sdcard: bad variable name
Any suggestions?
WORKING Nook ereader app on Nook Color running CM7 from sd card
I wanted to be able to have access to 2 barnes and noble libraries on the same device. I looked around and this is what I came up with. You don't need to do any really tricky or invasive mods and it works great. I'm mostly a moron so I wrote this for people who are like me, please don't be offended if you have to say "well duh" alot.
I would read the notes at the bottom of the post after you read this.
1. I prepared a CM7 sd card with google apps!!! using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
***(I used the stable CM-7.1.0-RC-1-encore-signed version + current gapps, but it should work with any current CM7 nightly)
2. I powered down my nook completely, inserted the CM7 sd card, powered it back up, and let the CM7 installer routine run. The installer shuts the nook off when complete, then I rebooted into CM7. After registering to my google acct and getting to the home screen, I clicked on the icon in the bottom left corner (3 little horizontal lines) and selected Settings>Applications>Unknown sources...check that box.
3. Opened the Market app. Searched for "appinstaller" and installed AppInstaller by FunTrigger. Then I completely powered down my nook and removed the CM7 sd card.
4. Then I downloaded an older version of the Nook ereader app (ver 2.5) and put it somewhere in my filesystem that was easy to locate (you will be locating it from linux) from here:
http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/app/nook
5. Then on a PC running Linux (ubuntu 11), I plugged the sd card I put CM7 on into my computer. In linux you can see all the partitions...in windows all you can see is boot. I opened the "CM7 SD CARD" partition, and I put the nook.apk file I downloaded from freewarelovers right in there.
6. I reinserted the CM7 sd card into my nook and booted it back up. I went to applications, ran AppInstaller and clicked on the "nook.apk" icon and installed it. Registered my B&N account normally and populated my library.
Notes:
* DO NOT add the nook.apk into the native OS. This is only for CM7. If you try to add this app to an OS with the native nook reader working (unrooted/nootered) the device gets stuck in a boot loop which you will have to use CWM or 8 fail boots to recover from.
* I bear no responsibility for any damage you may do to your device by using this method. That said, it is almost impossible to brick a nook color, especially using a sideload OS. If you think you did just look around the forums, there is lots of information on how to unbrick a nook color.
* If you do not have Linux running on anything to read the CM7 partitions, you can google "reading ext4 filesystems in Windows" and figure out how to do that. Mac is Unix based, so maybe you could use a mac and just hope no one finds out. I highly suggest you just make a live CD by following the directions here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD
* Incidentally, you can use this method for sideloading any apps into your sd-based CM7 environment.
Why would you need to sideload the Nook app? Is it hiding in the market these days??
No it's there but you can't download it. Either says invalid device or it won't give you the option to install at all.
EDIT: I updated to a current nightly and it allowed me to download the ver 2.6 Nook reader, but the sign in screen is garbled and it won't communicate with the B&N servers. Had a similar issue with Netflix, which I also sideloaded an older version of and works well.
@ mastigia.
Firstly, very appreciate your effort and post instructions for others.
Secondly, why would you want to go with that route?
At least, there are 2 options installing Nook App with ease.
a. Download and install directly from Market. (see note 1)
b. If for sideloading, just use usb cable to tranfer the .apk over, no need to remove the uSD then insert into Linux just to copy the file.
Note 1: If you can't see Nook App on the Market, then fix your Market first.
Note 2: another option (would be 3rd) is using ADB (either over USB or wireless to push file over)
why oh why

Ok...
a. I CAN see the app on the market. The app currently available is ver 2.7 which from the previous build of CM7 I was using had "Incompatible Device" where the "Install" button would normally be. So, I updated to CM7 nightly 209 thinking I was an idiot. And hey, whaddya know, that made it possible for me to install the 2.7 reader from the market. But it was garbled and would not communicate with the B&N servers and caused me some really crappy synching issues later which I won't go into here.
b. This is just for getting the nook.apk onto CM7 loaded on an sd card. The prob with just moving the file over usb is that windows (which I started off using) will only pick up my native emmc because the sd card partition I want to move the .apk to is in an ext4 partition. Using adb wireless I was unable to find the mount point, once again probably for the same reason.
So, to clean that up I would say just plug your nook into linux and move the file over usb and that would probably work and thanks for the suggestion, I just did not think of that.
Ya know this is kind of a silly and unique issue. I got my gf a nook color, she wants her own library and an unrooted nook (warranty). She also wants access to MY library (which has alot of books she would like to read) and apps like netflix (which also requires a legacy version). Books are the primary reason we got nooks. So for someone like ME, thats the post I would need.

leapinlar - Thank you.
Thank you again. I've been working with PC's since the DOS days, but I'm not a programmer. My first exposure to ADB was when I rooted the original Nook. ADB drivers and device connectivity takes a bit of trial and error. Your excellent zip file work avoids all this. Your gapps/playstore/extras zip file was just want I needed in order to install applications from external sources on my Nook HD+ running 2.1.0. I can now install apps from the Amazon Appstore and sideload apps from apk files (SiriusXM was the first). Keep up the good work (modest donation made).
I officially feel like my Nook 9 is perfect. I can now use the stock interface, since I can now load all of my widgets and app shortcuts on the home screen without having to go through the extras menu. I now have Amazon Kindle and Music, Google Play, Music, Mail, etc and I still get all of the benefits of the Nook itself.
The only thing is that I feel like the Amazon App store has been killing my battery. Otherwise this was a welcome, unexpected update.

Hello leapinlar,
On your HD/HD+ CWM thread, you say that you don't need to have an SD card to to enable unknown sources, but you can download the Extras zip file to the internal memory and I can install the file that way. Is that correct. I'm hoping so because I don't have an SD card on me right now.
P.S. I'm a newbie to all of this, so I'd really appreciate your help. I don't want to root my NOOK HD+, i just want to allow unknown sources!

disable unknown sources?
I recently flashed my HD+ back to stock (had gotten some sort of malware on there I think) and added the Extras zip. Works perfectly (thanks leapinlar!), but I've got a dumb question – is there a way to go back and disable “unknown sources”? I'd like to be able to turn it on and off when needed within the settings or somewhere for some extra piece of mind security-wise. I occasionally use the amazon app store or sideload something, but not all that often.
Thanks again,

Not without being rooted. If you are rooted you can use SQLite Editor to manually edit the database, but there is no other way. I would not worry about it. I would worry more about root reseting you than the security issue of having unknown sources activated.

The tablet is for my Mother who's not at all tech savvy - if it were mine I'd be running a custom ROM on it by now - so I need it to be straight forward just in case there are any issues with the tablet.

Hello guys from xda-developers.com, I desperately need your help. I just got a new Nook HD+ and I live in a country where is very difficult to access to the internet by anyway. So, I can’t register the HD+ to Barnes&Noble site, nor purchase apps or get the HD+ working on.
I just want to use the Nook as a no-wifi stand-alone device for reading, watching movies, gaming, and using apps like calendar, calculator, alarm clock and so on by finding a safe way for sideloading apps and files locally from my computer to it. How I should do this and get the Nook HD+ completely useful? Now the Nook is in test mode, skipping first registration screen with OOBE procedure after a factory reset. I need detailed step-by-step instructions.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Sorry if that is a silly question but I am new to tablets world and I feel like a deer in the headlights (your saying) or like a cow at the movies (our saying). Greetings from Cuba.

Not sure what you mean, run your own apps. You mean after you installed them, finding them to run? There are two ways.
Sideloaded apps do not show in the stock app drawer. But you can open another screen that does show them. Go to apps and hold your finger on the apps title bar and push the volume up button. An new screen called extras shows. Your apps will be there.
Another way is to sideload an alternate launcher like zeam. Then when you hit the n key it gives you the option of using it by default instead of the stock launcher. Do it. Your sideloaded apps show there.

I meant: I want to run the .apk files I have on the external SD card which were copied on it by attaching the SD card reader to my PC. Explain me how to get those apps running or link to some tutorial. Thanks.

That is what I meant when I said you would have a challenge doing it without internet.
The problem is those apk files must be installed before they can be run. The normal way to install them after you flashed my zip is to open the apk with a file manager. When you do, a dialog box opens asking if you want to install. Easy enough.
But stock has no file manager to open the apks with. So you have to get one somehow. If you have no internet and no ability to run a store, there is no way to get one. You might try the 'files' function in stock to do it.
Edit: Actually I figured it out for you.
1. Find an apk for a file manager, like root browser, es file manager or other.
2. Copy that apk to your internal sd using your USB cable attached to your PC.
3. Open chrome with your app drawer.
4. In the chrome address bar type the following:
file:///sdcard/nameofapk.apk
5. Hit enter
6. It will ask if you want to keep it, say yes.
7. When it is finished downloading, click on the little down arrow in the top middle of the screen. It will ask if you want to complete the action using two choices. Select package installer.
It will install the apk, hopefully your file manager. Now do the first (extras) method I showed you in my other post to find the app. Then use the file manager to open more apks and install them.

I see I misused “run” for “sideloading.
Before trying that for sideloading a file manager tell me if there is another way to show the “extras” screen as it is difficult to get it show by pushing down volume up button and taping on App’s bar name. It not always work.
And why, if I see the Zem Launcher icon on Settings, Applications, My Apps, as installed, it doesn’t ask for choices when I push down “N” nook button.
Hope to make myself understood.

Yes, that extras screen is hard to activate.
But I have a fix for you. Go to settings and uninstall zeam. Then flash this file:
http://d-h.st/S0c
It is my old "extras" file (not related to the extras screen I was talking about earlier). It will re-install zeam and add root browser, which will let you install apks directly. And now when you do the n, it should give you the default choice.

I flashed the file and reinstalled zeam launcher plus root browser and could sideload the ES File Manager from external SD card but still have to active the "extras" screen to reach to it. Nook buttom doesn’t give options. When pushed down, it takes me immediately to nook side. Movies are not played back either. Is there a way to change completely the Nook system to convert it into a more friendly android tablet?

Yes. But I recommend making the CWM SD using my new procedure in my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature. Follow item 1a, then do everything else per that thread you quoted.

So, all I have to do is to add the CM10.1 install file to the sd card I have been using until now to flash files, right?
Which CM10.1 install file do you recommend I should use from this link:

The CM10.1.3. And yes, you can use that same SD to flash it. If you want to use Play Store, you also need to flash the gapps zip. Gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip from goo.im.

I bought 2 nook HDs. They have been running perfectly on the stock rom.
I have updated them to CM 10.1, and everything works fine, except they cannot connect to wireless at the same time!
I checked and they have the same MAC address. It might be because I used backup and restore to clone the ROM to each other and it might have cloned the MAC address. Or something else, I don't know.
Is this a known problem? Is there any way to fix it?
While searching for it, just found out that leapinlar already gave you instructions.

Yes, for the reference I post it here as well.
"Go to /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity and delete the wl1271-nvs.bin file on the system you copied the backup TO. Then reboot and that file will get rebuilt to have the right MAC Address."
