Hey guys, today I was determined to change my CID in order to get the 4.2.2 update as fast as possible. So, I was running 4.1.1 Rooted on a deodexed stock rom. In order to make the CID change, tried to flash with the HTC RUU. Since there is no RUU for O2 germany, I looked my radio version up and downloadaded the European RUU. The Bootloader had to be relocked, and then is when the TRAGEDY happened. I got stuck in Bootloop. I tried everything and every RUU(errors 151, 150, 131 etc) that is out there without any luck. Finally, after about 12 hours of continious trying and screaming, i found the solution.
1) flashed cwm recovery ( did nor recognize my internal storage )
2) flashed TWRP recovery and formated the internal storage (still bootloop)
3) pushed via AIO Tool sideload the latest CM10
4) cryed for about 15 min of happiness.
I am just making this post in order to help other noobs like me who do not want to go to experts that will charge you hundrets of euros/dollars/yens what ever, and make a fool out of you. I hope this helps you. After this I donated a considerable amount of money to the TWRP, CM and AIO developers, since they have done an amazing job creating these tools and they should be rewarded. Think about it and appreciate effort of others.
ps: I am swiss, so pardon my english
any cronstructive criticism, comments are welcome
Why didn't you just flash a 4.2.2 rom and update your firmware? Much simpler than trying to force an OTA.

HTC One update with unlocked SIM
Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum and I apologize if the post is in the wrong category. And sorry for the android rookie questions, but I really need your help.
I own HTC One
I bought it with SIM lock
Phone has custom recovery (TeamWin) and it is s-OFF. I am not sure that I understand completely what this means but I found out this facts while reading this forum.
At the end, phone is unlocked (SIM unlock) by local service store (40 EUR).
I would like to update the software and OTA update does not work.
I would be grateful for step by step instructions how to update the phone software and not to SIM-lock the phone again.
My biggest concern is not to pay again for SIM unlock.
You have attached screenshots…
Thank you!

To receive and install OTA updates you need to have the stock recovery on your device. If you re-flash the stock recovery, you can install the OTA update. Once it has properly installed you can go replace stock recovery with TWRP.
I'm pretty sure it won't re-apply the SIM-lock to your phone, but I wouldn't like to say for certain. (Mine came already unlocked)

U will have to go back to the stock unrooted firmware by using the RUU. This will wipe off your internal storage completely and restore the phone to factory settings. This guide will tell you what to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
The RUU which you have to download and flash is:

please gather information and the read the guide a few times before you actually do anything

That's not true. Just have to install the stock recovery, then you can do the OTA update. After the update, reinstall either CWM or TWRP and flash SuperSU or Superuser to regain root. The OTA should not affect SIM unlock at all, at least it never has in my experience.
honestly it would be easier to just go with a custom rom since hes already s-off and custom recovery
OP. 2. options.
1. Flash this recovery, and hit the OTA check button. http://d-h.st/M4R
2. Download this RUU package: http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...31.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
and install!

Can you please explain this much more in details.
Is there any other way to update other than returning back to stock?
It does not have to be OTA.

yes you can update your firmware and flash a custom rom, if your looking for a close to stock experience i would advise ARHD 51
I just wanted to chime in and assure you that your sim unlock will not be affected by flashing custom ROMs, RUUs, firmwares, radios, recoveries, etc. I have flashed everything under the sun on my One and have retained my sim unlock.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Thank you very much!
I will try to do stock recovery right away, I just need correct RUU. I assume that one of these 2 are OK
1) http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_ul_jb_50_htc_europe_1-20-401-1_radio_4a-13-3227-06_10-27-1127-01_release_308001_signed_2_4-exe/

Are these OK and which to use?
If these are not OK which should I use?
Please, please, I just need this one info.
Let me ask different question:
Is it must for RUU to match version-main?
My version is on the picture (1.29.401.12) and I found only one RUU for this version but not for my CID (HTC__032).
What to do?

The important thing to verify is that your CID matches what the RUU is designed for. On either of those RUU's you mention, look in the comments section of the post and see the CIDs. As long as you have one of those CIDs, you can install it.
Also, if you look at the RUU version number (1.20.401.1), you notice the third number in the sequence is "401". This signifies the WWE (World Wide Edition) version, so it will work with the majority of devices. The .401 firmwares are what most custom ROMs are based on, and are generally considered to be the most compatible. I am running a .401 firmware on my AT&T device without any issues. So any RUU with a .401 version would work for you.

No, the version-main doesn't need to match. That is just the current firmware version you have installed. If you install an RUU, it will update you to whatever version the RUU is based on. The only thing, if your device is still s-on, you can't install an RUU with a LOWER version than what is shown in version-main. You can upgrade with an RUU if you are s-on, just not downgrade.
The important thing is to find an RUU that works with CID "HTC__032".
Hmm... both those RUUs are lower than what you currently have, so they won't run with s-on. If you really want to be able to run the RUU, you're going to have to s-off so you can run the lower RUU, then update with the OTA.
If you're not ready for doing s-off, you might want to think about just leaving it as is, installing a custom recovery like TWRP, and flashing a custom stock ROM like the ARHD Stock Rom. You can't get OTA, but that's alright because it already is updated. Any of the custom ROMs will work fine with .401 firmwares like you have. I would recommend this route over the s-off and RUU method, honestly, that's a lot of work for little gain, unless you just absolutely must get back to stock.
Anyway, hope this helps!

Just a quick note for you my friend, the ruu you linked is a pre-release version with hboot 1.43 and no ota update. The correct ruu is 1.28.401.7 not the 1.20.401.1.
from nkk71' guide:
2) RUU.ZIP (Windows7, Mac, Linux): http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-zip-downloads/ <- this is now the preferred method instead of RUU.EXE
------> if you’ve found a RUU.ZIP proceed to post 3

All done with success, OTA is working!
Thank you all!
Ok, so first of all I apologize in advance in case I've written the post in a wrong section.
So, here's the problem. I have a friend which recently bought an Htc One M7 from someone and here's the problem. A couple months passed by and he had no problem with the phone until once when he forgot to charge the phone and the phone battery drained every last bit of energy from it. Since then the phone happens to act weird restarting sometimes and to stop the restarts he has to factory reset the phone and be careful not to let the phone shut off or restart by mistake.
Now... looking at his phone I've noticed that the one that had the phone before played quite a while with it and I don't really think he knew exactly what he was doing and my suspicion is that he installed a wrong RUU for his phone but... the thing is I can't find a good one either. I'm a proud owner of an SGS2 (on which I've played quite a while with custom roms and such) and there things seem to be far more easier than on the HTC side. Now... here's the summary of everything and hope you can tell me how exactly should I make his phone like it was when it left the factory where it was made.
I've posted all the information you might need in the attachments because I'm new on XDA and it doesn't let me post outside links >.<
*see pictures*
Now my problem here is that I've not been able to find a RUU or nandorid backup that has the CID: HTC_622 and also the ModelN0714000 or hell the same RUU version he has right now 4.19.401.8
I also attached the information from his bootloader like hboot version and others and I also have to mention that the person that previously had it installed TWRP v2.6.3.4.
If you need more information that this please tell me. I find the HTC stuff unnecessary complicated and please someone that knows these types of phones to tell me how exactly (step by step if possible XD) what I should to to his phone to put the right stock rom and also put the stock recovery back (or whatever he's supposed to have there lol).
Thank you in advance ^.^
How much concerned about warranty ?
If not then install custom recovery TWRP then install custom Rom good to go !!!
If yes then install custom recovery TWRP then custom Rom + custom kernel then make your phone S Off with "FIREWATER" method
Then use " Guru bootloader reset tool" to remove Tempered and Lock bootloader (see bootloader pic )
Then find a RUU ( original HTC software) according to your CID and MID
Flash that ruu you get Stock software

well the phone was rooted so basically there is no warranty, I'm guessing it's a software problem since I know someone delved into it and changed things. Now about the RUU... my problem is that I can't find the right one for his CID and MID, which I find really strange or I just haven't looked as much as I should. I found a couple that had the same CID but the MID was different and vice versa. If I can't find a good one would it be better off with a custom rom?

Okay, thank you for the help, I'll try what you've suggested. I hope everything will go smoothly :good:
I have bricked my Desire 510. I need a ROM to flash through philz touch recovery, if some one in Australia has this device with philz touch can you please make a backup in the recovery and then post it to me! Its my last hope because no RUUs are working.
Either that or make me a ROM that is for the Australian telstra 64-bit model maybe some ome can teach me how to create and compile it my self.
Have you tried a backup first ?

This seems like a Strange question I know, But have you tried doing a BACKUP FIRST ?
Now having had to rescue a couple of these phones (3 to be precise) , (all with the same nandroid backup I might add)
(With No help from HTC - where are the RUU links for our phone I have to ask?, that having been said, thanks HTC for letting me unlock bootloader, (still cool) I take it all back.....)
I have found however that if a flash completes but is no good , fails to boot for example, that if you FIRST, take a backup with philz of your corrupted system, - to allow the recovery to write a last log to (broken) system with mount points, phone specifics about baseband, serial no., etc,.. BEFORE trying to restore a Good copy of a nandroid backup
(hope you have one! )
That you should then be able to restore a nandroid backup to phone. sometimes even a nandroid that failed last time. (due to failing to find mount points)
A quick note on this point is that only backups made while booted into recovery have proven successful when trying to restore backups thus far, all methods of taking backups any other way are/will be corrupted and will not prove in any way useful to restore your device.
Most of the RUU updates are wrong bootloader by the way they are based on 3.4 kernel (32bit) and not 3.10 kernel which is what 64 bit is running.
I would offer you a copy of a nandroid myself but I am aware that radio firmware is tied to carrier and probably would not work for your baseband and carrier setup. If all else fails however you are of course welcome to try, (pm me if you need a copy) I dont think it will be too long before a successful port to our phone anyway.
Good-luck,
ki113r.
Please send me a nano backup when youre on EU models orange romania

i have a similar case, i was able to get 64 bit RUU's from the internet (Asia WWE, and HTC Europe) but i can't flash them, the following is a description of the situation:
1. bootloader unlocked, custom recovery installed.
2. S-ON,
3. no userdata (system partition ?) i don't know the difference, i can flash boot (kernel) and recovery.
4. i can't flash the above mentioned roms since it is saying i have wrong CID, and i can't change the CID because S-ON
any tips ?
* i was able to download, compile & build kernel from source for telstra, i don't know how system (or userdata) image is built, any hint on that as well ?

Hi Mate,
i've got the following:
Code:
cid: TELST001
i was thinking hex editing the zip file to replace the cid, but since its zipped i can't find the plain text to get it replaced.
thanks in advance.
Have u relocked the bootloader and then tried to install the RUU?
I had the same problem with restoring the orginal Rom.

I've already done that, having the bootloader unlocked will throw another error, this was incorrect CID related one.
my phone is on Telstra (Australia) ROM, sadly, the RUU exists on some Persian forums with paid service, if there is a way where i can compile/build the system image from source, please let me know..

Hi Guys,
Step 1.
I've dumped /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 which is called "Board info"from my HTC onto my computer and opened it with Hex editor.
Step 2.
This file contained some data and CID followed by IMEI. I've edited the CID to 11111111 HOPING that I'll get a superCID. I've overwritten the existing /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 file with my modified file. Operation succesfull and no problems shown by ADB.
Step 3.
I verified if I've done Step 2 correctly by repeating Step 1 and surprisingly the /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 doesn't seem to be overwritten which makes me really sad and I'd really appreciate if someone would be so kind enough to help me by answering why are my changes not taking effect ?
P.S. I've had the whole /dev partition remounted to be read/write as well as that to be extra sure I've changed permissions to 777 for /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 but I'm stuck at step 3, the only answers that come to me are that either I'm doing something wrong or the phone doesn't allow me to overwrite mem blocks.

Thanks for your answer, I wasn't aware of that. You probably know the next question though - How do I get S-OFF ? I've tried an app called *SunShine* but I've had no success with it because it threw an error saying that I need to have a different ROM for the app to work. Ironically the reason I want superCID is to get a different ROM onto my phone ...

Sunshine does work 100% I can vouch for it. You simply need to go back to complete stock by using an RUU once your phone is completely stock including the stock recovery you can either ask me here for help with it or find @jcase over on his website theroot.ninja and I'm sure he will be more than happy to assist you with it... One other thing though if you're using a 64 bit phone it's not going to work with the sunshine app.

I have stock RUU downloaded and waiting but I can't install it because it's CID doesn't match with my phone CID. That's why I want superCID and that's what I meant when I said I want to get a "different ROM on my phone" , I should have made myself clearer in the last post. I'm currently running CynanogenMod 12.
So far I've tried the GoldCard maneuver and dumping memory block followed by hex editing and re-dumping it onto my phone (hence this thread) as well as the above mentioned SunShine app.
It feels like I'm drastically running out of options here, do you have any other advice ?

You really don't even need to be going through any of that crap if all you want is to use another rom... All you need to do is get an unlock code from HTC by giving them the token from your phone then you flash the unlock_code.bin and then flash a recovery of your choice I use twrp 3.0 at the moment because it's the newest one and make sure it's specifically for the HTC Desire 510 or it won't work after you flash the recovery you make a backup of your system before doing anything else so you have something to fall back on just in case and then you download the rom you want to either the sd card in the phone or to a computer and flash it and voila new rom... I suggest you search how to unlock the HTC Desire 510 bootloader and then search for how to root the HTC Desire 510 and after you read the step by step instructions you'll be able to get the rom on your phone... You'll need to install minimal adb and fastboot to c: drive to flash anything at all so download that too.

I've got it all done otherwise I wouldn't be running CynanogenMod 12 which I mentioned above. The thing is I don't have the backup I made for my original ROM. After an extensive research I've found a stock ROM which is suitable for my phone but it is not in the form of an image or zip file. It's a .exe Rom Update Utility (RUU) hence I'm dealing with all the stuff I've outlined in my previous post and looking for more help.

So I'm guessing you're using the CM12.1 that patrik made because the other one doesn't really work correctly and that leads me to believe your phone is a 64 bit then correct? What phone carrier are you using? I need a name.

Yes, Precisely CM 12.1-20151110-UNOFFICIAL-a11ul by patrik. Yes, my phone is 64 bit indeed. As for the carrier I've bought my phone unlocked so I don't know the original carrier, however, after investigating into my CID which is HTC__052 it turns out that Tesco is my carrier BUT I was using my phone with Vodafone UK the entire time and that's the RUU that I was trying to flash onto my phone with no success so far...

Because the Vodafone' CID isn't HTC__052 so you'll need to flash the Tesco one and you really don't have much of a choice at this point because there's no s-off for the HTC Desire 510 64bit and you unfortunately cannot change your CID without being s-off so your best bet to get stock back is to use Tesco if there's even one available.

I'm not sure which one you downloaded since it's showing me a whole list of them. If you find that the files are corrupted that's why they won't work.. in any case, do you have the unlock_code.bin from HTC? Save it forever.

Are you sure? Did you try to boot it? Some people even have to extract the boot.img and flash it after the installation process finishes. What recovery are you using? Did you do a wipe on the partitions before flashing?
Yes I booted it and prior to writing my previous post I opened up the fastboot and tried fastboot flash of boot.img that I've extracted from that archive, the phone rebooted and that's about it, no changes made.

Hi i am trying to install a custom rom to my HTC one M7 BUT i have windows 10 and nothing i have done will get fast boot to work at all so i cannot get my oem token identifier and the phone currantly has NO OS i have tried to load ViperOne+9.0.0-fix rom with an OTG stick and all that it does now is boot straight into TWRP v2.6.3.3 been trying for 2 weeks now i have:
downloaded the 15 second adb
full sdk
turned off driver signing in windows
activated develpoper mode in windows
followed 30+ videos
read 100's of posts
is my phone buggered or is there a way to fix it?
*EDIT* phone originally came with android HD revolution but i prefer viper....
*NEW EDIT*
finally got a rom installed viper 6.2 currently flashing permanent root to prevent any future issues and hopefully have a easier time with custom roms in future...
A BIG thanks to monrokhoury for suggesting a different download
The phone came with a custom rom right? then why do you want to unlock the bootloader? You can't flash a custom rom unless you have s-off or an unlocked bootloader.
please post a pic of your bootloader screen.

Maybe it's a problem with the particular rom you're attempting to flash. Or maybe the zip file is corrupt. Try flashing another rom like crdroid 6.0.1 or a sense 7 based rom. Both worked for me.
Wipe cache dalvik/art cache data and system before installing. You can flash the rom zip directly from the otg, it worked for me.
And make sure you're on the right twrp version. I'm on 3.0.0 and it works great.
good luck

Edit: twrp 2.6.x is outdated, flash 2.8.5+. 3.0.0+ is recommended.

currantly on twrp 2.6.3.3 will be updating to latest once i can install a rom since i cannot use fastboot(thanks! Windows 10) will try a different rom and see if it works
last HTC One M7 i had(chewed by a puppy)was easy to flash this one is a nightmare.
most of the newest custom ROMs require twrp 2.8.5+.. But you can try a different ROM first if you want.

He also need a 7.xx.xxx.xx firmware to run most new custom roms based on Sense. That + a recent version of twrp will make all roms working correctly.
Btw fastboot should work fine on window 8 and 10 as long as bootloader isn't 1.44 (1.54 is fine) so most likely a drivers/usb problem here.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Labs
@alray I was on nusenseven sense 7 rom.. kept it for like a week without fishing any firmwares and it worked fine but then I noticed a massive big with the phone's microphone so I switched to 6.0.1.

Yes it should work fine, the touchscreen problem was happening on older version (when restoring a very old version on a phone running a newer firmware version). Does the software versino of your backup match your firmware version?

If evertyhing in /system and /data/preload is stock and your software version match with your firmware version, your stock recovery version also match then it should work, not the fastest and easiest way to update but it should work. I would simply flash a RUU to update and then extract your important files from your CWM backup.
@alray I was just kidding dude. I haven't flashed any firmware since I got the phone (that's a looong time BTW), I'll post my getvar all screen shortly. Also, I plan on extracting the recovery img from the ota zip file and flashing it via fastboot. Should take care of the recovery issue don't you think?
Sadly, there ain't no recent ruu for my particular device. I'm on aosp based 6.0.1 dirty unicorns and I think it's considerably better than the stock lollipop ROM. however, I just wanna keep a twrp nandroid backup handy on an otg just in case things go south.
Thanks a lot man.
