[Q] Custom wallpaper for lockscreen - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening Xperia Z owners (and all others of course)!
For a few days I have gone back to Sony UI, from the Google Edition. But I have one problem, that is causing a lot of frustration.
I can't set one of my own pictures as lockscreen, without that it's being cropped down. I have tried with a ordinary picture, and I have tried to change the size of it, to 720x1280 using paint. But still when I set a picture, it want to crop it down, as my attatched picture show.
Is there any solution to this?
I'm running 4.2.2, leaked Honami ROM.
Cheers,
Jimmy

MV,
I cant help you with cropping and I have dealt with that to and cant stand the fact that we cant just use our pic as is.
I like the picture though......I just saw KISS in Victoria BC and my voice is still shot a week and a day later....wicked concert

Thanks! Yeah, it' bad that Sony has done this.
Off Topic: This wasn't the image I was trying to have as lockscreen, but it was a bit funnier than seeing three prog rockers Kiss had a good show, but I walked away after 40 minutes, can't stand them really...

This isnt sonys fault. Its androids bad thing. Make your pic 1080*1920 and you might solve the problem

AT&T Commercial - Brewer/Sales guy

Has anyone seen the new commercial from ATT with the 2 guys starting a brewery business? They show the tilt a few times.
I almost fell of my chair laughing when the guy took a picture with his "customer" in a bar. The lighting in the room would have made my phone cry for light. Obviously it was all superimposed but funny none the less.
yep i noticed that too.
youtube link?
The thing that boggles my mind is that the superimposed images of the text message kind of look like WM6.1 in an orange color.
Commercial is first link on this page: http://www.skyscraperbrewing.com/events/commercial.html
I love how they use a flash transition between the scene where the salesman is using the camera and next scene where the brewer is looking at the picture. As if to imply that the phone actually has a flash.
Yea I've seen the advert. I think that when he takes the picture with the phone facing the wrong way due to the fact thar there is no front camera

hahahah. yes i noticed that too, no front camera for crying out loud. how can they miss that. i guess it looks wierd if he was facing the camera the other way.

Camera Focus

Hi All
This may be a noob question, but ive noticed this with my camera. As you can see on image 1010, its focus is on the sky, but then if i move it a few degrees down (1011) its focus is on the man across from me. These images have done this without me touching to focus or anything.
Is there a way i can get my camera to take a decent shot of both the sky and whatever is infront of me? without having to compromise a certain part of the image.
I took a lot of photos twice today in order to get both parts of the photo in good focus.
Im using:
Stock camera app
Project X v4
There is no Q+A sectin, so ive posted this here, it can be deleted once ive figured out this little annoyance.
Any information regarding this, work arounds, or why it does it would be great. Also, is this the case on all roms?

i think its just autofocus that does it. you will realise once you move the phone it comes up with the focus square
But surely there's a way to make it so it doesn't block out a section of the image just because it feels like it ?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk 2
Pretty sire it can't focus on two things at once
The focus/lighting are related, so if you've focused on the man, the lighting will adjust so you can see the man and not the sky

[Q] front facing camera distortion

I just purchased my new HTC one and I love it, it's a remarkable phone. However I have found something that seems rather odd. When using the front facing camera, if you are not centered in the field of view, you are distorted and stretched out. This could be an effect of the wide angle lens, but I am not sure. I just want to be sure I do not have a defective unit and should try to return it. I have attached two pictures, one with myself in the center of the shot, and the other with myself in the bottom of the shot showing the distortion I am talking about.
Thanks for your help!

Brave man. Putting pictures of yourself on the internet (even in the name of science). Pretty soon there's going to be the evanogrady meme generator.
Anyway mine does the exact same thing. I'm just not as secure as you to prove it with pictures.

Mine does the same thing, seems like the nature of wide-angle lenses. You have to get it as far away from you as possible and aim it dead center...
LOL, I was considering not posting the pictures, but felt like it was necessary to properly explain my point haha.
& I'm glad it's not just my unit doing this, I was watching videos of the front facing camera online and none of them had the level of distortion that my camera is showing!
Maybe a test image of a square grid would be useful

Good idea! This is the best I could do, a little awkward trying to take the shot with the front!

[Q] Video/Zoe Sometimes Blue

Sometimes when I record, I'll get blue colors on the edges of my screen. Does anybody else get this problem? It sounds like a software issue, and that's what I hope it is.

i only notice it in less than ideal situations..Like something im filming is dark but there is light present on the edges behind me..Sometimes it's green too
i get this all the time..happens only on the edges of the pictures or video. i believe this might be only happening when you are taking pictures under those fluorescent light bulbs(energy savers) ..reason why i say this is because it only happens when I'm indoors and not using flash. does anyone know if this is a camera issue or is it just those damn light bulbs ???...my place is dimly lit with one light bulb...
I just want to be sure we're having the same problem. I attached some screenshots of what I'm talking about, and as you can see, Zoe has to be enabled. My take is Zoe does it because it's a "video."

Im willing to bet there is a computer monitor some where very close to you in this picture because that is when I noticed it as well...I lower manually the ISO to help eliminate too much unwanted noise.
EDIT: Deeerp just saw the keyboard in the 1st pic so obviously there is a monitor near by...I have had this happen out doors at night as well though..If you get away from the light source on the edges it should help.
There is, but it also happened in the hallway when I was messing around with Zoe.
Alright, just happy to hear it's a software issue . I was hoping I didn't have to return my phone...so much time spent into setting it up!

[Q] Blurry shots at night

Hey guys, I have problem with photos at night,or dark conditions. They all are blurry. I mean, I have Galaxy S4 ,S3 ,Note 2 and when is night, tap on the screen means, light on camera turn on and object at dark is focused. While HTC One cant do it. Tap on the screen at dark does nothing and photo is blurry. Is there any solution how can I do perfect photos like Galaxy series? I also tried Camera FX ,but its the same. Still cant focus with light
Maybe is user error. Simple as just not doing it right. If not we need more info than that... Like come on how can I help you when all you say is "I'm a newbz and mah camera won't focus"?
Give me rom, kernel, camera app settings and maybe someone would be nice enough to help you.

All stock, not rooted.
Lol, this is not only my problem, but every user of HTC One get this problem. Im asking for solution. Just try that. Try taking picture at night, when on One is only black screen. How can U make a photo, which is not blurry? Tapping on the screen to focus is useless, cause it cant focus.. Its weird and sad. If I could do same as on the Galaxy, tap on the screen uses light and that means it will focus on objects at night, so U have great picture. But One, which has better picture at night cause of ultrapixles, cant do that?
Enough to know whats the problem?

Stock 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 because there has been quite a few updates that increases camera performance. Maybe some pictures could help.
If you are properly focusing on something after pressing your finger on the screen it should say "AE and AF locked".

Yeah,if I tap on the screen,it says ae and af locked. But it doesnt solve the problem. Try it. U will have blurry photo too. It just cant focus at night
So, I found on the internet same issue..Everybody got this problem, I think all HTC devices, but lot of people dont know about it..There was no software update which repair this..One guy got third part app, which using light-torch ,so it can focus in dark too..But he said its bit laggy, not as HTC's camera app:-/ He also tried different ROMs, nothing works..Shame on HTC..Dont understand why they cant do it like Samsung..
me too am having the same problem. am using vipers 5.2.1 and night pictures are just bad even with the powerful dual flash on the sensation
