Hi Guys. (First post)
Rooted my UK One, using a CNET guide (can't post the link, I need 10 posts!)
Worked well, blocked ads as per my orginal aim.
However, 4.2.2 is out today in the UK, and everytime I download it and the phone reboots to install it boots up TWRP and all I can do is reboot the phone, starting the install off again (it's sat there now). A quick google suggests it's the custom bootloader messing things up, and the rooted rom may not like suddenly becoming un-rooted
How do I get the stock vodafone firmware back on, so I can install the software update? The ad blocks aren't working much anymore, so won't be too sad to loose root (could always re-root I suppose)
I understood the root and recovery process (did my galaxy s2 as well) but going the other way is confusing, mainly knowing what firmware to use (UK Vodafone)
Cheers
Sam
Have you checked the sticky guide about going back to stock?
Have you searched the threads for Vodafone RUU / backups?
There isn't a Vodafone UK RUU available so you'll have to hope someone has a CWM/TWRP backup you can restore

Dears,
I have a Nexus One that some months back I root follow some steps on this forums. All work perfect. But now, to get more easy updates I think in go back to like when I buy with the official OS and can receive and install directly the OTA updates because now not use too much the rooted advantages.
Exist a method to do this?
In the phone information show Android version 2.3.3 baseband version 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04 and Build number GRI40.
Any idea?
I already receive a OTA message to update to 2.3.4 but when say install the phone tell me that go to restart, after restart show me the Android System Recovery and a lot of options ( reboot, USB-ms..., etc, etc) and a error like not found one file (I not remember the name).
Is best unroot? Or exist any easy method to put the 2.3.4 (or latest version in the future) without need backup all the data, wait a lot to update, etc?
The OTA updates are simple and I never need backup the info before update.
Any help are welcome because Im lost :S
THANKS!
If I'm understanding you correctly. You want to go back to stock and receive updates through via google? If thats what you want to do.
Follow the instructions here. It will restore your phone to the original ROM it shipped with. Shortly after setting your phone back up you should receive updates fairly quickly. Last time I did it I was back up to current in a couple hours.
Thanks, but when say:
"Only if downgrading to stock builds older than FRG33, ONLY FOR AMOLED DEVICES - Revert HBOOT to older version.
******* WARNING - DOWNGRADING HBOOT ON SLCD DEVICE WILL BRICK IT !!! ******* EPF30 Attention - Amoled vs SLCD"
How I know what is my version of phone? I can know if is AMOLED?
Thanks!
If you use the FRG33 file it doesn't matter...
Just in-case you still want to know, you can check which screen you have by typing dmesg in a terminal emulator and scanning the results. AMOLED screen will show up as samsung_oled_panel SLCD will show up as something else...
Thanks!
Exist a easy method to get, for example now, the 2.3.4 version of Android without lost information, in simple steps for my Nexus One and without unroot the device?
Third option in this post, but without the first step:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13909618&postcount=2
Thanks guys!, I already downgrade to 2.1.1 and update by OTA to 2.3.4... Now think in root again ajajajaja. But now is more easy using the recovery that I have installed, its OK?
Yes it's a lot easier to root using recovery...
One extra doubt: after start with 2.3.4 the phone not have any information (like new one), but I found on my Market that exist a list of all my already downloaded applications as "installed" but on the phone not found this applications. The sync are active, but these applicaton not are autoinstalled again on the phone automatically and show as installed (that prevent that I can install again...) Any idea?
Hi folks,
first post, just registered here, but I've been reading various threads nearly non-stop for the past 4 ish days on ways to improve my HTC One.
I have it rooted, super cid, and s-off at moment, but with standard Vodafone UK-Ireland image.
Was reading up on the different roms and getting nearly ready to install the either Google Play Edition rom or ARHD rom and up popped a OTA update for KitKat, (4.4.2) phone is currently running 4.3
I was wondering if the software image is of any use to anyone here? I see a good few firmwares from 02, H3G and EE, but didn't see any Vodaphone ones.
So if the image is of use to people, can someone reply with the best way to get it intact off the phone, it just finished downloading at the moment, waiting for me to press install now or install later.....

Just copy it from SDCard\Downloads to anywhere else. If someone needs it, hopefully they find this thread.

You posted about htc one 4.19.161.11 firmware ,,can you upload because i want to restore my phone to stock. It will be very kind of you
So i purchased a note 3 off ebay globally unlocked. Original firmware was 4.4.4 this is a samsung N900A. with AT&t firmware
After searching around, i first found inforamtion about trying the Morelocale / morelocale 2 and proceeded to downgrade via odin to 4.4.2 and rooted with towel root, safestrap installed, and busy box. installed more locale/morelocale 2 only changed some of the language to chinese not all (this phone is going to be used in china, for my mother in-law)
Searched some more found xnote, but the xnote 7.0 isnt working with 4.4.2 flashed to a seperate rom slot, and the other versions of xnote dont seem to be compatible with the 900A 4.4.2.
This is what i have done so far.. i really need to get chinese up and running on this phone properly, since its going to be used over seas and not with any U.S. Carriers, and since at&t is already a gsm only carrier, can i flash some stock chinese installs onto it? is there a version of xnote that im missing out on? is there another custom rom that can give us a full chinese enterface on this note 3
Well for those of you who need an answer i finnaly found it!
You need to have your Version of firmware down to 4.4.2 and this will only work with an At&t 900A at Firmware 4.4.2. Must have rooted, safestrap, and busybox installed and ready to go, then you get a version of this firmware installed on your Stock slot.
soo i started at 4.4.4 so i downgraded via odin to 4.4.2>towel root>safestrap>busy box>download Internazionale move zip over too phone>safestrap boot recovery>factory wipe>install>isntall the ZIP FILE you put on your phone internazionale>install>reboot system> takes about 5 mins to start up, it will start up like the first time you opned your phone, but the first question it will ask you is language and you can choose from any language still spoken in the world. Gee Gee, GO, GL, HF.

[p.s.] i know the automated system says i shouldnt post links probably for anti spam purposes, but i broke it up so people who end up googling this question/looking at it can have an answer, i only found out about this rom by googling on a cell phone, for some reason it doesnt come up when googled from a computer, im clueless as to why...
Alright, my problem here is that I want to update my phone and such, on (4.4.2)
A while back I attempted to root my phone only to fail with it trying every possible thing, after a while I decided that I wanted to update my phone to marshmallow, however during that time I would always get updates that download then when I attempt to install them it would reboot the phone and take me to fastboot without updating note my phone isn't rooted, but it is unlocked because I never bother to lock it because I didn't know that would affect the update.
There is other reasons I want to lock it too.
I DID make a backup of the stock recovery, however due to my PC forcing itself to update to windows 10 and corrupting my user account on windows or something I lost most of my stuff.
Anyways the help I am looking for is, there a way to return it to stock?
So far all the guides I found require me to have supersu, or whatever to put it back to stock.
TL;DR: can't update phone (not rooted but unlocked), guides so far didn't help.
RUU is your best bet to get back to stock. Check the thread linked below.

Hi all.
So it's been a while that I've rooted a phone (Note 4 years ago).
Getting a refurbished Note 8 very soon (UK).
I just want to root it and install only what's needed, without applying custom roms etc.
Just need it rooted for Titanium Backup, modded Google Play. Stuff like that.
Hope someone can help me in how I should go about it.
Also should I update the phone to 9.0 as soon as I boot it up?
Thanks.
Edit: Got the phone now. It took me to the home screen when first booted up. Looks like already updated to version 9. Does rooting still trigger KNOX?

Yes rooting will trip Knox.
To flash TWRP just follow the steps in this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-official-3-3-1-x-twrp-for-galaxy-note8-exynos.3832962/ (just use the latest TWRP which is 3.5 I believe)
If you're just going to root stock filmware you will need to flash RMM/KG bypass or you will get locked out of your phone (only official filmware can be flashed error, then you will have to flash stock to fix it) - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ll-twrp-on-exynos-samsung-after-2018.3747535/
If you are going to flash a custom rom they have the RMM state prepatched so this step would not be necessary. To flash a custom rom just follow the steps laid out in the OP of the rom you want to use.
