[Q] Can't connect to PC after flashing newest Asylum ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I need your help here. I've just installed the newest Asylum ROM (full wipe) and everything went fine, the phone works fine. Except that I can't connect to a PC (nor my Mac for that matter), neither machine sees the Note as external storage. I've flashed the phone maybe 20 times with different ROMs since I've had it right when they first came out and never had a problem.
Maybe this is something obvious and I'm just being a noob (searched the forums though!), but I have a hunch there's something broken.
Any hints?
thanks a bunch!

I have same problem, but with every rom I installed, I tried with Asylum, Sweet, Superbean, PA, etc etc etc
All the same problem, detects the phone but I can't copy any file, very fustrating, I'm using windows 8 then, and now windows 8.1 and I think thats the problem.
Sometimes works when I connect like a USB Mass storage, not Media, but sometimes don't work both ways
It's a torture to copy files tu mi phone

OK, so I can connect to my Mac using the "Android File Transfer" application, the application sees the phone, so nothing's broken physically. But still the phone refuses to mount to any computer as external storage.
Is this a bug in CM10.1?

On most recent AOSP and CM based roms, the device is mounted as media device, instead of mass storage.
That could be your problem.

Thanks for the hint! I've installed USB switcher now and it works again! I tried this before, but I must have done something wrong at the time.
On a side note, what's the intention behind this 'new' mode as a media device? In my case that was rather no device at all, I don't get it really..

[Q] SD Card will not mount to PC

Alright, this is my first post... So a few days ago, my phone wouldn't mount the sd card to the PC through USB. I've googled and looked on here and couldn't find an answer. I've tried formatting my card, resetting my phone and all kinds of crap that didn't work. I have no clue if this is a hardware error or software, but I was in the process of reloading 1.6 and all of that from 1.0, but it also happened when I was still at a stock 1.6, so it has worked before... but not anymore. Any suggestions on what I should do? And I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.
do you install adb driver? i think you don't install some drivers
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA Premium App
Do I have to install the whole SDK or can I just install the driver itself, everywhere I go assumes that you already have the SDK installed?
1) adb driver is *not* required, since it uses usb mass storage... NOT ADB!!!
2) The phone doesnt do the mounting. The phone merely provides the "device". The computer is responsible for mounting.
Wondoze? If yes, try LINUX instead. Wondoze does all kinds of unpredictable things (failures). Rule out the phone by proving it is the wondoze.
Okay, but its weird though, it works on my windows, but my girlfriends and my works computers don't let it.... could it be the versions on there or the drivers messed up? But like I said, it works fine on my computer just not others....
Maybe the problem is your usb cable.
Sorry it took so long to get back but I forgot about my post and figured out my problem, it was the rom I was using, because after I flashed several other roms, it never did that anymore with any usb cable....

Get a different cable and connect directly to a USB port on your motherboard, report back what happens.
i have tried it doesn't work

The phone uses the same chip of flash-memory for it's internal storage as well as the internal sd-card, so it's very unlikely you have a bad flash-memory.
If you have indeed tried with different cables and different ports on different computers the only conclusion possible is that you have a defective device and should get it exchanged.

Well, what can I say, things don't last forever, in time everything breaks.
(Unless you have overclocked your phone or something...)
Get it exchanged.

A-ha. That could very well be the reason. (Either the overclock or the kernel or both.)
Try to run a completely stock kernel and see what happens when you transfer over USB then.

reinstall the drivers... the same happend to me after a windows update.
Just reinstall and it should be fixed
I'm experiencing the following: stock 10D and stock 20L USB Mass storage was fine.
I then installed CWM, wiped, then flashed Modaco fr19 after a full wipe.
When connected, I get two extra drive letters in Windows. Windows disk management sees both cards (internal and real sd) and shows correct sizes, however Windows believes both cards are unformatted.
I then rebooted into CWM, wipe, flash Gr4 with Modaco custom kernel.
Now I again get 2 drive letters, but Windows considers them empty cardreaders, so when I try to explore them, it tells me to insert a card. So somewhat the same but a little different.
I also asked this at the Modaco forum but found this thread here and perhaps you guys here have any suggestions.
From Cwm recovery I can mount the external sd just fine by the way.
Well, I have resolved this issue...
I went somewhere else, to another computer. Connected the phone, installed drivers there and I could access both cards.
After that, I went back to my own computer, connected the phone and it worked again.
Strange, but well, it works

USB issue

Hi,
I currently encounter a problem with my Optimus 2X.
I can use my usb port to load the phone but when I plug it in a computer (I tried with several computers running XP / seven / ubuntu ... and several cables). But my phone doesn't seems to be recognized by the computers.
I'm running 2.6.32.45 cyanogenmod. I wanted to go back to the original rom but my backup seems corrupted
Does anywone knows how I can go back to the original rom ? (hopping it will fix my usb issue ....)
regards.
Uninstall the old drivers, and download v3.6 from lg's site it has fixed this issue. =P
Sent from my LG-P990
Even if the coputer act like there is nothing plugged ? On several computer I used the phone wasen't recognized as a plugged peripheral (even a usb key).
I had the same problem, v3.5 of lg united driver was cqusing it , when I updated it got fixed just uninstall reboot and install 3.6 worked for a few more peps
Sent from my LG-P990
Thank's a lot it works perfectly !
I now encounter a new problem, when I try to update my phone using the LG software, it stops at about 30% (looks like it's impossible to connect the phone with the software).
Edit -> I've found an old stock rom and installed it on my phone : everything works perfectly thanks a lot !!!
Guys
I'm running CM Nightlies and I can no longer connect my phone to any pc via USB.
Some have said I would have to flash phone back to an original rom in order to fix then flash CM back over it?
Is this really only way as worried will lose all my internal drive stuff.
You can try to change your drivers it works very well !
If you wan to save your stuff without using USB you can use FTP thrue à WIFI to send stuff on your PC.
I got the same problem since about 4 months. When connecting the phone to the computer, no usb icon appears on the notification bar, also there is nothing happening in the device manager on the computer. Charging always works.
This is still confirmed after using different computers, different usb cables, different usb ports, and 4 different versions of the drivers (up to the most recent 3.6 drivers) even it should still show something even with no drivers. This also occurs in "software update" mode.
Also I tried different ways of plugging in the cable on the phone side (slow, fast, with pressure up/down/side).
This is with CM7, CM9alpha, and just for test also with MIUI.
The odd thing is, in this time span, it randomly worked about 4 times in these 4 months. Last time was just after I updated to CM9 alpha it worked the first time I plugged it in (was surprised with that), but it stopped working too.
For me it seems it's something with the usb chip set in the phone.
The problem here is, returning the phone for RMA will cause problems with CM on the phone, as they probably will say it's because of a custom rom, and there is no (easy) way to get stock rom with branding back on the phone (the only one maybe with a nandroid backup of stock from someone else?).
I'm having the same trouble as dedors. Absolutely no USB data connection. Can't get anything going in nvflash, smart flash, recovery, or when running normally. I've tried uninstall and reinstall the drivers, multiple cables, multiple computers, multiple OS including win7 xp and Ubuntu. USB debugging enabled, disabled, wiping the SD cards, trying with no external sd card. The only glimmer I've seen of it working was when I plugged it into my old XP laptop before and it prompted the computer to install a driver for the webcam that I'd mistakenly uninstalled. I tried cleaning out the USB port in case it had a bunch of lint stuck in it and the cable just wasn't sitting properly.
I don't know at what point it stopped working but it has had no serious abuse that could cause any physical damage.
Oddly it still charges just fine.
Can't return for RMA as it's running Cyanogen 9 and I've no easy way to get it back to stock. I also had this problem on Cyanogen 7. I could probably flash a stock rom onto the phone but I wouldn't be able to nvflash the original recovery.
A lot of people seem to have had USB trouble with this phone.
Happy to provide any logs that may help the diagnosis though you may have to explain how I can acquire them as I only know basic flashing.
Sorry for the lengthy first post, trying to be thorough.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.
I can't think of any solution to your problem (in my opinion it seems like a faulty USB port, it seems to be "popular"), but I can suggest you a workaround... it's actually the workaround I've been using cuz I also have trouble with USB... get an SD card and a USB to SD card adapter...
Or that ftp/wireless trick that was mentioned above, I actually don't know how to do this but I would definitely like to
Yeah that does seem to be the case. At least I can still flash roms and so on. So long as it lasts me the rest of the year I don't mind grabbing a new one then.
Anyone who knows about logs for trouble shooting, can you suggest a way that I might try to diagnose the problem. If I can be sure the port is stuffed and nothing I can do will fix it I'm ok with that but I'd like to know whether I should keep looking for solutions or give up on it.
Cheers.
Hello,
I've got a new issue with my phone updating CM10 and today it's impossible to boot.
I've tried to plug it on my computer in order to flash it but got the same probleme as the first post : nothing happened when plugged on my computers.
Does anyone got this 3.6 drivers somewhere ? seems that the new ones from LG didn't works ....
I have the same problem
I how bought my phone (LG P990), 6 months old, used. I come home and try to connect it to the computer and it won't be recognized. Somehow I manage over that code 1809 # * 990 # to enter the menu and play with the ports I was able to connect to the computer and do the official update to 2.3.4. over LG software.Once again, this comp will not recognize phone (only charging), but using code 1809 # * 990 # and tampering on port settings it was able to connect to the computer.
Now after some time do stupidity and Root my mobile phone(SuperOneClick) and install clockwork-5.0.0.3 and via zip CyanogenMod 9. I tried all the ways that exist but pc does not recognize the phone anymore. After some time, the official ICS update is coming, and now that you can not connect the comp how to update mobile phone. I do a recovery back to the official Android 2.3.4 (I had to change the partitions, 2.3.4 and ICS use different sized partitions) and I run a mobile phone that is again official 2.3.4 and try entering the menu (1809 # * 990 #) by tampering with ports settings I tried to make comp to recognize the phone but to no avail. I tried to change the usb cable, use a different USB port on comp but nothing, no response just recharging.
After googling I managed to find recovery from ICS V28g and I managed to install it to have a functional phone. I contacted 2 service both refused to accept phone because rooted. I tried all the tricks without battery holding vol + and - to enter into APX mode, nothing then Power and vol - S / W mode that worked but comp ga would not recognize until now even that does not work (appears LG logo and when S / W should appear then goes off) and all the other tricks that I found on the internet, reinstall the drivers, I do not know what else.
Oh yeah and I noticed entering the settings on mobu System Settings / About Phone / Software Information / Baseband version - unknown

Hi,
I've found an old 3.6 driver, but nothing works even with it ... I think I must change my phone -_-

[Q] I think I broke my phone! Need help from someone who knows about roms, and OS's

This is my first post, so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.
First I'll give you a bit of a backstory.
Installed Viperone Rom
Enjoy it; going well
I made a backup
The next day, I check my storage and I have like 1GB of space free. I got scared...
So I was looking around forums, and someone said you should try wiping the device
Okay I did that, and that fixed most things. Except the Viperone rom was acting weird... it didn't seem right.
So I did ANOTHER wipe, but a more extreme wipe (Woops), I can't remember what I did, but I basically I got rid of the OS!!
I'm trying to use fastboot USB, but my pc isn't picking the phone up (even though it did before), and I have all the drivers, etc.
So basically I can't load a rom back onto it, because it won't connect to my pc. And correct me if I'm wrong, but is a rom the OS, or is the OS the OS? Have I completely f**ked up?
I've tried using an OTG cable (with a micro sd) to put the rom on my phone, but my phone isn't even picking up the OTG cable!!
I'd like to mention I'm using TWRP.
Okay guys I think i've fixed it. I "mounted" the OTG usb, and now I'm able to install the rom.

[Q] MTP issue:(

Right, up until today when I flashed Molten Motherboard as I wanted Android 5, MTP worked fine (yet slow, ew). but now, when I plug my USB in, Windows (8.1) detects it, listing it as MTP device an whatnot in DevManager, but I dont get the option to access the storage in Computer. Drivers are installed correctly and everything, it worked after i installed Lollipop, but only once.
Any help? Was considering using EternityKernal for the OTG option as I have a duel memory stick i could just transfer things that way, but I dont htink its compatile with lollipop and I cant find a link for it. I want to stay away form using stuff like AirDroid, but that will be my last resort. Thanks
