I have been given the Samsung keyboard and I'm trying to install it and it won't!
Can anyone give any clues as to why it is not installing??
I'm using [ROM][4.0.4] RemICS v1.1 (Team Remics).
Cheers,
AndyP85
Any ideas folks???
I too tried but was the same.
If you want then try putting it in system/app and reboot your phone.
How that works.
-----Sent using RemICS-i9000-----
How do I do that?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Use root browser and copy the apk
-----Sent using RemICS-i9000-----
Trying now
Nope didn't work
I think we can raise this in the remics thread and hope it will be fixed in next update.
-----Sent using RemICS-i9000-----
It's only the Samsung keyboard, so you would of thought that it would of worked.
Look forward to the update, any idea of eta?

Make sure you are rw in explorer, and you might need to delete the old Samsung keyboard if there is one in your ROM, and set permissions to match the other files in that folder, might need a reboot too

Is it actually working for anyone????
???
If the install and copying to the system/app doesn't work it probably needs other files like framework and permissions.
Hope the ROM guys can fix this up for you.
I flashed clean note rom, i got new tw laucher, but i like old stock tw launcher. plz somebody help me from where should i get old stock tw launcher............

I have attached the stock TW launcher (old) .apk and .odex file, check if it works for you
I am on odexed rom so cannot provide deodexed .apk, you will have to copy both .apk and .odex to system.
The same here.I love the old TW launcher but as hard as i tried i wasn't able to find a way to install it on cleanote v6
I followed instructions of jeetu1981 but it didn't work for me Any other advice please??

Yes,i did but the launcher doesn't appear to be installed!Do you believe that the fault is because i am on deodexed rom(jeetu's guide is for odexed rom) or do i make any mistake when changing permissions??

Thank you my friend,it works flawlessly! I did as you adviced:i deleted tw5,moved the launcher you attached to system/apps,changed permissions and rebooted.
after the first reboot the tw4 force-closed and when i went to settings/apps/all the tw4 launcher appeared to have 0.00B
Following your instructions i deleted the launcher,i re-installed it ,with the same method,i cleared data and it worked like a charm:laugh:
You are amazing:good::good::good:
thank you

Don't worry my friend is quite easy.Follow the instructions i was given by jeetu1981.First of all download from market any launcher and install it.
Then uninstall the default tw5 launcher from your device with any method you prefer(eg.root explorer or any other uninstaller).
copy the tw4 apk ,jeetu has attached ,to your phone and install it using root explorer in:system/app.change the permissions to rw-r-r and reboot.
After the reboot the tw4 may force-closes,Go to settings/applications/all and check if the touchwiz 4 has been installed. If so clear data.
In case you see that tw4 is 0.00B uninstall the launcher again and re-install it,reboot etc.Go again to settings/apps/all and clear data and this is it!!
Enjoy the launcher!
Please do not forget to thank jeetu1981 because if it wasn't him i would still be in the...dark
All credits go to jeetu1981:good:

There should be a quite simple way. Install cm10, backup the app with titanium backup or another backup app, restore your aokp build and install it.

Thnaks, I beleve this could have worked too, I found the problem now though..
for anybody that cares:
There are two issues that can cause this problem:
1. First of all, if you have an equalizer preinstalled, you need to uninstall that one.
2. You need to change the permissions of the Apk file in your system folder to rw-r--r--
This way it worked for me....

ok its showing this
owner - read , write, execute (no ticks)
group - read, write, execute (all three ticks)
others - read, write, execute (read and execute only ticked)
i tried ticking all the empty ones it gives an error that changing permissions wasn't successful ... some system apps don't allow permission changes

I guess you are flashing a 4.2.2 MMS.apk on a 4.1.1 rom so it's not going to work.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637121
It's for 4.0.4 but should work on 4.1.1, if it not work then restore the original MMS.apk you can get it from one of the 4.1.1 roms on the forum.

You make backups with recovery. You can also make a backup of the xperia home apk with titanium backup that you can restore,
I can provide you with the file when I get time.
Just remember that in future it is always good practice to backup things up before you flash anything or replace system apps. that way when things go wrong (Or if you don't like the result) then you can easily go back without having to ask for someone to provide you with the files that you once had on your phone.

Hey I saw the zip with the files but how am I supposed to flash them? This isn't a CWM zip..I only need to flash the system UI... Launcher is ok
You throw them in system/apps and overwrite.
Restart and then it should be back to normal.

Edit this idea was a massive fail.. I had to factory reset ater backing up my data and reflash the ROM... It seems the smaller softkeys are due to the ROM. What can I do to have the stock softkeys? How do I flash those @gregbradley?

seeing as you never mentioned which rom you were on I presumed you wanted the stock systemUI.apk.
If you want something different then extract it from your rom download and put it in system/app using root explorer and change the permissions so they are the same as other apps.
HINT
put it in system
long press on it and choose change permissions
change them to this
