Seems like rom problem,Try full wipe in CWM and dont stop there, wipe cache,go to mounts and storage and wipe system,cache,sd-ext.
That sould do it.One more thing:which rom and kernel are you using exactly?

Looks that there's problem with your power button. Maybe it's broken and stuck in "pressed" position and hence it reboots when pushing home button (home + power = instant reboot on nAa's kernels) and it doesn't stay turned off when you try to turn it off because the pressed power button makes your phone to boot again.

Hi,
I'm now on stock ROM 2.1-update 1, I9000DXJG4 now i want to get download mode
so that i can flash any custom ROM, can anyone please tell me about the link to get download mode without using JIG??
Thanks.
Really? I'll tell you but you need a search key - its only here about 8 million times...
Vol Down - Home - Power all at the same time while inserting the battery. If it doesn't work - dont flash until it does.

Yes, it doesn't work, that's why i ask how to make it work.. I remembered i did that once without using the homemade jig.. but now i can't find that useful thread..
Volume down + home + power and you are in download.
If it doesn't work you got to make a fix through adb

Have you restored anything with Titanium Backup?

But if the phone is connected to power cable, the softkeys are working.

I can only repeat myself. If v28c for whatever reason (i think a bad install without wipes/factory reset after first boot) or maybe you just set it to off in settings-> display, take an older v20x version and flash it using smartflash.

I searched and found that there are shutdown animations too usually present in system/media/video/shutdown or system/customize
i tried to search it on X8 roms but could not find them so wanted to ask
Does X8 support shutdown animations? If yes them what is the method to change the shutdown animation
try creating a folder in /system/media/shutdown and place a bootanimation here with correct permissions and see whether it works or not..
It works?

Yes it was that way in GB too, but i'm sure it doesn't work now.. i have tried every combination and order but without any result.. nothing happens, if i hold it for 1 or 2 or 3 secs.. it goes just to 'recent used apps' by holding it too long..
Does on anyway the manner of rooting matter? I've just selected the root.zip update from xda in the recovery mode.. (not the most usual way i think but it works fine, i've veriefied root acces)
