Well I finally bought the Streak docking station. I havent hooked it up to HDMI yet so I cant tell you about that yet.
What I can tell you is.. the plastic holder part.. The clear thing you insert, I dont know, I mean seems solid enough but I cant help but feel that it could break, I dont know. That and things make a odd sound when you jiggle the tablet while its docked.
Aside from that, GOD this dock is nice. I mean its angled just right for doing things, visibility is great! Good for video watching and so. Also playing finger based games like angry birds, this thing runs great. Also least it can charge separately from the usb connection to the PC. All I need to find now is a way to access my network files to play videos remotely and I am set. =D
I agree on the dock being nice. I bought two, one for in the office and the other at home. The dock mode of the streak can be a bit annoying at times especially when you lock the tablet with a pin. Posting via Galaxy S as waiting on replacement streak 7 from Dell. Still love the Streak though not working right now.

Btw I havent tested this part yet with HDMI, If you hook it up, do your games show up on the TV? Would be cool to have your emulators displaying on the TV. Heh.
Hmmm.... I think I might give the dock a try. I have a few extra HDMI cables laying around. I'll try it out and post what happens.
I've had the dock for about 2 weeks now. Works great, HDMI looks decent, not HD obviously, but it looks good and I am able to watch movies on my 56inch with no problems.... To me it was worth it, you can get them for cheap on ebay just to let everyone know.

Forgot to mention that everything DOES show up on your TV. I have been playing super mario world a couple nights a week now lol
How can I buy this dock in Vietnam???
I picked up one these docks on eBay for $50 w/ a OEM car charger.
Nice solid feel on the dock but sometimes I wish it had a mode where you could have a case on & have it nicely dock as well...
HDMI out is a nice +
I just wished it worked with Honeystreak. I hope dell releases honeycomb because I love using my doc to watch movies in the bedroom.
Hello
I'm new owner of Streak 7 - from Poland. I'm looking for one dock station for my S7 to be able to play hdmi on my tv. Problem is, that in Poland it's hard to get a dock.
Maybe anyone of you is about to sell one and could send it to Poland?
Thank you in advance

I would say check ebay. Most people ship everywhere.
Also yea, playing emulators works great on it. Also another perk.. if you use wiimote IME. You could have your streak docked, away from you and you can use the wii mote or classic controller to move the menu around too and open apps and so. Very handy.

I have had some strange issues with with getting HDMI working on various DJ Steve's build but I chalked that up just not be official?
I'm running

I think that is the latest...
anyone else having any issues? I'm sure the "offical" build will support it... I'm sure...
I'm running his HC build and it works fine for the most part. I can't get rid of the bottom status bar, and in comparison to my Logitech Revue, the Revue streams Amazon video much smoother and the PQ seems to be better as well. I'm usng the stock browser and I get a few video freezes where the sound keeps going, had some lip sync issues, and some other minor things. He Revue

Maybe. Tried Ebay or Amazon? Alot of people will ship worldwide.
what are some alternatives to the official dock like the g2 slacker? looking for something under $20 as both the official dock and the g2 dock go for at least 30 on ebay.
g2 slacker, while "looks" like same port, I doubt it is. Or would work. If you need a cheap alt,
http://www.amazon.com/Aftermarket-P..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334806828&sr=1-1
HOWEVER I should mention these docks DO NOT have hdmi! So they will charge, and seperate cable to sync. However.. a dell streak dock without hdmi.. seems silly..? I know for me.. hook to HDMI, Use BT keyboard/touchpad (and I can run dos!) or BT gamepad and I can run emulators. Thats nice on a TV. =)
The slacker dock only supports USB-IN, it doesnt support anything else on the S5/S7
Things missing from the slacker dock (that's available on the 2nd gen official dock):
Line-out
USB-in (ie OTG)
USB-high speed charing
HDMI-out
Dock sense (where the device automatically goes into clock mode)
The slacker dock has a headphone out, but the S5/S7 dont support it either (it may not have the pins for that, if it does it's different anyway). The slacker dock also has pads for USB-in, but that model was never officially made available(?).
Also I would STRONGLY recommend against a slacker dock for the S7 (if you can even find one), the S5 is a lot lighter then the S7.
The S7 barely fits on it, but it has absolutely no support besides the port itself.
The S5 already places all it's weight on the dock port, the S7 is asking to be broken by any accidentical impact.
If you are willing (or can find it at a reasonable price), I would strongly recommend the official 2nd gen dock for either the S5/S7.
It includes 2 backplates to support either model.
Also, the S5 dock in the previous link likely wont fit the S7, that's the reason the official dock comes with 2 backplates.
Your only real choice for the S7 is the official 2nd gen dock.
Oh fyi, amazon has it on sale right now for 30$ the official one.
Are we sure the Offical Dell Dock has OTG?! I can't find documentation on that AT ALL.
Got a NC for son and it's awesome on CM7 on eemc and OC at 1325 Mhz! Enjoyed it and the community and just ordered a refurb for myself (overstock.com $185 with coupon).
Then I saw Galaxy Tab 3g refurb for $270 and had some buyers remorse. Read some more reviews and comparisons, and tab usually comes out ahead (don't think their NC's are fully optimized to latest).
Can live w/o camera and GPS (have GPS tether). Get buy with soft buttons. NC has better screen (actually liking the dpi now after adjusting), better build and better dev I think (CM7 and such). My Sammy Epic's dev is limited by their touchwiz framework...
What would u say?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
the tab is a better tablet, BUT its not $100 better, if your spending the amount for a tab then spend a little more for a real tablet.
does the NC not do all that you wish?
Personally, no. Yes, the Tab has a better CPU/GPU, but not enough to sway me (my nook plays all my games quite well); like you I don't need the camera and GPS, so there is nothing else for me.
Now, if both tablets were the same price when i was shopping, the decision might have been different. But as it is now, i do not regret the nook one bit.
I was going to say "of course" because I thought by "New Galaxy Tab" you meant the new galaxy tab.
But - you mean the old galaxy tab. So, no, I wouldn't trade. I like the Nook build and screen better. Even though I nerd out on nightly builds and custom kernels and the like, I use my nook primarily as a reader with bonus features, and I really don't think it gets much better for my purposes.

I'm thinking that bluetooth is a bigger issue for me which is why I'm still on the fence about the NC vs other Tablets (including the Tab). I would like to watch movies/videos on the NC but the sound is so terrible that a BT headset or external BT speakers would satisfy me. I could never get the BT to work though. Thoughts on that?

Good pt about the speakers. I poot "nook tweaks" on my son's and the sound seems better. Haven't tried with headphones but it will prob be ok.
Check the dev thread... I think bluetooth is comming around. Not sure what capabilities are.
The week I was setting up my sons... I found myself using it a lot, instead of my phone... saving battery.
Question: what burns more phone battery, using it for surfing, or keeping the screen of with wifi tether on?
Question: I wonder if that Tab required some kind of Sprint activation? That's a deal killer when I have wifi-tether!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
I have both the NC and Galaxy Tab 7 (wifi) and am selling my galaxy tab...there is virtually no support for it (the wifi version) in any community, the bluetooth is so locked down that you can't do much more than a headset (no HID) and the interface looks pretty cartoonish in my opinion (along with no launchers working from the market). I know that there are 3 different versions of the Tab, so this is my experience with the wifi version, but I'm much happier with my nook. And with CM7.0.3 it's better than ever! The next version should be hitting soon, as the nightlys have reached right about 100, which should have a lot of upgrades.
As for bluetooth, I personally have no problem getting a headset to work (not the mic of course) in CM7 as long as you follow some of the "shortcuts" to get it to work.
Lol... No. Next upgrade will be a cheap tegra 2 (after prices drop during the holiday season) or a tegra 3 from Amazon ;p.
A big no. There are too many varieties and too few roms. There are more than one GSM version, more than one CDMA version and the wifi version doesn't even use the Tegra. I would be better to wait for the Amazon tablet.

Huh? BT has been working for some time now. I use a Jabra SP700 with my nook every day to and from work. The nook is mounted like a GPS on the windshield, and the SP700 is clipped to the sun visor. Range has not been an issue, and the sound quality is great (i use the SP700's FM transmitter, so i have the nook playing over the stereo.
nobody use headphones anymore?
I have a review unit for the (actual) new Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I still don't know if I'd replace my personal Nook color with it. It is very impressive spec wise and plays things great, but the Nook being at most half the price of the new Tab means the Nook is a great value for a basic tablet.

No, i am running on eMMC; and have been able to pair it since BT support came out. I am not sure what device you have specifically, but i know for sure others have used headsets with ease. I would try again..
I had some trouble getting BT to turn on when I was running CM7.0.3 from SD--sometimes I had to turn off Wi-Fi, reboot the NC, then turn on BT, then Wi-Fi, at which point they would play nice. Since I moved to eMMC (and have also been running the CM7.1beta + recent nightlies), BT has been flawless with no more jumping through hoops and reliable connections to my phone and wiimote.
As for the two different questions in the OP, would I trade my NC for the new Galaxy Tab? Probably, because I could sell the Galaxy Tab and buy a new NC and a new phone with the proceeds However, would I return a $185 NC and then buy a $270 Tab refurb? Probably not. My number one use for the NC is still as a reader, including comics, and you can't beat that screen.

Thanks for the feedback... I haven't tried installing eMMC so I may give that a shot. I listen to a lot of audiobooks WHILE I read or while I cook. The BT really will make this what I want.
As for the Tab vs NC - I like the way you put it. I think I'll stick with mine until the Asus Transformer has been around a bit longer.

Yes, I think 99% of the people here use it or apps like it. Overclocking to 1300 (and beyond for some- 1200 is most stable all around). The Nook tweaks app is more for customized stepping and more importantly, LOUDER sound. A huge complaint was that the speaker was way too quiet, with or without headphones. I can confirm this fixed that easily...and for free.
A rooter NC (stock rooted or CM7) is still hands down the best bang for your buck.
Nope. The only feature I would want is the webcam. With the 1200 MHz kernal 512 megs ram and cm7 nightlies, I cat imagine anything more fun. Cheap too!
Besides, I really don't like Samsung either. From what I've heard, they make Foxconn look like a day at the beach.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Bump.
I would like to know about this as well. Particularly if anyone has tried using it with cyanogenmod installed.
(Sorry if I'm not supposed to be posting in a dead thread. I Didn't want to make a new one when this one was already here. If it would be better to start a new thread I will gladly do so.)
Works on stock but not currently in cyanogenmod. As soon as you plug the device in on CM10 it reboots to stock.
Has this been tried with the native 10.1 install to the EMMC? I've been on the fence, as $40 is a big chunk of cash compared to the device cost...
Thanks for the reply. It's a shame it doesn't work as it seems this would be very nice for presentations and such.
Update
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to direct you to this post.
It seems we now have at least one confirmation of HDMI adapter working on the cm 10.1 emmc install. Sound seems to be a problem, but it should be a very simple matter of using a separate pair of speakers plugged into the headphone jack until that's worked out.

If you go into developer option (tap repeatly on the build info in about section) you can enable the show touch option. It will show a small opaque circle wherever you tap. I think this would be useful for presenting too since you can put your finger on the screen where you want the audience to see.

I completely forgot to see if the hdmi would work with cm10.1 this weekend, thanks for letting us know.
also cool tip for the show touch option.
Probably not any new news here - more an FYI.
I have a 32GB HD+ running stock 2.1.0 with leapinlar's Extras rev-3. I have successfully used the HDMI adapter with MX Player, XBMC, Amazon video (via Firefox and Flash Player), VUDU, and I also found that the HDMI adapter is another way to play streaming audio to my HT receiver -- definitely better than bluetooth. All these are with stereo/Dolby Surround over HDMI.
I used Handbrake to transcode about 30 mkv files and all of those are quite reasonable in size. So portable video is a go! I am also able to play the original 720p mkv files with MX Player and there are no problems there. I don't have any 1080p sources since I'm still waiting for my old CRT television to die. But, hey, holding out might be good fortune or a blessing-in-disguise with the advances now in video tech.
My only wish is that I could get Dolby Digital playback over HDMI. Seems to be a constraint of this hardware OR at least with the hardware I'm using. If Dolby Digital playback is different for anyone else I'd like to know.

Have you used the Nook w/ the HDMI connector much more? How do you feel about the Nook HD+ as a HTPC? It has bluetooth, so connecting a bluetooth mouse to it as a remote works, right?
Just wondering about other file formats (full 1080 mkv's and xvids), and the HD quality when using Netflix or Google video or Amazon video.
I recently purchased the HDTV Adapter Kit only to find out that it doesn't work. Is this a known issue with CM10.1 or do I possibly have a defective adapter?
Here's what I've been told.
The HDMI adapter works in Nook mode at this point in time, and it can be flaky.
Try turning it off, then plug in the adapter and make sure it's secure
If you're using Android it won't work.

This is another thread I started that has had no replies, so here goes.
"Hi guys,
Since N2A cards don't support either of these options, they said Android doesn't support the HDTV adapter, Bluetooth is flaky at best, and wait until the release of JB 4.3. OUCH!
Will side loading apps be a problem too, or will I be able to use the hardware if the app needs it, since the OS is still the same?
And isn't the HDTV adapter basically a driver issue in Android, which can be addressed with a update?
Any info would be great! "
That said, maybe it's because it's running off the sd card , and not rooted. I don't know.
As my HD+ is about 3 weeks old, I'm not sure if I want to void the warranty yet.
Let me know.

SHARKK Backlight BT 3.0
I use that keyboard that I got for Christmas this year. no issue pairing on CM 10.2 or CM 11. It has a multi-colored backlight that you can choose, dedicated media keys, brightness keys which are SUPER convenient, Screen lock key, etc. It's really thin and I haven't charged it since I got it (Jan 12th, late gift.) I really like it. The ONLY complaint I have is that the metal they chose for it's structure is soft and really flexible, so bending on it even slightly with through it out of alignment and then typing on it, it will click and clang around on the table or desk. requiring a readjustment to straighten it. a minor annoyance but still worth mentioning.
That sharkk one does look nice, but does anyone know of a keyboard that you can attach to the tablet somehow?
I really miss that feature from my TF700 (it was probably the only great aspect of it).

I just got a Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth Keyboard($47) and a cheap Hype Bluetooth Mouse ($14) for my HD+. Both work flawlessly. Don't go cheap on the keyboard. It's important for comfortable typing.

Have FAVI with laser pointer...... Nice, compact, easy to use and set up.... Comes with laser pointer(not why I bought). Using it is like typing on phone, battery life is longer then Nook so I just charge them both at same time.... Best feature is mouse pad on keyboard, did not think I would use it but it makes cutting and pasting very easy........
HD+ and MS Wedge keyboard
Mike, did you have to do anything special to get your Wedge keyboard to pair with your HD+, as my Wedge works perfectly with my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 phone, but won't pair with my HD+, running either the stock ROM or CM 10.2? Be great to hook them up and then add a mouse...
Regards, Jon.

I just picked up a Nook HD+ and a HP K4000 bluetooth keyboard.
The k4000 wouldn't pair with the Nook, but worked with all my other devices.
After an hour wasted with tech support from HP and B&N, google searches led me to forums that suggested downloading and installing
an app from the Google Play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teksoftco.android.blueinput&hl=en
It worked, but I'm not sure about the app.
Any other suggestions on another method, or google play app, that will make this work?
Thanks
That app is real iffy, unfortunately. The nook hd will work well with Bluetooth keyboards while on a stock rom, however the keyboard has to be android specific. Something about the way the Bluetooth is setup. If you root the device and put cyanogenmod rom on the nook hd, those restrictions no longer pose a problem, and any bluetooth keyboard will work
