Hey guys
Question
so im an idiot and didnt make a backup of my TELUS stock firmware on the one, so i am stuck on custom roms instead of sense, which i like oddly.

cheers!

:good:
I haven't been able to find a stock ROM from Telus, as I've been looking myself. However, I did find a HTC One Telus stock nandroid backup which will work too; that's what I used.
Let me find the link for you....okay well I haven't made 10 posts yet so I can't post links....Hopefully I wont get in trouble for this.

Its a TWRP nandroid backup so if you use CWM you'll have to install TWRP.
Hope this helps!

You can boot into fastboot and then boot into recovery from there.
Even if you don't have cwm installed you can always
Fastboot boot cwm.img

You probably have to extract the .rar to the twrp folder. On the computer you need to extract the rar file and adb push the contents to your twrp backup location.
Next time think before you wipe system. Then you won't run into problems like these.

I just rooted my HTC Vivid and installed CWM. First I wanted to start off by creating a backup of my rom, so I selected the "Backup Current Rom" option. I installed the the necessary utilities to create a backup. Finally, I was given the option to create my backup name. But when I select OK to begin the backup process, the phone reboots, and gets stuck at the HTC loading screen and doesn't move. Is there something I missed in order to create a backup of my current ROM? I've ran it like 10 times and it just keeps getting stuck at the HTC title screen and gets frozen there, forcing me to remove the battery to boot the phone.
Sorry if this question has already been answered, I just couldn't find this topic specific to the Vivid anywhere else.
Do not use CWM. Use another recovery like TWRP or WCX Recovery.

Can I install those over the CWM recovery? Or do I need to factory reset my phone?

So I went ahead and installed TWRP using GooManager and it still just sticks at the HTC Splash Screen when I try to boot into Recovery. Any other ideas?
*EDIT: Actually, it started working when I flashed it with a different app. I think I'll stick with TWRP. Thanks!!
Yea you gotta use fastboot or the flash image gui app to flash it. There's also a kit in the dev forum that comes with recoveries and flashes them too if you didn't know

Hi there,
I've used for a while with AT&T ROM without any problem.
Successfully rooted and CWM installed.
I tried to flash my phone by this ROM using CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171741
However I failed. My phone didn't work with it.
Now, I cannot go into my CWM anymore. Although I reinstalled it.
I still can access to Bootloader. Select Recovery but it showed some scripts then it couldn't go further.
Anyone can tell me how to fix it?
I am frightened now since my phone is nothing more than garbage now I cannot do anything with my phone
Thank you so much
You're gonna have to relock your bootloader and run the RUU then unlock your bootloader to flash your recovery again, then you'll be able to run your recovery again. Also if you're S-ON, you have to extract the boot.img from the rom you installed and flash it before you install the rom, otherwise the phone won't boot.
Download another recovery to your computer...
Go into hboot... go to fastboot... connect via USB
Fastboot flash recovery (recovery name)
Reboot bootloader... choose recovery

Hello,
I did the way you said and it worked!!
Thank you very much.
Note: I think the ROM I flashed had some kind of weird code that led to the problem.
I used AT&T edition for my Bell Canada phone. RUU said failed during the process, however, that's when I reinstalled my CWM and it works again!
Thank you everyone for helping me with this question!
Get away from CWM...
Switch to TWRP or WCX

Ur welcome and like do what ringfool said CWM doesn't play well with this device. I personally use WCX but switch recovery cuz most of the time roms flash with errors is because of the recovery.

Yes! CWM really works badly on HTC Holiday.
WCX really rocks! It shows everything precisely and large enough to look haha.
Most of ROMs can be flashed using WCX. CWM cannot open some
TWRP for the win...Is that redundant? Flashed it last night, works flawlessly with the cm10 rom
Someone needs too post a really big sign somewhere in these forums that says DO NOT USE CWM I have seen at least 5 guys in the last month getting screwed because of it.

I have to return my phone and I cannot get my stock recovery back onto my One. I followed the instructions that were played out in the guide I used but either did something wrong, or accidentally deleted the initial backup.
If anyone with the rogers variant could please help me by providing the stock rogers recovery.img i would be forever indebted to you. A stock nandroid would also work.

This thread has the OTA for rogers. In the folder there should be a firmware.zip file that contains a recovery. I was able to use the to upgrade to 1.29.631.17 from .4 (took 3 restarts) but I never tried to the 4.3 update.

so is the firmware.zip the Stock recovery file? If i flash it, will i go back to Stock recovery?
Currently i am on Stock Rom, but the recovery is TWRP... so if i try to update the latest 4.3 by Rogers, it opens up the TWRP recovery and sits there.,..

Are you sure the proper HTC/adb drivers are loaded so that your computer actually recognizes the device when trying to sideload the ROM?

Have you tried flashing cwm?? I have never tried TWRP, but have always been using CWM Recovery. You could try that and see if your able to adb push update.zip to sdcard or use sideload.
Use the HTCOne all in one tool to flash CWM and then under mounts and storage you can mount the phone as usb for PC, copy a new Rom accross and flash it

I think i had this problem earlier, i only made progress once i'd formatted the storage, then used CWM sideload
If you know you have some Rom on your phone downloaded look for that and install it through your recovery. If not you can format everything and see if you can sideload after that. I had this problem the other day and an old trickdroid Rom I found on my phone after digging through files saved my as$!

Ok, so I'm a total noob with android, having just recently converted from my iPhone to my HTC One. I decided to root my phone a few days ago, using Hassoon2000's All-In-One Kit, and everything went smoothly without any problems. However, I decided to try and flash a ROM to disable system write protection because I couldn't update SuperSU. I used this video here
Anyway, after flashing, my phone tried to boot up and got stuck at the "HTC One, quietly brilliant" screen, and won't go any further, but I can still get into the bootloader and CWM recovery. I was told to run the RUU for my phone to unroot and unbrick, so I downloaded the file and ran it. When it was installing, I noticed that the ROM that the RUU was installing was an older version than the one on my phone, and the RUU then gave me error 131.
I'm in a dead end here, I honestly have no idea what to do, but my guess is that the RUU that I got was outdated, so I need a newer version of the Three UK HTC One RUU. Can anyone help me out here?
There is no Three RUU - Three have yet to release it. Which rom were you trying to load? Use the toolkit to sideload the rom in recovery then once you've got your phone working again, transfer the CWM nandroid backup for 3 UK from the page you've just linked to. Place it in your clockworkmod backup folder then restore it in recovery. This will get you back to stock rom if you still want it, not stock recovery though.

The file I was trying to install is linked in that YouTube video. Also, when I tried to sideload viperROM, recovery just said "unable to mount /data" and the sideload failed. I also tried using TWRP recovery to flash the ROM, it said there was no OS when I was trying to reboot.

Use this guide to push a rom to your phone, then flash it in recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325853
Also, you know that you install viper 1.0 first then to the updates one at a time in order? Just checking, apologies if you already knew that.

I did this, and then when I went into recovery to look for the ROM, I couldn't find it, and noticed that it said "Internal Storage 0 MB". Do you think I could have messed up my partitions when I originally tried to disable write protection?
