I really need some serious help, My phone battery died earlier on today and after I charged it again Android would not decrypt my phone as it says my password is incorrect.
I know for a fact that it is the correct password as I had saved it in my Password manager and have used it many times before.
I found Frost(Forensic Recovery Of Scrambled Telephones) and have seen that there is an option to decrypt the phone. But I really need some help to get it working on a HTC one.
I really need some data of my phone, and cannot factory reset it yet.
Frost can be found here: https://www1.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/frost
But I can only see a Galaxy Nexus version. Has anybody got a version I can use for the HTC one so I could possibly recover some of the most important files?
I really need help on this one guys....
(edit)
The source code is available for it.
I forgot to mention I can't compile it because I have no expiriance in Kernal compilation ;(

No problem, I don't even know if this is the correct section to ask this question in. But I just really hope someone can help me out on this.
I'm even willing to pay some money for someone to compile it for me when I get my wages.
Again this is a real emergancy
After trying my password about a gazillion times it eventualy worked.
Very strange. I have removed the encryption now

Here's the story. I upgraded to the new HTC ROM via the download from their website. I performed a Sprite backup prior to doing this and then restored after it was complete. Upon restoring and restarting it prompted me for my usual pin password (required by my company when we setup push email). I entered it in and...Incorrect password. Tried again...incorrect password. Tried anything else I could think of and...incorrect password. Nothing seems to work. Does it revert to some sort of default? Or am I SOL and need to hard reset and start from scratch?
Thanks...

Did you check my site? I have quite a few of the "untouched" roms there.

Problem Solved haha! After you update the ROM, actually setup a PIN password (what it was before). Then, when you do the Sprite backup it will all work just fine. Only issue I had was getting my theme to work but it's all good now!

your sig doesn't really tell me much what to expect on your site. i just see "check out my **** face" or something like that on the button/banner. your sig should include what to expect on your site.
Everybody pretty much knows his and atw's sigs link to a couple of the most useful ftps out there, and on the FAQ you can clearly see they're both linked to FTPs
Hi,
what options did you use for the restore(after upgrading to 6.1):
corrupted registry controls?(checked?)
merge/replace ?
merging or fusion(translated from french) Level 1/2/3 ?
restore databases?

I recently purchased a nexus 6 off ebay, likely a mistake, and now that I try to run the setup i can't because i'm not the original account on the phone. Is there anything I can do to get past this step, remove the old user account and add myself to the phone? I know the security measure was put in for a reason, but it definitely makes it hard when someone like me gets the phone and is now stuck with a good looking paperweight. I have tried contacting the seller and getting them to provide me with their info for the purposes of setting it up but they are reluctant to offer that up. Unsurprisingly.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

I'm sorry but the only way is with that password. This is fault of the seller, they did a factory reset without removing their Google account. If the seller won't help you, contact eBay resolution center.
@fkoulbot,
Unfortunately, plenty of threads here with the same situation.
What @Evolution_Freak said, or open a PayPal claim. Device "Significantly Not As Described". You'll get your money back.
Or, just post it back to him at his expense, and get him to do it properly.
"Hi,
I understand that you feel uncomfortable giving me your Google password. Since the phone is unusable without it, I will have to consider opening a paypal dispute.
To avoid this however, if you offered to cover the cost of 2 way postage of the device (+insurance), I could send the device to you to log into and remove your account properly before resetting and returning to me."

Hey, buddy. I had the same thing happen to me on Swappa. Fortunately the guy was willing to give me his password... BUT in the 2 hours it took him to respond to my dilemma, I had already found a way around it. (Take note that my bootloader was already unlocked when I received the device.) Here's what I did.....
I tried flashing a couple different ROMs to no avail.
Then I realized it was because I was flashing 5.1 ROMs.
So, I found a 5.0.1 ROM that doesn't have the reactivation built in, flashed it, got it set up, then flashed a new 5.1 ROM. It worked for me but YMMV. I do believe having an unlocked bootloader in the first place helped. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for that info. I had actually received and tried that but because it wasn't unlocked i was stuck. I did get the login info but now worried that they somehow have access to the phone. I noticed the label of a "group" of apps on my home screen was randomly changed. I did DL an antivirus app and it found something but I'm still worried about the security of the phone. Do you happen to have any suggestion on the best thing i can do to absolutely clear any of the old account information etc?

First thing I would do is go into Settings -> Accounts and remove the Google account that it was originally linked on. Then add your own. Do a factory reset, and you should be fine. If you want to go the extra mile, set up the reactivation lock under your account. I do believe that should clear any permissions he may still have as they would be linked to his Google account.

Boot to bootloader.
Fastboot format userdata
(Note that this will wipe everything, including contents of SDcard.
I would lock then unlock bootloader which would wipe the phone and then go to google and download latest builds and flash the phone to factory stock. Boot in, if there isn't anything funky, then I would made a backup of the stock and flash custom ROMs from that point. I like to check first if it works bone stock wiped before tinkering. That way if anything is still wrong with it I know who's at fault.

Well, more likely if it's locked I would just unlock, but yes the act of flashing it to factory images will wipe in one go. Relocking and unlocking is redundant.
Guys does anyone confirm that is any way you can remove the Google Account Lock on Nexus 6 that the previous seller didn't remove the Goggle Account?
Thanks in advance!
Im having the same dang issue!! Hopefully I can get it flashed since sell won't give me password.
Hi everyone,
Just create this thread to let you know about the site easy-firmware.com.
Yesterday, I needed a RUU for my phone HTC Desire 820, I registered and paid 15 $. I downloaded different files (as shown on the site) but I got kind of 3 simillar files with the unable-to-extracted error. I'm really disappointed that I was cheated.
I don't want any of you guys to be trapped like me. Not sure if I'm the only one who is cheated. Anyway, be careful.
By the way, I have trouble with my HTC Desire 820n. If you guys have any experience with that, plz help me. No my phone don't have anything (OS, data,...) I tried to restore from some backup from this site but I didn't work because of process ended error 255. We can talk into details later if you want.
You are wrong I'm sorry
Can not extract ROM HTC
give me ur username and password to easyfirmware let me check it for you ok
I can no longer seem to be able to install custom roms, ive tried the resurrection remix rom and the cm13 rom but both are asking for a password after it installs and reboot(like when you encrypt the phone) so i cant access anything and my google password does nothing nor have i set another password
All i can do is the three finger recovery and reflash a full stock rom which does work.
I have checked the OEM unlock in developer options as well and full wiped before installing roms.
There shouldnt be any anti theft on the phone because afaik i have disabled all the anti theft options so there should be no reason why it asks for a password.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Does anyone know if doing a full factory reset through twrp instead of through the phone could be the reason why?
Good to see someone else is also having this ****ing stupid problem. I've been struggling with a way to fix this as well. I'm on the EVA-109 with a single SIM and its been giving me this problem no matter what I do. I read through one of posts on the CM 13 thread which stated you need to use Surdu's tweaked TWRP in order to not have the password booting problem. It'd be nice to get an official response from Surdu on this as he hasn't mentioned the need to use his version of TWRP.
Although, despite trying this I'm still having the password problem at boot but it might be worth a try if you do it. I'll pass you the link - Do let me know how it goes, though I wouldn't place all my faith in this. https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3493979
Hello XDAs,
After reading that Forum with much enthusiasm for a few...well...years, i got my first question.
I hope you can help me with a big problem on my g800f: I can´t register in network.
When I search for network it pops up a few results, but if choose one to register, it says "Can´t register. Try again later."
I did a few hours of research and found out it might have something to do with my IMEI (Note: till that day i did nothing to my phone, except cf-autoroot. But never faced any problems!).
So I checked my IMEI and it wasnt the original, it was changed to 350695200123951. So I googled a bit and realised it might have something to do with the efs-partition. Googled for solutions.
Found out it might help to flash a Stock-Rom, one with three parts, via odin so i did it. Everything worked fine, but my IMEI still was the different one.
I was a bit irritated so i searched for that IMEI. And there are a few threads (some in russian and arabian), also owners of a g800f, which also reported this problem: They did nothing, but sudddenly the IMEI changed to this number. One author tells he received a myserious call from the ukraine after this happened. He didnt answer it. I am quite sure i also received that call- I didnt answer it either.
So i googled even mre: "How to restore a damaged efs-partition, without backup?" I came to one very outdated guide which wanted me to delete the efs (after saving it on externalSD) and do a few mysetrious actions...
Well, i just realised i cant fully delete the efs, its not possible and i also cant apply my backup from external sd. Anyone knowing a solution for this?
But, the most important, how can i bring my g800f back into mobile network?
Or just: How can i get away from that cursed IMEI?
Any Ideas?
P.S. If you got any questions regarding technical details of my phone(CSC, AP, Kernel, Modems), just ask. I´ll answer.
P.P.S I´m excusing for that horrible english. I googled the entire night and i´m german.

I´ve just seen this problem being reported i a different thread. Guess the problem will be discussed there?
Hi All,
Did any one actually get a fix for this issue as I have exactly the same problem, my SM-G800F IMEI now also shows as - IMEI 350695200123951-01 which is for a blacklisted NOKIA 6310. If anyone can supply an absolute beginners guide for me as to how I can get my original Imei back that would be fantastic.
I am just a user of an android phone and have zilch experience of tinkering with them.
I have seen reference to things like Odin and flashing firmware and am quite happy to give it a go myself and learn
I will post this on a few other threads that list the same issue as I am desperate to get this fixed now as is a waste of a perfectly good phone !!
Cheers.
SM-G800F, can't register in network
Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. Since some month I got the message "can´t register in network". After checking all, I found that my SM-G800F IMEI has changed to a NOKIA 6300 IMEI.
If anyone knows a fix for this issue (set back to the orignal IMEI) , it would be great. All apps which I could find didn't work (XPOSED IMEI Changer Pro , Mobile Uncle Tools App, MTK Technikmodus... ), are not supporting S5mini.
I don't have a backup of the original system EFS file.
Would be great when one could help.
Regards
Chris
@S5miniChris somewhere in XDA I read that restoring the original stock (multiple part) firmware might or did help.
Gotta do it in Odin (recommended to use an older version like 3.09).

Thanks for your reply.
I have installed the original stock firmware. But it did not change the IMEI. Available for my model is only the single file " G800FXXU1CRG3_G800FDBT1CRE1_G800FXXU1CRG3_HOME.tar.md5"
Multible file firmware I couldn't find.
A manual modification of the IMEI should be possible with " Best smart Tolls " e.g. : BSTPRO 4.03 . But for the software a dongle is requiered. To purchase this is for one time use too expensive for me

Where from did you get the stock?
Samfirm_reborn tool already tried?
https://github.com/ivanmeler/SamFirm_Reborn/releases
Checking "binary nature" or "factory mode" downloads a multiple part rom.
Edit:
Checked tool and it's working.

I flashed now also with " binary nature " firmware downloaded with SamFim. The IMEI is still the same, it hasn't changed to the orginal IMEI.
I really can't believe that a firmware update will flash the E2PROM where the IMEI is stored. Therfor the orginal IMEI must be stocked some where
in the phone and by flashing transfered to the E2PROM.
