Hello,
I am wondering which is the best settings for white balance in 4.2.2 stock rom. I dont know whick screen type i have, if thats relevant.
I have a JDC panel. The settings I find best for me are Saturation: 3.5 Hue: 160°
Just play around until you find what's best for you.

I dont really have any clue about whats the "best" settings for screens. But i tried your solution and it looks brilliant! Thank you
You're welcome.

It's all based on individual preferences, JDC or Sharp screen and your brightness settings. I have a JDC screen with 25% brightness and find 4.5, 180 as the best setting...YMMV.
Dead Cookies leave no trails...
if you are on 4.2.2
press *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#SERVICE#*#*)
and under "Service Info" > "Firmware Info" > "Display Plugin" you can see your panel type
Mine is JDC, so it shows panel_id:mdy70

Does anyone know how to adjust the haptic feedback for this phone? Sometimes it feels really good and other times it just too overboard. Its almost as if when close to low battery, it feels better and less choppy.

You can adjust the intensity for the keyboard by going into the keyboard settings and hitting advanced. It's the "keypress vibration duration" setting. I have mine set at 6ms, that seems to be the sweet spot. As far as the general haptic feedback is concerned, I just turned it off because it is WAY too powerful. That setting is found in the sounds setting.
I wish there was a way to turn it completely off. Mine has a nasty rattle near top of the phone no matter how I adjust it.

Have you tried setting it to 0 ms.

Interesting, that option is grayed out on my device. I can't change the setting. It's a T-Mobile XT1053.

same here, its greyed out on my unlocked Moto X as well. Any suggestions people?
I just turn it off altogether.
I have auto brightness off, auto adjust screen tone off and brightness set to max. My screen randomly dims and then gets bright again...anyone know what's causing this?

Hmm is it this adapt display option maybe?
sEnt from thE noTe 3
Same here then I went into my settings to check the brightness (settings, display, brightness) and it said brightness decreased to prevent over heating or something like that ..check it next time you notice it dimming and see if it's the same thing ..pretty annoying

power saver uses the dimming option for low consumption of battery and make sure auto adjust is off in display settings

I have everything turned off also ..I checked in my settings every time my screen dimmed and every time the same message ..it was driving me nuts for days (still is)
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
I've had this happened to me also.
It seems to be more frequent when I'm using Chrome ( not stock browser ). It suddenly gets dim and then may or may not eventually brighten up again, it's pretty random
Also happens when I'm on the launcher but not as frequent
- Automatic Brightness / Off
- Screen Mode / Professional Photo
- Power saving mode / Off
- Auto adjust screen tone / Off
Is there something else I may be missing?
It happens to me while using the xda app. Annoying as hell. It has the same message as Melissa

Does anyone know if this processor does thermal throttling? That could possibly trigger a power save dim with overheating. If we get root this can be disabled using trickster mod.

Thought this was an issue with my phone when I got it from AT&T yesterday. Glad to know it isn't just me. It seems to only have the issue when I am in a low-lite area (at least on mine) but when I am in an area with good lighting and the back light is 75% or more it doesn't dim nearly as much. Would be interested to see what a fix would be for this.

So I've been having this issue and noticed it like two days ago, and reading all your responses I looked through and noticed I had one of the features that I thought I turned off. Smart Stay says that it starts to turn the screen off when we look away maybe it's a buggy feature (one I never intended to use but it might be the one doing this dimming thing (being one of the first steps to turn off the screen)
My phone's diaplay has turned pink. But when I press the home button to open task manager then the area behind recent apps dialog box becomes as it should be.
So please anyone could tell me if it could be repaired or the screen is to be changed!
Thanks in advance
Hmmm. This is interesting.
Did this just suddenly happen or did something happen to it, eg. Did you flash a rom/kernel or did to get submerged in water etc
If it did get submerged in water, its likely a hardware fault
Try flash in Sempahore GB, that has Voodoo colour, and see if that changes anything - if not, its likely a hardware fault

Follow what @Soryuu said to do. In my opinion, if this is a hardware issue (display to be changed), then you better buy a used phone as it costs equal to the display. Or you may use it as your secondary phone and buy a new quad core phone
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Maybe a hardware issue like that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529205
but if there's something wrong with the display then why the area behind the recent dialog box ok

That's probably why - when you reassembled the phone you must have also done something to the screen digitiser without realising.

Check that the display flex cable is properly seated. Or see if you can tune it out with colour calibration.

Settings, Display, Brightness
UN tick Adapt to lighting conditions.
Is that what you wanted?
There was another setting before the 257 update that let you uncheck an option that said something like 'automatic change screen condition to save battery"
I'll just have to reflash the old version to do a screen shot for you guys.

I've posted similar question earlier, but no answer so far. It was called "Optimised backlight" and it was positioned right below "Pulse notification light". It is basically DLS (Dynamic Luminance Scaling) and it is the most annoying power-saving feature in the known universe and I absolutely hate it. It should be a way to disable it with root explorer, but I can't find it in the folder where it was on my Xperia T.

I think I read somewhere that Sony removed it due to it bugging out with some apps.
They should remove it then, not leave us without possibility to turn this crap off.
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah. I would think if it doesn't work when on, then they should have disable it and left it off by default.
All other Android phone worked without trying to change this crap.
I love this phone but it's annoying me a lot when reading text that has dark background and graphics.

Just picked up this phone a few days ago.
Overall love the build. Am coming from s7 edge.
Concerned about the screen though.
The s7 edge seemed yellowish in basic mode but the other modes were not. Adaptive display was very nice and adjustable too.
Note 8 screen temperature is very warm. Whites look yellow brownish. They don't change between the different modes.
Adaptive display is the only fixand even there it requires several adjustments.
For me they best whites are with temp set to warm and then the green dialed down to about 20-25% of max. That gives me best colors.
However feel like I should have better whites on the other screen modes.
I find if I look at the screen about 20*of axis then the screen whitens up.
Do others find the same our is mine defective? Trying to decide if I should keep this or wait for the LG V30 which night be better to manage size wise.
Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk
Take it to the store and compare side by side, make sure the settings and brightness are the same and decide from there. Sending mine back.
Have you made sure the Blue Light Fliter is off?
Is Warm supposed to be a slight yellow hue? I thought.
Warm on my Note 8 is pink hue .I have mine set to adaptive, with *#15987# reddish tint set to minus 9 and it looks good. Also, the Basic mode in display does nothing for the color saturation like it did in previous Galaxy devices. Still looks over saturated. I assume this is their new red oled panels LOL
OP , try and post some pics of your issue.
Will submit pics tomorrow.
Blue light not on.
I think my eyes will adapt over time.

Which test is this? I think my phone seems to have the same tinting problem
The color balance test helped mine. Wife's Note 8 was already set at -3 ,mine was zero and changed it to -9 which lessened the pink hue. That with adaptive display and it's settings also reduced pink to an extent where mine looks good to my fussy eyes now.

I'm a home theatre enthusiast so I've done a few basic measurements with my calibration equipment. I'm not terribly interested in doing anymore testing than this until we get system wide color management controls/options as there is no point. Any critical grading will be done with other programs and almost always on a computer via programs like BlackMagic Resolve and the like.
***PRE-Post edit, lol***
I decided I'll make a separate thread with everything I was going to post regarding the display modes. I wasn't planing on making a big post but my OCD got the better of me
I figured it would be more useful to others in general as a separate thread, rather than being in a thread about screen tinting.
I'll reply back in here when I finish making it (it'll take a bit).
