Hello people,
I have a problem, actually more then one.
I tried rooting my s2 mini from a guide, installed clockworkmod-5.0.2.8.tar via Odin and now i'm blocked in the recovery menu.
i know there were people here having the same problem, but... every time i reset i get gt-7500 instead of gt-6500 text, so i'm not sure but i think the phone got screwed up.
i've tried to flash cm version 10.1 for 6500 mini but after some text it says
e:error in /sdcard/ (the cm version name.zip)
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
so i tried to flash a 7500gt rom and the installation worked ( i know , lol.. but i was curious)
even so , i'm still blocked in cwm recovery
After more searches on the forum i found a "cwm-6.0.3.3-jena.tar" so i decided to flash this and get rid of that pesky cwn 7500 messing with the phone but.. odin is stuck at "setup connection"
i did try to remove battery for a while, change usb port, get newest odin, restart pc, sacrifice a chicken on a shrine, yet nothing worked...
any ideas? i'm a noob so... any help would be much appreciated.
First reflash Stock ROM via Odin (find it on SamMobile page and search for appropriate version for example if you have S6500D model than search for that model or if you have S6500 (without D/T/L) than search for that ROM). After installing ROM go back to download mode and flash latest CWM. And after this method you can flash CM10/CM10.1 or any other ROM you want.

I think you should try sacrificing a pig or sheep. Chicken's aren't so reliable !
Also you might try the old drown'em in a lake then burn them..but it's very hard to get the pig to drown.

Hi,
Well i was trying to rooting up my phone for trying out Cynogenmod 9 (ICS 4.0) .....
The files i transferred to the sd card :
1.) recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix
2.) upd_1
As instructed on tutorial guide... first i installed clockwork 5.... its done without any errors.... after that i tried "upd_1", which aborted installation with some "(status 7)" error..... after that i rebooted cell and gone for factory reset..... after that my ace got stucked up on boot loop screen.... cant go any furthur..... same step repeats many many times..... but no result......
I tried 2 guides....

2.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552695
I'll appreciate any help regarding my boot loop problem.....
Thanks & Regards
Status 7 error relates to errors in updater script,it should not have been ignored like that.Furthermore,upd_1.zip is a root package for GB roms, not ICS roms,so wrong bin file there. Can you get to download mode? Or,atleast recovery?
Same problem
Hi I have the same problem just keeps cycling through the Samsung boot screen on a loop. I can get into Download mode and also I can boot into recovery. I downloaded a stock rom S5830XWKPN_S5830SWKP6_S5830XEUKP1_HOME Then I used odin 4.38 and clicked on OPS and used cooper_v1.0.ops and then clicked on one package and clicked on the zip of the stock rom I downloaded. Everything seemed to go well, but then the phone got stuck on this loop of the Samsung boot screen. I hope that you can help please.
Best regards Wez

hmmm I think he's still in GB. I think he means he's trying to prepare his ace to flash ICS rom cause obviously you can't flash ICS with stock recovery.
as for the op... try using stock recovery and flash upd_1? thats what I did.

Boot into recovery and wipe data.
Make a wipe in standart or full wipe in custom and flash again with odin! It will surely help

Is the phone bricked? I have tried using packages from Odin and One Click Unbrik but they both fail, I can get into download mode, but I cannot get into recovery mode. It just says ARM9 or something whenever I try. Is there a solution yet?
i fixed my phone i kept on having boot loops after falshing single packing so i turned the phone off then hold power and home till you come to recovery option wipe cache and i think its factory reset or full wipe so do both wipes then reboot phone WALA my phone was working hope this helps and dont forget to tick thanks button :good:
boot loop with other issues too...
hi there guys. I'm new to this forum and also to flashing...
but anyways I had a good look before flashing my phone but still messed it up...silly me
I tried rooting my phone via SD card(first clockwork mod ace 4 followed by clockwork mod 5 as said in tutorial) then upd_1 and then cm9. But after installing clockwork mod ace 4 I get :" E: failed to mount/ system (invalid argument)" same happens when trying to wipe cache partition/ data/ factory reset.
I can get into android system recovery no problems and also into odin download mode (where it gives you the warning and prompts you to press volume up if you still want to continue. It is also stuck on the samsung screen if I don't press anything.
But when trying to connect the phone to odin in order to rectify what I've done (with the one package methode, either gingerbread or cmw9) odin won't detect my phone. I used several different cables, original samsung cables, changed usb ports (directly off the motherboard) but to no avail.
heimdall will recognise the phone as far as I can see (when you click on detect device it says: "device detected") but I cannot find the right files I need to use for heimdall. I would very much appreciate any help and advice. Please point me in the right direction, show me where to download the correct files and which ones and please bear in mind I'm a noob. put it as plain as bread for me please :good:
just flash clockworkmod 5 and format system and data...
do a complete wipe ...clear cache,, wipe dalvik
then mount system and data and install any of ur modded stock or cm7... enjoy
---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 PM ----------
many roms are pre rooted plus u dont need rooot access to flash rom
to flash CustomROM u dont need to root first our ace simply flash CWM 5 and put your CustomROM flashable .zip to your sdcard and then fullwipe (data, cache, advantage) and done.....
most of CustomROM now can directly flash from previous or Other CustomROM without flash to StockROM first..

It changes everything. 5830 is completely different from 5830i (they only share the name). Roms and mods for 5830 might brick your phone, so be careful.

EDIT: Problem solved!
Hi all,
I just tried to install CWM Recovery on a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000, and it didn't work.
The phone was (originally) running under Android Froyo (2.2), and unrooted. First of all, I used UnlockRoot to root it, and it worked fine. I checked the root access right after using dedicated apps (rootChecker, sdMaid, etc), to confirm.
Then I wanted to install a ClockWorkMod recovery. I followed this guide (on the CyanogenMod wiki). I downloaded and installed Kies to have the USB drivers installed. Then I downloaded Heimdall (my computer is running under Windows 7) + hardcore CMW Kernel. I booted into download mode, then installed the driver. (Step 2 on the tutorial). Then next step was flashing the kernel. It suceeded, and the phone powered off. Turning it on, it just starts to make endless boot loops. The system won't start running, and it is not possible to access to the CWM recovery menu. But the download mode is still available.
So, does anyone have pointers to help me fix this issue ? i would like to have CMW installed, and then install a custom ROM (the latest Jelly Bean based Cyanogenmod release).
Thanks in advance.
Just try again installing stock Rom with odin
See my post Here

Hi Donovan,
Thanks for the swift answer. And yes, it definitely worked. I downloaded this stock rom, and I flashed it successfully with Odin v3 1.85. I am running now under Android 2.3.6, but I lost the root access. Rooting it won't be a problem, hopefully. I still have access to the download mode, and to the stock recovery. I'll try once again to dive into the ClockWorkMod Recovery, and then install a Jelly Bean rom.
I'm hitting the thanks button right after posting this.
Thanks back at ya. Cf root you can find here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Dont forget the wiping before flashing jb.
Most times u have 2 flash custom twice.
If first time hangs just pull battery out, get in recovery & flash second time or third if its needed.
If it says install completed then its done
Much pleasure flashing the i9000
Actually, I spoke to fast, the problem just got much worse.
Okay, just after flashing the stock rom (2.3.6), everything was fine. Then I downloaded the latest stable CM10 (direct link).
I booted into recovery mode (CWM Recovery, actually) and I did try to install (i din't not forget wiping data/cache, dalvik and batt stats), but it failed, saying the package was incorrect. I tried many times, copying again and again the zip file, same problem.
Then I downloaded a previous version, CM9. I tried to installed it, and i run into a very weird error, saying an assertion failed when trying to install the package.
Something like;
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys" || getprop ("ro.build.product") == "galaxys" ... getprop ("ro.build.device") = GT-I9000 etc...
Click to collapse
And then installation program aborts (error code 7.)
My assumption, is that it looks like my phone is no longer being considered by a samsung gt i9000, according to the installer. Weird, though...
Now, I still have access to the recovery. But the phone can't boot, as everything was wiped. Much worse, I can switch to download mode, but i can't flash back the stock rom, Odin can't detect the phone (I tried with Odin v3 1.82, 1.83 and 1.87).
I'm getting desperate, any pointers ?
Thanks in advance!
Did u try to flash the custom more then 1 time?
Oh yes, I did it like a dozen of times. And I still get the same error.

gti9000 rooting
Hi Donovan, could you help me please:fingers-crossed:
I've purchased a unlocked galaxy s gti9000 and I want to root it. Something I've never done on any phone as I'm a complete noob. I managed to install XWJW1 FIRMWARE. I've now got as follows PDA:I9000XWJW6
PHONE: I9000XWJW1
CSC: I9000XSAJV8.
All the links to the file for rooting seem to be dead. I've found some for rooting XXJVU, But that's not right is it? I would really like to try ICS or Jelly Bean. I must admit I'm nervous about this as it's taken me a while to get a phone as good as this one!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
@Nooga:There is a very complete and straightforward guide here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546). You might want to take a look at it.
Now can we please come back on my topic ? Thanks!

Thanks Roland will give it a try tonight.
Well, that is now solved. I tried something silly that ended up working fine.
As the cm9-smtd update package couldn't run (because of the assertion fail), I just opened the zip package, then edited the file META-INF/com/android/google/updater-script.
I basically removed the assert statement at the top of the file.
CMW recovery installed it properly, without any err. I now have an ICS based rom (Cyanogen Mod 9).
Problem definitely solved now. Going to make a Nandroid backup.
Thanks all, again.
Hi all, posting my saga here if it would help someone, maybe you can comment or help. Here's the info and steps I've taken:
Info:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 7.0" (AT&T) running stock Froyo
Model: SGH-I987 (aka GSM Galaxy Tab - P1000, T-Mobile SGH-T849)
Baseband: I987UCJK1
Steps Taken:
Rooted using SuperOnceClick - successful
Installed SGT-Bootloader-Patch-v1.00.apk, reported that I was safe, however I still cannot install unsigned zips…
To get around 3e recovery, I decided to flash a custom rom with cwm recovery built in. This is where things started to go downhill
I installed an overcome kernel which I thought would give me cwm recovery, however instead I got the thin white line on the right hand side and the robotic voice. Couldn't get to recovery
After the robotic voice I installed JJ4 bootloaders which got me a different splash screen, but at least it was booting now, still no recovery though
I think at some point I may have repartitioned as well
Then I tried a cyanogenmod install, things started to pickup because I got cwm recovery working, but the ROM install failed with an assert failure getprop("ro.product.device") … I assume this is because the device is actually and SGH-I987 but the rom is for a P1000. I deleted the assert from the install script in the zip file, however the install still fails, can't get past recovery.
The latest attempt this morning, I followed the instructions here "How to unbrick your galaxy tab" I downloaded the firmware from sammobile (Tablet, android, GT-P1000, UK / IRELAND, P1000XWJP9_P1000XXJPZ_P1000XEUKP1_HOME.tar) plus the Odin zip file containing the P1_add_hidden.pit file for repartition. Everything goes well in Odin however after reboot I have (see text and pictures below.)
E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)
E:install_application_for_customer: Can't mount /data
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions. copy application failed.
When I reboot out of recovery, I get put into the glowing Samsung animation, which appears to blink, freeze then restart in an endless loop, I've let it run for sometime now, seems no end to it (see picture below)
I thinking I may have hosed my internal SD, but I'm not sure? Any advice to get this thing back running appreciated. My goal is to install Cyanogenmod 9 on it. Thanks.
Use overcome method, meaning you must do gb stock save v5 before overcome kernel.
Link is in my signature.

Download Odin version 1.85 and put that on your computer. Download the stock rom for your device from sammobil.com. Extract the .tar.md5 file from that using 7-zip. From Odin, plug your phone in using the USB cable while your in download mode on the phone. in PDA in Odin find the md5 file. Flash that. It'll return your phone to like new condition. You'll lose anything stored on it so make sure you back up your phone first.

It really depends on the problem.
There are a small percentage of people that has broken/degraded internal memory chip (NAND chip).
For those, there are threads dealing with removing the chip or modifying ROMs to run on external SD card entirely.

You've mixed up your phone models, posting in the i9300 q&a forum and, more seriously, flashing a recovery for the i9300 -which can hard brick your phone.
Report your own post and ask a moderator to move it to the correct area.
but the subforum says i9300 and i9305
i have a 9305 and i cand find a page dedicated to mainly i9305
GTi9305 was how samsung printed it on the label
No, there is a sub forum just for the i9305 due to danger of mixing files between the two.
indeed sorry for the mix up

So if you have a 9305 LTE you should flash the right recovery for it,otherwise you can brick your phone!
FYI:if there was 4.3 firmware or higher installed, you have then the Knox Bootloader installed.
That means you cannot downgrade to 4.2.2 or lower.Minimum firmware number is 4.3 then.you can check it if you are going to download mode. there are a lot of howto in xda for check the bootloader.
I have also a 9305 LTE and i have done it that way:
1.Download newest CWM Recovery for 9305 LTE to flash it with odin
2.download odin for you pc and install it,flash the CWM recovery in odin
3.be sure to have the right usb drivers for your phone installed to your pc
4.download original sammy or custom rom as you wish as a zip file for flash it in custom recovery
5.in recovery mode do full wipe(data, cache, dalvik cache)but think about: your phone is then restored to factory setting and everything of your data is lost
6.flash your favorite rom
7.reboot
Enjoy!

Hi I am having a similar problem and I apologise as I dont understand what 'raw kernel' you are refering to. I check my phone and it says "PDA: N7000XXLT5". I think this is what you mean?
So I think I probably I flashed the wrong Philz Touch CWM onto my XXLT5. According to the Philz TOuch post, XXLT5 is suppose to use version 5.03.0 but I didnt read this info and installed 5.15.0.
Please advise. thank you!

Read up more on the sticky threads to get a better view of what you're getting into.
1. what are kernels/recoveries and how to install them
2. what problems are there to take note of that you might encounter and how to resolve
3. always do a backup of everything they ask you to
4. prepare a stock rom to fall back on to flash just in case
