So, this is more like a general Android question rather than a specific Xperia Z thing, but since I'm always lurking this forum, I think it will be best posted here:
I have a Xperia Z, obviously, and a Sony Walkman Z, which I carry around as my mp3 player. It has Android ICS.
The thing is that I want to control at least the media player options from the Walkman from my Xperia Z, kinda like the way the Smartwatch is used to control Xperia devices.
Is that even viable? Via bluetooth or something?

I recently read over the net that SE guys have launched a new phone named SE Live Walkman. It supports Android 2.3 by default. As we say, STOCK ROM.
Can we port it to W8/X8. Its almost the same specs. Just the android version is different. Check it out here.
I am trying to discover whether the Z will have AVRCP 1.4 support, so that it will send music track metadata over the Bluetooth connection?
I asked Sony, but got this reply:
Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.
Thank you for your interest in the Sony Xperia Z.

Bought an Experia Z yesterday to try this out, on the basis that I can return it, if not happy. Very surprised that the Bluetooth Metadata does indeed display using the stock music app, Bluetoothed to my Nissan Leaf audio system. Remote controls work too. Tried the modified Spotify AVRCP app, but unfortunately no track information is displayed. Sony only confirmed AVRCP 1.0, but I think the music app has some extra functionality, so that it can work with the Sony Smartwatch, which does display track info!
HTC One Spotify Bluetooth Metadata works with Nissan Leaf
I have always been disappointed that Android doesn't natively support Bluetooth Data when streaming audio. I therefore tended to stick to Samsung, as they saw fit to include the facility in many of their phones. I just bought an HTC One with the intention of returning it, if I did not get track information sent to my Nissan Leaf car audio display. I am pleased to report that it does work quite well and I am currently using the modified Spotify XDA apk with quite reliable results. I deliberately haven't put any of my own music on the phone, so the car seems to launch Spotify as the default music player.
Hello xda!
I've had Xperia Z and Bluetooth MW1 a couple of months and it only shows "unknown - unknown" in the handsfree display even if title streaming is enabled in PowerAmp.
When i flashed it to CM10.1 it worked fine. But then I flashed to stock, and "unknown - unknown" appears again.
i decided to try ROMAUR, witch is based on a stock firmware and the same problem still exists.
Title streaming works with the original Walkman app. But even if I inactivate it or force a uninstall, it doesnt allow PowerAmp to stream any titles to Sony Smart Wireless Headset Pro (MW1).
Does anyone have any ideas why?
Best regards Trehjulingsleffe.

makes sure you have "smart connect" installed in the first place
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...NvbS5zb255ZXJpY3Nzb24uZXh0cmFzLmxpdmV3YXJlIl0.
once you pair it then
Did you install this app

other way it will not work

Yes. I've installed both apps above. Otherwise it wont work with walkman player either.
My old Xperia Arc can send Spotify and PowerAmp titles to MW1, but not Xperia Z. I guess it has something to do with Walkman. But i don't want to use Walkman when i bought PowerAmp witch is better by far.

Without installing anything it works fine with Walkman, but it doesn't work with PowerAmp. I emailed the development and no sound from them.

1)Well as long as I am aware poweramp does have not build in - avcrp 1.3. So that could be an issue
2)Sony makes a custom sound driver for the MW1. that is way the smart connect is build in.
3) by installing a cynonomod os you installing a standard drivers which have avcrp 1.3 build in standard version (without sony modification )

Hmm, you may be right on all three points. But isn't it possible to flash something in CWM or TWRP to override the Sony crappy thing? I'm not so good at how it works, and even worse to self make a zip file which could fix this problem.
I'm interested in how the stock equalizer is structured. I know it's not bound to Walkman, but there is no way to access it as a stand-alone app. At least that's what it looks like. So how does it work and what role does MusicFX play?
Sent from my Xperia Z
Hello guys, this isn't nothing new probably but I just found it. Many of you used Xperia phones before and all of you(just like me) loved Xperia launcher with it's goodies(especially Walkman with all the audio enhancements and tweaks). Here's good news: you can have it on Mate7! Stock music player is quite good but lack of equalizer and sound enhancements is unforgivable. There's ported app which actually works on Mate7(i am running it on newest lollipop b317):

Just follow the instruction and you'll be alright. Bootloader unlocked and root required
If you have root, Viper4AndroidFX is the best possible audio mod for the Mate. It works well with Poweamp. I was using the Sony music app in my THL but went back to Poweramp as the Sony random function wasn't so random. It was like using the same playlist all the time.
Viper sounds great in the Mate
