Good evening!
I have a Z without any protection film. I have noticed than in some angels or in direct contact with strong light i have TINY TINY scratches on my screen. So my question is: Is there any way of removing scratches from my device? Polish for.example?
Answers will me much appriciated !
Sorry for bad English ..
There should be a shatter proof screen protector already applied on. It came with the phone like that, so you most likely scratched that not the glass itself. Just remove that and apply a screen protector on.

Be aware, when removing factory foil,Sony logo removed as well...

No way to remove the scratches if they are on the shatter proof shield. It's made of plastic.
If you remove it, though, you will lose the Sony logo because it is printed on the plastic, rather than on the body of the phone.
I have removed the pre-applied protector from sony Its the glass itself that have tiny scratches ..

Do you still have the SONY logo at the front of your screen??
If you don't then: Well it's your own fault, you asked for it by not using a screen protector.
I don't think we're all on the same page. He could have removed the layer that came with it (with words on it like instructions) and then there's another layer that has the Sony logo.
Like what the above person said,
if you do not have a Sony logo at the front top then you scratched the glass.
If you have the Sony logo at the front top then you scratched the pre installed layer. (this one you can remove and install a new screen protector) if you choose to remove this layer, the Sony logo will be gone. And some say it will void your warranty.

Yeah mine came with both. I think everyone has them.
Some people removed them, but some people say they help with the strength of the glass.
I took my front one off because it got some marks on it... Seems fine without it.
I say: Leave them on until they get damaged (which seems quite easy)

Afaik the Sony logo is on the preinstalled shatterproof protectors and will disappear when removing the front one.
it seems, not only this protectors increases dust absorption and finger print but also is getting a feel of lost slip on screen when i want to sweep between the pages.i think is better to remove this shields if it is possible and dont injury knocks the screen
my q is why sony should be placed these protectors even with using drugonglass in z?!!!is this can a reason for worse viewing angle on xperia z?!!!

Then you're very lucky as the back of mine looks like a multicolored rainbow of oil slick after a few mins use.
Did you lose the Sony logo off the front? If you didn't you likely just removed the second screen protectors and left the shatter proof factory ones on.
Mines almost unusable now as the fingerprints are worse than any phone I've ever owned.
Viewing angles remain unchanged from removing the protectors, you shouldn't spread false info as there will be a lot of unhappy campers removing their protectors and seeing zero viewing angle difference.
I think you'd better not peel them off. These coverings are designed to prevent broken glass splinters hurting people, and hard and stuck very tight with special method in factory. It won't affect display I suppose, trust Sony. It's part of the device. Moreover, since it scratches easily, add one more film on it...
warranty
not sure if removing sony anti-shatter foils does also remove warranty...as you are given foils also in package, maybe read somewhere on XDA
I do not understand why people remove these...
- When NOT removed and If you drop the phone, it prevents the glass splinters from shattering all over the place.
- When removed Sony can no longer guarantee the phone to be water proof, as stated in another topic.
- When removed the phone attracts more fingerprints.
- When removed you lose the Sony logo on the front.
As far for these scratching a lot, I have not put on any extra screen protector and do not have a single scratch yet.
However I do use a leather case, always do that with all my phones.
Used Xperia Play for 2 years aprox, not a single scratch on the pre installed film.
Kind regards, Stefan.
The dragontrail glass is only for durability purposes! DO NOT remove the shatter proof sheet, it protects the screen from drop shocks so it doesn't get broken! Use the supplied screen protector and you will be fine! Unfortunately here in Greece it ships without screen protectors in the box and damn we got the highest price! (€699)

Hahaha it's hard to find something good.
Got another one: When you remove the protector, do you think that the glass will suddenly start leaking? I mean it's glass... the molecules of the glass are closer together then water.
Or if you want a simple answer: NO IT WILL NOT AFFECT THE DEVICE WATERPROOF ABILITY AT ALL!

Actually this is not a very apt comparison at all.
When removing the protector you *MAY* break the water tight seal the glass has with the midframe, the anti-shatter sheet is glued down with a pretty strong adhesive, force on the wrong angle will break the seal.
Short answer: It can if removed incorrectly.
May I also just ask how the screens use in wet weather will be effected. With the film on I seem able to use the screen accurately even with many droplets on screen.

That's not a problem at all.
The only problem is that the movie will most likely stop playing since drops will be registered as touches and then the screen will do crazy things when you have a lot of drops on the screen.
I use MX Player, it has an option to lock all the controls and even that gets bypassed sometimes by the drops.

But with the film on, the drops don't seem to count as touches. I'm not too bothered tbh, it's rare I want to use it with water on screen. When I get my replacement I'll probably remove it's protector

Is this a serious question?
WHY would you desire to remove the shatter proof coating in the first place. I may imagine doing so may affect your warranty? I doubt Sony would have added that addition if it was not needed?
Glass is impervious to water ingress.
Kind regards.

it's there to evade some dumbasses complaining about cutting fingers and ****, if somehow you break the screen. it won't make your screen stronger, only safer afterwards... so it's use comes in, only when you already broke the glass, and decide to play with it's screen

i was glad to remove the protector. BECAUSE the Sony logo is gone and the clarity of the display is better. Also, the fingerprints are easier to remove! It is stated in the manual that removing the protector is "ok".

Your son scratched a plastic surface.
Take it off, buy a screen protector, and replace.
The xperia z has a glued on anti shatter film that you can remove and replace with any screen protector of your choice. The only downside is that you lose the Sony logo

Yeah it's only the anti shatter film. But if you do remove it you will loose the Sony logo. Some people find that a plus. Also some reporting more responsive screen.

This. This is my guess. Sony doesn't have a history of cheating so I doubt that's the reason now.

In another forum, a guy said he was part of screen technology, which because it is thin, it would be impossible to press the Sony logo.
He had posted a picture explaining!
Yeah really hate the fact the Sony logo is pressed on the film. It's the only reason why I haven't removed mine. I have a hard enough time already telling which way is the right way up. Just hope we don't see another omnibalace design from Sony. The bottom bezel looks much bigger than it should be.
I prefer on screen buttons but I thought that was meant to help reduce the chassis. Maybe Sony was absent at that meeting because the Z is certainly taller than it needs to be.

If you look closer, you'll notice it has symmetrical proportions, so i guess sony guys had that on their minds... ZL is living prof that extra dimensions are here just cause pure esthetics. My only complain... they could have put larger battery also then...

Since Sony doesn't want people to remove the screen protector is there any type of anti fingerprint coding on it? I mean If I remove the screen protector will the screen be nice to use or will it just get all smudged in fingerprints that are impossible to remove?

No coating, just straight glass...but I'd recommend getting a matt finish (anti smudge) screen protector if u are going to remove.. Or unless ur screen is already scratched, simply apply it over the top of the factory one. Couldnt personally tell a difference in responsiveness by doing so.

Hello all,
there's been a lot of discussion about removing the protectors or not. I'm think about removing them and applying some good protectors on them.I know the SONY logo will come off, but i don't know if the back XPERIA logo will be removed, and if the other information near the bottom on the back side of the phone will be removed.
Does anyone have pictures of their phone with both the front and back cover removed? if the damn letters on the back near the bottom are removed i will definitely remove the back protector. i think it's really ugly to have a garbage bin with a cross on the phone.
Cant post pictures right now, but I can tell you that only SONY logo is removed with the anti-shatter film. Xperia logo and the other stuff are written on the back glass. You can use SEARCH field for more info.

yeah i read and saw a lot of pictures from the front, but none of the back (being) removed. I don't understand why they would print the SONY on the protector, and the back on the glass. i think it's a mayor turn-off to include all that jibberish on the back glass.
I Ordered this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39649654#post39649654
It's a mirror type protector / film.
It comes with if I'm no mistaken two for the front, and one for the back.
As almost all mirror films I've seen they totally ruin visibility, so I really only got it to cover up the back.
i will try the front aswell and take pics for those who might be interested in results.
I have not yet figured out what to do with the bottom.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi all, I have the xperia z in black, when I got it i was surpirised to see a small raised square on the rear of the phone with a "z" logo in it this is situated between the camera and the "xperia" logo on the rear glass.
