I think most of us would be expecting the new n7 and android 4.3..TBH i'm not so excited about 4.3, i think it would probably be just a maintenance update, which i think is a wrong move for google cause IOS 7 was just released a few weeks ago and in my opinion google should release something big like android 5.0 that will bring a whole new UI to actually compete with IOS 7..(although IOS 7 sucks lol)..just my opinion..

What if android 5.0 isn't done yet? Should they release it with bugs cause apple is catching up? They should finish it first and only than should they release it.

They can't just release something that's not done yet. Software doesn't just magically happen.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

I say somewhere that they were inviting people "for breakfast"... Which hints at a food. When they do that it typically means they're referring to a new android release. We always assumed 5.0 would be Key lime pie. Perhaps its a breakfast item beginning with a K. Maybe Special K cereal or something lol.
The next Android release was never stated it would be 5.0. Perhaps the next "K" release is just 4.3, maybe 5.0.
I don't really care TBH. The next N7 will have some sort of update and should be good. I would expect that they would be focusing a lot on their Google Now design since lots of updated apps from I/O are now using it.
You'd think they'd update the major build to describe the year. This is the nexus' 5th year (Nexus 5) so should have 5.0 (KISS).
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

I'm actually extremely excited for 4.3 and 5.0 because 4.3 delivers gpu optimization and new touchscreen drivers for my Nexus 4 and 5.0 delivers dalvik vm changes that will greatly increase android fluidity
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

ios7 is out of beta?.. Last I heard, the next iPhone has already been delayed.. Google doesn't have to worry about anything apple might bring.. They just have to worry about creating demand for their software and hardware.

And lots of sites just describe what's in the docs in today's article.

anyone have the info that android police originally posted? I'd love to see it!
Also those qcom docs said at the bottom that it was just based on estimates of Google launch dates, aka best guess and nothing new.
Google have said that an update to fix the bluetooth will be coming sometime soonish, i assume they will fix that before may heh

Trying to get the name out there. This typically strikes me as a desperation move, but in this case Google is already dominating the phone OS market, so it's a curious choice at this point.
If M = Monster Energy Drink, or T = Tapout! I quit.

You also have to keep in mind that we aren't ware of all the details behind it but there is a possibility that Kit Kat is paying Google to 'promote' their chocolates during this period too. I'm definitely going to be buying Kit Kats to see if I can win a Nexus 7 or Google Play credit :good:
Win-win. Honestly, I don't care what they name Android versions, they can name it Android M&Ms and I can care less. A new Android version in itself is exciting enough

The promotion of winning GPlay Store Credit or Nexus 7 is pretty awesome.
I'm pretty pretty sure it's just Google trolling. More so provided that they have such a large index if what's happening on the internet, they would have seen the buzz about KLP everywhere, and especially the hard assumption of next Android version to be 5.0. So they're just playing a card against us.
No way will Google announce the name of Android release so much before it's launched.
If there's something this does suggest, it is that the release of next Android version, whatever it is, must be close. Close...close...close. Ah! October 5th. Android's 5th birthday on October 5th, with the release of Nexus 5 and Android 5.0 would be good.
Google must be putting our minds in a different direction while they prepare for 5.0
Just my over thinking though xD
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Ummm, and now Nestle is assisting Google in trolling by putting it on their page as well? Don't think so. They are obviously in this together with quite a few promotions coming out of it which is why it was necessary to release the name early.
I am just glad I don't have to hear people call it Kandy Kane EVER again because of the stupid easter egg...

My main concern is that they usually only make significant UI changes with major numerical version updates. Since it's 4.4 and not 5.0, my thought is that there will be probably a few new features within more or less the same UI. That's not a problem, per se, but in my opinion the current Android UI is getting a little stale and could really use a refresh (especially the launcher). That's mainly what I'm hoping for in the next version of Android. I suppose we only have a couple months until we find out for sure though.

I personally like the way android's interface is right now. Besides there are many options with custom romming and custom launchers that allows you to customize it so much that a "major upgrade" isn't necessary. Just my opinion though.

OH REALLY?
Please send me a link to a Sprint GS4 4.3 leak or ROM. The international and other GSM carriers have a leak which has been ported to the Sprint gs4, but this isnt from sprint. So how do you expect to have a 4.4 KitKat Official update to the Sprint GS4 in the next month or so if we don't even have 4.3 yet. It at least another 1 month before we get 4.3 official update. then another 2-3 months for 4.4 update. Which puts it in the Jan/Feb range. So do not tell me I am ignorant and stupid.
And you should really read the rules. Here is the specific one I am referring to, just in case you forgot it.

The source in the Android Geeks story is the message Google sent to developers recently saying Android 5 will be released to consumers on Nov 3. What that means in reality is anyone's guess.

Google doesn't bump kernel versions, the 2012 N7 is still on 3.1 and the Galaxy Nexus stayed on 3.0
